Genesis News: Genesis debuts a Long Wheelbase G90 Black Edition
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Genesis
Considering that Solid-State batteries are supposed to be 4 times as energy dense, I see no reason for a 50kW battery size of today's battery to not have a 600-mile range as that would then be a 200-kW solid state battery in the size of a 50-kW lithium liquid battery. Yet with that said, the faster charging speed as Drew and I have stated about Solid-State batteries should make much smaller batteries just fine once we have a 5 min charge cycle that people keep swearing all gas autos have which they do not. -
Excellent!!!

Interesting is that 6 of my coworkers all traded in their Tesla's and bought new EVs over the weekend. 2 Hyundai, 3 Kia and 1 Lucid. I wonder where these used Tesla's are going to go as people are not wanting to buy them even used.

To get the 5-star side impact rating, I have noticed the higher belt line, giving a bunker look to the cars and reducing visibility out the side. I am wondering if there is just cheapness from the engineers as my EV9 has a 5-star side impact rating and I do not have the bunker look but a traditional large green house, so how do they feel this is a good look, sucks IMHO. I feel GM and Stellantis have moved to a bunker look and it takes away from the nice flowing style of an auto. Update: Makes me wonder, is it really that much cheaper to engineer a safe side impact auto with a high belt line over a more traditional beltline like my current ev9. Interesting question.

While one could say this is political in posting, I am focusing on the Tesla protest and what could be another ERON in the making. Over 200 ‘Tesla Takedown’ protests take place throughout US on ‘Global Day of Action’ against Elon Musk’s role with DOGE | CNN Business Protesters rally at Tesla showrooms in U.S., Europe to protest Elon Musk All peaceful here in Washington State, but the Tesla stores all had 200 to 300 people at each one, major protest against the auto brand. Tesla stock and sales worldwide have fallen. Many are calling for his firing from Tesla to hire a CEO focused on the auto business. Then we have news of missing money from Tesla with nothing but excuses from Musk. Tesla is somehow missing $1.4 billion Musk calls SSA a Ponzi scheme and yet we now have this manipulation of stock after moving a billion dollars in GPU's to xAI which also does not seem to be accounted for at Tesla. xAI Buys X in Blockbuster Deal. Elon Musk Found a Way to Win the Twitter Deal. So, one has to question and wonder. Is Tesla the next ENRON to explode and take everyone's money leaving Musk with his other companies paid for by looting Tesla, an EV auto company that is now behind other companies in the world. Chinese, Korean and German auto companies are making better EVs than Tesla. Will Tesla survive as an independent company till 2030? Politics are a very emotional area, but a bigger thing to focus on here in the trade war for the U.S. and for the growth of EVs is how will Tesla survive or will it? I honestly can see the Tesla Supercharger Station business surviving no problem as an Independant company.

Agree if all you do is drive local, but 600 miles reduces any concerns for people who like road trips. Consider a 600 Mile battery pack the equal of an extra-large gas tank. My suburban and Escalade all had the extra-large size so I never had to worry about where I might need to fuel but could just go and enjoy the drive. -

Keep in Mind that Mercedes came to the party late. Kia/Hyundai/Genesis were the first investor with Factorial Energy for Solid state and then a year later Mercedes joined the investors party. Both have prototype assembly lines that come online this spring to actually product production grade battery packs. Right now, both are using hand-built versions and have pretty much the same range. Genesis RV90 EV SUV is supposed to have the first battery packs from the Hyundai Assembly line in them when they go on sale next year. That would put them ahead of Mercedes. Bigger part is when both companies push it through out their whole product portfolio to maximize the performance while minimizing cost. I can imagine the G90 Long wheelbase sedan above having this battery pack and being in the 600 mile plus range. We are in exciting times, and it will be interesting to watch how Mercedes and Kia/Hyundai/Genesis maximize these solid-state battery packs. -

Warren Buffett was the lead investor in BYD and as a financial requirement made BYD review and apply all of Demming and Drucker's approach to manufacturing like they did for Toyota and most of Japan when the U.S. Auto industry ignored them. BYD is in many ways ahead of many other auto companies world wide in quality as well as technology. Excellent read: Deming versus Drucker. I suspect with Hyundai having their solid-state battery plant started for testing of the battery packs that Toyota is going to have to really spend money to catch up to the Koreans. Yes, I do as I feel that this Tariff war is about to take 1/3rd of America and say, your cast into never owning an auto again. We have Idiot47 waging a cast war on who can and cannot buy an auto based on incompetence of business knowledge. He did FAIL 6 times in his goal to build a billion-dollar net worth on paper, but his knowledge and business is a house of cards. While Driving is a privilege earned as is owning an auto, who decides who has that right? Tariffs have their place when you truly have a segment that is being abused by a specific country or person, but in the approach being taken, this added taxation on society on all things is an incompetent way to approach life. The Tariff war with our closest trading partners is going to hurt all more than help anything. I do not blame Canada or Mexico for removing American products from their shelves. A few of the company products removed have been very supportive of Idiot47 and his lemming brigade and as such, the horse with blinders approach in DC is hurts more Americans, Canadians, and Mexicans than it does to help America. One can call DC Fascist, Socialist, Nazi, Communist, etc. end result is the leadership in DC is hurting what a free market and democracy is all about. This also is going to have major impact on other market segments as Autos tend to incorporate so many pieces from other segments. The blow back is going to be huge to the North American buyers that this country is going to feel the pain for many years to come. Is a 25% Tariff really worth is on autos produced outside the U.S. border when it comes to jobs, incomes, sales, etc. The tariff war is going to hurt the Used Auto market as well as the limits on available auto options are going to push up prices on used as well.

Mercedes also only started off in a limited production for the S Class and all models above and still in many ways does sell a limited amount of their uber luxury models. Why is it wrong for Genesis to roll out a model that is truly aimed at the 1% and will eventually offer it globally for those that want the best executive luxury sedan? Many auto companies that have been in that top tier market make a profit off of selling a few thousand a year only. If you took a close look, you would find that not everything is glassy black leaving finger prints. In fact while like @Robert Hall stated and you, the all black thing has been done by just about everyone. Yet here, as I pointed out, they took the time to take this to a level of refinement that no one, not even Mercedes has done in making sure every piece, including the engine bay is the same true color of black with matte black in key areas that would be touched allot. I can see this being loved by those that like everything all black to the nth degree. I also have to agree with Robert, it is very nice to see a company still making sedans, especially long wheelbase for those that are big. -

About time someone held Tesla accountable for the lies of FSD. China has forced them due to the failure of being able to self drive and it is now called in China "Intelligent Assisted Driving" or IAD. IAD sounds like a terrorist bomb.
