  1. The benefit of having an auto switch system which you have with Versus conversion kits or others out there is that you run on the fuel you are currently burning and when your tank is empty it seamlessly switches over to the other gas and continues to run. No stopping, dying of the motor with a manual change over switch. This way you just drive the auto and it can move back and forth between CNG / Petrol depending on which tank is currently full for use.
  2. At the Seattle auto show, they made this announcement which drove considerable interest and questions. One thing that was different than what is stated here is that the system would be auto switching between the two fuels. So I am wondering which is correct the manual change over or the auto change over? Computers today allow the CNG Conversion kits to seamlessly move back and forth between the two fuels. I do not see why GM would go with a manual system. I have to think this is a mistake as the folks at the Seattle Auto Show said it was a auto system that would go back and forth between the two fuels. Seamless driving up to 500 miles.
  3. So just finished a conversion adding CNG to a Toyota Land Cruiser. So it is now bi-fuel and it runs so much smoother and better on the CNG than on the Petrol. CNG is standardized at 3600 PSI, you loose no MPG unlike Ethanol, E85 and other green gases that also lower Torque and HP. CNG give more HP and Torque. Type 4 tanks are not that much heavier. Yes if you use a type 1 tank you add hundreds of pounds of weight unlike a Carbon Fiber Type 4 tank or type 3 tank. Over all CNG is superior to using LPG, E85 or Ethanol. If you add CNG to Diesel it gets even better, Diesel's that are converted almost double their MPG, add considerable Torque and HP and since you run a 50/50 mixture you reduce your fueling cost. At Drew mentioned, if you purchase a Home Fueling system such as a Fuel maker FMQ 2-36 you lower your fueling from home. I fuel at 85 cents per GGE (Gas Gallon Equivalent). The local Fast Fill's around Seattle run from $1.90 to $2.20 per GGE. CNG gives the same MPG so you really do not loose any range unless you are replacing a oversized tank than you will since the CNG tanks do take up a bit more space. Yet on full size trucks and SUV's you can easily double your range. I am not done with my Suburban conversion yet, but I have the original 44 gallon Gas tank good for 500+ miles on Petrol and I have added a 42 gallon CNG tank so I should be able to pretty much drive from Seattle to LA without having to stop and fill up or for comfort just stop once. GM News, Chevy IMPALA 2014 model will be available as a CNG, CNG/Petrol Bi-Fuel or just Petrol starting in March of 2014. Great news for everyone.
  4. Longest Owned and still driving is my 94 GMC Suburban SLE.
  5. With AWD the Encore should have at least 250HP and 275lbs.
  6. Nice Job Dodgefan, great way to keep the intrepid looking HOT!
  7. wow that really sucks, I wonder where the eggs or how the eggs got laid?
  8. I like, if it is brighter and lasts longer I have no problem with exchanging a bulb for an LED equal. I think in some cases, older auto's look better once they have LED tail lights and headlight systems. Plus lower draw on the electrical needs of the old wiring harness.
  9. Not good, Chinese now own the loan, Tax payers loose and the technology what little there is will go to mainland china and be lost as people send their money overseas to china.
  10. Does anyone else know if this program is running at Costco's in their area? Costco sent out an email today with this as the main piece.
  11. Had a chance to look at the Diesel Grand Cherokee tonight, that is freakin nice!
  12. Not available here in Green Washington. I called after seeing this to see and found no one at Enterprise, National or Alamo has them.
  13. How about a torque monster 4.8L Diesel with a 9 or 10 sp tranny. I would love to see the VOLT power train in this line up also and CNG options.
  14. After seeing the Jeep in person last night, I have changed from not liking it to liking it. It actually looks way better in person than in the pictures. Very nice auto. While some will hate the CUV UniBody, I suspect it will not affect them having gone from BOF to Uni. Fit and Finish is great on the one at Seattle International Auto Show.
  15. Weird, I was going to throw up 10 pics before I head out the door and they are all around 3 to 3.5mb in size and the limit is 200MB on a single file. Drew any idea why?
  16. Howdy all, So will aim to get some photo's posted tomorrow, heading out to the show as it was a late night getting the booth setup since they were behind in getting carpet down and wall built. I did walk around last night and took pictures of the new Jeep Cherokee and have to say that in person this jelly bean is actually really nice and I have changed to liking it now. It was a gun metal grey with lots of metallic and had the off road package. Really sweet. The show this year is amazing, the best I have ever seen it. GM has gone all out and the new Tahoe/Subrburan and Yukon/XL/Denali's are on display which surprised me and the new trucks including the HD 1 ton dually up on a pedestal. I took a picture of the Yellow Mustang and Stingray. They are amazing. The new Spark EV is here and the list goes on and on. Will have to take some breaks so I can walk around and take more pictures.
  17. I have a Toyota Camry Hybrid 2012 and it has the largest opening doors I have ever seen on a car; tall and wide and open real wide. It has more front seat space than my old Lucerne and it was really big. Two problems with this. 1) While it is big for many, I have tried the latest version of Camry and while roomy to a point, it is not for tall people as once I got the front seat so that I was comfortable, no one could sit behind me and I really do not like sitting partially reclined. 2) I support American jobs first before anything else and will buy from GM and Ford as long as they exist to support our country. So Toyota will always loose out. My 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid was made in Georgetown, Kentucky USA!!! Profits and engineering jobs still go back to corp headquarters in Japan.
  18. Is anyone else having this issue? Weird, but I see it fine now. Very cool pumpkins.
  19. Welcome Bother from another mother up north!
  20. Very cool that your all ready, sadly I see no picture only a jpg marker
  21. I hope it wows folks as so far this car is an ugly duckling with no hope of turning into a swan.
  22. 90th Anniversary of the Seattle Auto Show. October 16 to 20, 2013 Wednesday-Thursday 1 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Friday 1 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. http://www.seattleautoshow.com/index.php While I will have a CNG booth at this auto show, I do plan to take my DSLR and capture pictures of the hot new auto's. On the home page they list the Jeep Cheerokee as being there along with the ELR. Take a look at the web site and let me know if you want any pictures of specific Auto's. I will do my best to get them. One cool point is the Old Car Collection with a select group of cars from the worlds largest private auto collection. LeyMay Museum Tacoma Washington http://www.lemaymuseum.org/ Autoshow up all!
  23. Never understood why they feel they have to move forward with a bad idea/failed technology. I would think it would be cheaper to pay off the suppliers, recycle the parts and move on with better new technology that gets it right.
  24. You seem to smoke so much crack of the German variety that all you can do is make silly comments. Corvette could never be done off the Cruze platform as Cruze was never engineered for the performance Corvette does, etc. As others have already stated, same engines and Platforms are used in the name of synergy. But this is not OK for American Auto Companies to do?
  25. True, but then they did come out of the gate when they started with a better line up than what Fiat has offered for the last 3 years.
