  1. sorry bout the flash glare. they kept it pretty dark in there. thanks the high end model also has the integrated phone controls on the steering wheel as well. actually, there are both trim levels. I just happened to get better interior pics in the low end version
  2. Some exec at Acura decided it was in their interest to try to wine and dine me into buying a new Acura by inviting me to the invitation only 2007 Acura MDX preview last night. While I have no plans for the Acura, I was plenty appreciative of the wine-ing that they provided. That, and the chance to meet Steve "Stumpy" Thomas (ex of the Tornto Maple Leafs) who was there either because he's friends of the owner, or he's making a little cash on the side. Being a GM fan and having high expectations from Honda’s luxury brand, I didn’t go in expecting to be impressed, but walking out, I have to admit, Acura did a really good job on the new MDX. The exterior design was great. The only thing I wasn’t too keen on type of mesh they have on the front grill. The interior was very clean and well appointed. The plastics felt good, and the leather felt great. There were only two things about the interior that bugged me. There are way too many buttons on the steering wheel and center console. Second, and this is common to all the nav systems I’ve ever played with (all being two, this and i-Drive in a new BMW 5 series), they aren’t intuitive. I spent a good 15min playing around with it (to the annoyance of everybody waiting to try the car out), and still couldn’t getting hang of what buttons did what. Another very minor thing I didn’t like was that the heated seats only had two settings, Hi and Low. The RL I had sat in while waiting for unveiling of the MDX had about 5 or 6 settings for the seat heater. As you can see, the cup holders fit a wine glass quite nicely. The third row seating, while not the most roomy, were pretty good considering. Stay tuned tomorrow, because they were foolish enough to let me sign up to take an RDX for a test drive tonight.
  3. I have to wonder if the LX’s are losing their luster in customer’s eyes. Sales are to the point where they’ll be blacking brampton out for a week or two in Nov because of all the unsold cars
  4. call me when it starts to affect their profits
  5. Is there anyway to disable the minimum character rule for the forum search? Since many cars on this forum have 2-3 character names, this rule makes it tough to search for them
  6. ugly hood
  7. yummah! you could fist that exhaust
  8. LOL when pontiac delayed the solstice because of "quality issues" everybody helled HAZZAH, good for GM for wanting to make quality product. but when toyota does it, they get ripped.

  10. last I read, Kyoto wasn't "just about CO2". Its goal was reduce the major greenhouses, CO2, methane, NO, hydrofluorocarbons, erfluorocarbons and sulfur hexafluoride. Like I said before, I don't know aboit it costing more, and I really don't see how it would either. Its just an excuse to bitch without calling the tories out for the real reasons and by doing so, pissing off the west. The only real cost i see, and this is to the consumer, and not the autosecotr, is the additional costs related to maintaining cars at these higher standards. When I see them implement something to make the oil comapnies out west cleanup their act, then I might consider the tories a "green" party, till then, they are jsut playing politics

  12. Of course the Ontario gov is bitching. We’ve got the most people, who will end up bitching at them when they have to spend more to make their cars meet/maintain these standards. If the Conservatives were truly “green”, they wouldn’t have essentially scraped Kyoto and would have implanted this to supplement it. The truth is, they don’t want to hurt their support out west, where they are hugely supported by the oil industry, which would have been dealt a huge blow by Kyoto. So they scraped Kyoto and implemented a program who’s biggest effect would be felt in a province where their support is lukewarm at best.
  13. I think they realize something should be done. And since a lot of their political and financial base is out west, they wouldn’t want to hurt that by regulating them too much I don’t know about cars, but I know there tend to be different models of motorcycles, one for Cali, one for the rest of North America. Since the cars are already designed to meet these standards. Unless there are additional costs to making them, (that are passed along to the consumer) I can’t see how this would hurt the automakers.

  15. yup. its a cost savings thing so they can afford the GM badges
  16. maybe some minor tech sharing, ie hybrid drives, tranny's would be beneficial, but thast about it IMO
  17. glad to see i'm not the only one who thought of that
  18. WONDERTASTIC!
  19. are they trying to compete with the camcord, cause its just as bland. I hope the Ion is more exciting than this
  20. This is the key until hydrogen stations become more common IMO. It would be nice to see a trimode that would include Ethanol as a fuel as well.
  21. nice change, but if I didn't open BMW's website in another window, I wouldn't have noticed.
  22. when is the SRT model coming out?

  25. Depends on what electronics he’s talking about. Rear window defrost (which I had problems with), turn signals and brake lights are far from luxury items.
