  1. And none of those houses are being built for union workers right? You make it sound like they all live in $50,000 houses.
  2. I agree. GM's new strategy for Saturn will put them on many many more buyers lists. Even mine. If Saturn's sales triple, which I think is possible seeing the new cars they are getting, who in their right mind could call that a failure? Just like when people complain about changing the Saab recipe, they sell 40,000 cars a year, how good can that recipe be? Change is needed to survive.
  3. The American car makers will continue to slide unless they can compete on costs with the rest of the automakers. Either give back now, or work non union for Toyota later. Thats what its coming down to. Personally, I dont want to see the non American companies gain another point of share, and I want the American companies do whatever they have to do to make sure that doesnt happen.
  4. No, its a smart thing to do. But it sucks that other companies have all these advantages over our companies just because they are not American companies. I would really like to see what GM could do if they had a level playing field. GM has the talent, but doesnt have the funds to utilize it all.
  5. Work the kinks out in a closed market, then release them in an open market and ride the wave of great press from having such a reliable car. The market is positioned to make it almost impossible for Toyota to fail.
  6. If this does end up costing GM 8 billion as some estimates show, the Union will be facing a similar, but much bigger situation in 2007. I would really like to see the Union back down, instead of giving up hundreds of thousands of pensions/jobs/benefits when GM cant support them anymore. The question is, do you want to keep some of what was faught for, or none? I dont see any possible way they will keep all.
  7. I was thinking why would you make a Saturn clone of a Viper, then I noticed the name.........
  8. The fact is, there would still be a ton of demand for those jobs by non-union workers, even if they only got paid 1/2 what the union workers make, and probably have the same skill level as well. And your analogy of getting you getting kicked in the head so everyone else should too is a little off. It's more like you get some sexual benefits from your boss, so the rest of the workers should too, while in reality none of you should be getting those benefits.
  9. Then why do people continue to buy Porsches and Ferraris when the Z06 outperforms them? Are they stupid for pricing their cars so high? Maybe GM is stupid for pricing the Corvette so low.
  10. But your talking about a $100+ car that can support the engineering to have no wrinkles. The Solstice costs $20,000.
  11. I think it was 9.2 in the 1/4mi.
  12. VVT has the same effect whether the cams sit on top of the heads, or if the cam is in the block. It's either useless on both, or it isnt useless on both.
  13. The only ones I would want are the Cien and Torana. I would buy the Torana if they built it, even if it didnt come with the TT3.6 and only had the regular 3.6.
  14. Tempest is too good of a name for the current G6 anyway. Grand Am fits it better.
  15. I've been in a Prelude before, it is in no way a large car. I felt more comfortable in the back seat of a 92 Camaro than I did sitting in the front seat of a Prelude with someone sitting behind me.
  16. I still dont see how Toyota is chasing perfection. Because they make their cars to sell to people who only care about getting from point a to b, somehow that makes them chase perfection? There is no such thing as perfection. That is why we have choices. If Toyota is so perfect, why do they have nothing I want to own? Even Honda makes a few cars I wouldn't mind owning, why cant Toyota? Toyota is the last automaker I would like to see be the biggest in the US. I can think of at least 1 car from almost any automaker that I wouldnt mind owning, except Toyota. Toyota is for the people who dont care about cars, and that would not be me.
  17. Is there such thing as value pricing on any $75,000 car? Do people with that much money to spend really care about saving a few thousand? They are going to get the better car, no matter the cost. If they were looking to save money they wouldnt buy a luxury car.
  18. Which are both outsold by a huge margin by the Ford and GM SUVs. Would you take the chance if it was your money on the line?
  19. It will be that soon? I was thinking it was still a while away. I'd like to buy some stock in both companies after that happens.
  20. I just thought that one comment was ignorant. They dont just sit there shuffling paper like you suggested. And I would like to see jobs stay here, I dont want them to go to other countries. But I think the unions arent helping the situation. If our companies dont make money, how can they keep jobs here? I would like see our companies be able to compete with the best in the world. I am not proposing to send jobs overseas, but if thats what it takes to keep our companies alive, at least we can keep some of the workers here, instead of losing them all.
  21. Am I a cheerleader too? GM only has a few cars I would want to own, but thats still a few more than Toyota. I just think people think too highly of everything Toyota does.
  22. I really like the Denali. The front looks great.
  23. I did not say what goes on outside was not important. I just feel they are acting like they are more important than they are. Just because they do physical labor doesnt mean they are more important than everybody else, they should get paid what the market allows, not what they demand they get paid. My dad has done physical labor his whole life. Now he is trying to get his GED and go to college, which he wishes he had done 25 years ago.
  24. I dont know of one who owns a 3 series, but I do know of one that owns an 04 Z06 and an SL55 AMG.
  25. I have a new word for you. Go look up the definition of ignorance.
