Volvo News: Volvo's U.S. Dealers and Executives Want The V40
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volvo
Be interesting to see how long before the EU and US decide it would be better to just have one strict standard and try and enforce it the world over. I can see why the Dealers here want this car, after all there is huge demand for these small luxury auto's even if they are over priced and not worth the coin. -
Lincoln News: Ford's Design Chief Says Lincoln Isn't True Luxury
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
Lincoln has a long way to go to get to being a luxury brand. Good to hear they are admitting that most of the auto's are pigs with lipstick on them from the Ford Pig pen.- 10 replies

Nice write up William. I agree with Z that you really are improving on your reviews. Comment/observation is that people complain about the Impala steering wheel and this one is freaking plain Ugly and talk about a BORING INTERIOR! Amazing the comments on the Impala thread and yet no one here even mentions just how blah /Ugly this interior is.

If GM can sell an Impala for 40K than more power to them. They need to also remember the starter needs and make sure there are small cars and trucks of quality in the 15-18K range to get young people into the fold. Make sure they are fun and exciting and people will get back into the habit of buying auto's. Biggest problem is that todays youth would rather be wasting time with the garbage of Facebook, sexting and other crap than seeing the area they live in and hanging out with friends and learning how to have social skills of interacting with people. This is our current LOST GENERATION of AUTO buyers. This is what will hurt the auto industry if they do not get the youth into seeing the auto as what it is, a Freedom machine. Just got back from a friends wedding in Santa Barbra CA and I drove down in two days and back in two days. Now that my friend is married and they are driving up since all her stuff was moved up by movers, they have been on the road for two days and only made it to Yreka just south of the Oregon boarder. Be interesting to hear why it took them so long. I suspect his new wife is not a road trip person considering that her whole life has been in Santa Barbra and she has never gone any place else. Auto Industry has got to show how good auto's like the Impala are for more than just in town driving. Get out and see America!

Be a sad day when we need these jobs compared to being able to go out in the world and enjoy life.

Jaguar News: Jaguar Imagines A Future Without A V8 Engine
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Jaguar
Jag is a label much like Coach purses. people who buy them are mostly unaware of the engine and cylinder count as Balthazar says. From a history point and for those of use that are auto nuts, we will miss the V8. yet most cars today can get by without them. I truly hope the hybrids with a proper generator can truly produce the performance. As Drew stated, Electric does have superior Torque. So who is up for starting a company that makes Performance Electric Motors? Think of this as a 3rd party upgrade for those that buy a Volt, Prius, etc and want more performance. -
Last Weekend I was at Doug's Cadillac Customer appreciation BarbeQue, food drive and Old Auto Show competition. I have to say, tons of food was collected to help out those less fortunate, the country western band was really good, food outstanding, but the stars of the shows was for me from new to old auto's. Here is just a taste of what I saw. I will create a new thread and build a album of all the pictures I took. One surprise for me was that Cadillac sells a special Matte Silver paint job for the V edition of the CTS Coupe.

Opel/Vauxhall News: Opel Reveals The Monza Concept
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Opel/Vauxhall
WOW, I actually love the interior. The front nose reminds me of Mazda that I do not like. They need to stop making gaping mouths. The side vent openings are interesting, over all not really digging the front end of the car. Side profile is OK, looks like it has it's butt up in the air. Rear view seems to have nice flowing lines. Love the CNG powered Hybrid power train. Yet the body style needs major work. -
Interesting, they could if done right clearly go to a 100% hybrid lineup of auto's and greatly reduce their green house gas footprint.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Introduces The Elmiraj Coupe
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
I agree with Drew about how boring, blah and just plain dull the CL is, for that matter other than AMG I tend to find MB style rather boring and blah. BMW has a tad bit better style than MB but also not a big fan other than their M series of their cars. Over all SMK, Yes, I would spend $100,000 on this American Made luxury 2 door!- 88 replies

Cadillac News: Cadillac Introduces The Elmiraj Coupe
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
People who cannot imagine, live very boring lives so I hear. There are plenty of people with money who will buy a 2 door like this as it meets certain needs of their life. I am one. A big car with room for me and the wife and maybe an occasional other person, but really just me and the wife on a road trip. I am one of those people that will never buy Euro or Asian trash auto's as I prefer to support American companies first and then will look outside only when no alternative is available.- 88 replies

Cadillac News: Cadillac's Elmiraj Concept "Is Very Doable”

Or it actually could be true. I sent the story to our company internal chat forum. That allows people with same interests to connect and the BMW forum was all positive about this with the attitude of why should we have to wait for others? While some could be considered sarcasm, I was surprised to see a positive number of people post that they liked the story and agreed with it since they felt they had surperior auto's so why waste time on lower end drivers. Was an eye opener.

Tesla Model S Earns Highest NHTSA Score Ever Recorded
G. David Felt replied to Intrepidation's topic in Tesla
So Tesla expects to make enough money on selling cars so that they can offer these super charging stations for free. I know there was the story about these stations. Has it been updated that Tesla is now going to actually do this? I do not see how this will work if it is a free service. -
We'll E85 failure I see is due to the high cost of the fuel along with the lower energy level per gallon compared to gas, diesel and CNG. Along with lower HP, Torque, general availability all leads to a reduced desire and demand for the product. Negativity about the tax dollars spent on it and if the subsidies were removed, it would be on pare cost wise with gas at a lower performance level. This alone just kills it. Even Propane is a better alternative than Ethanol.

Tesla Model S Earns Highest NHTSA Score Ever Recorded
G. David Felt replied to Intrepidation's topic in Tesla
The Tesla Model S has a longer range than our 2004 CR-V That might be true, but then you can stop and quickly fill up with gas and keep going compared to trying to find a level 3 fast charger or have to do the slow boat 110 charge. -
Very Cool, I could see the title of this being "Ethanol, the 21st century Snake Oil Sales Man?" Then do an in-depth review of when the industry started, the amount of tax dollars given to the industry, what the cost of corn was at the beginning per bushel and what it is now. Also include other costs of components then and now to see if there really is a correlation of increased cost to the public. What is the real benefit of Ethanol and is it delivering on what was promised? I would look forward to reading this.

Vehicle: Buick Encore (2013)
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
That is a Sexy Car! Way to go Drew, so tell us all about it. Is it fully loaded with AWD or just FWD? Looking forward to hear all about it. I am very excited for you. Congratulations. -
Very cool, the Japanese, Chinese and European along with the US auto makers should be concerned as the Koreans are responding to build world class leading cars for each segment or near there. Be interesting to see where this company is in 5 to 10 years. Will it replace Toyota and then fall like GM or will it be able to take over and become one of the largest car companies in the future?
