  1. Are you mad because if I lose my job today I can go find another tomorrow making roughly the same pay? I guess I dont live in your real world where everyone is entitled to $100,000 and inflation rates of 30%. If I want to get paid more I'll earn it, not get a group together to force my employer to pay for it. You ever hear of efficiency? What kind of business were you running over there? Pay people more for less output?
  2. For someone who talks about jealousy alot, you sure seem jealous yourself.
  3. Delphi didnt sign any contracts. They inheritied them from GM. And do you honestly think if GM said they cant afford those contracts it would make a difference? The only reason they were signed is because they couldnt afford a strike either. How much would a strike cost? 2 billion a month, 3 billion a month? GM should have dealt with the unions 20 years ago when they had the money to.
  4. $10 an hour is still more than 0 an hour. So I would say they can lose more.
  5. If you ever want people to read your posts you should use punctuation, and form sentences. As it is now, I'm guessing many people just skip over your posts.
  6. If it comes with a hardtop it will need the SC 2.0 just to keep up with the Solstice. That would put it a few hundred lbs over 3000, and that would hurt its handling as well. I'll take a regular top on mine, with the 250hp turbo engine.
  7. Sky if it was out now, but since its not then Solstice. My next choice would be a GTO, then CTS.
  8. The $1000 off that I saw was from a dealership, that same dealership had an ad right above the 300 for $9000 off for a Dodge Ram.

    So...

Why would a sports car have a retractible hard top? It doesnt fill where the Camaro was at all. Its $20,000 more expensive. The Camaro handled good, it wasnt a cruiser like the SSR. I cant consider anything that weighs 4800lbs a sports car.
  10. Oh what did all the farmers do when they were not needed anymore. Now less than 1 percent of the population can feed the whole country and more. Freeing the rest of us to do/make other things. The companies they work for cant support it. The unions should be lobbying congress to fix healthcare instead of striking against the companies that pay them, and draining them of their profits and ability to compete.
  11. And it will save GM 2 billion a year, and improve the quality of the parts. It will help GM make better cars. Which is better for the 95 percent of our workforce that is non-union, and get GM some more sales.

    So...

It fails miserably as a sports car. If you were in the market for a sports car, why would you pick an SSR, sitting right next to the Corvette?
  13. I dont see how the 300 is heavily discounted. They werent included in the employee pricing program. The most I have seen for a rebate was $1000.

    Toyota

Read his post again, he was arguing your point, not against it. And try comparing V6 to V6, as I said, the W-body cars dont come with 4cyls. If you want to compare the 4cyl Camry to a GM car, compare it to the Malibu 4cyl.

    Toyota

The 2000+ Impala still got better fuel economy than the 2002+ Camry, if you compare V6 to V6.
  16. Which if you read my post again, you will see the issue isnt marketshare. The issue is foreign competition being able to do anything GM does, but cheaper. Toyota making 9 billion a year, while GM is losing money. Volume doesnt mean anything if the real cost of cars keeps dropping, while foreign competition can absorb the cost, GM cant. If something isnt done about the cost American automakers face, the only thing the union workers will be able to hope for is that Toyota will be nice enough to hire some of them. There are only 2 choices. American car makers eliminate the cost disadvantage, either by going bankrupt, or recieving concessions from the union, or, say goodbye to American car makers. I can guarantee you, things will be much worse for everyone, if those costs aren't brought in line with the rest of the competition.
  17. I'd get a Grand Prix coupe, oh wait, I already have. The mileage isnt too bad either, I get 25mpg combined, and thats for a GTP. Thats around the same as I was getting from my quad 4 Grand Am.
  18. Who would want to shift 4-5 times in less than 9 seconds? Thats the same reason many drag cars use 2 speed powerglides.
  19. And rising. How much will it be next year, $7 billion? $8 billion? And a yearly $6.5 billion is much worse than a one time $4.4 billion cost.
  20. Thats good news. I havent heard much about it recently, I just remember GM had the XV12 in the Cien, and I'm guessing it will be the top engine in the ULS(or whatever it will be called). It just seems like its taking forever to debut.
  21. That is a separate issue. We are talking about American car makers having a cost disadvantage even if the companies were run perfectly. Does 2 wrongs make a right? Even without those losses you mentioned GM would still be losing share, and still be at a disadvantage to the foreign competition. That is not sustainable.
  22. That is only a 20hp increase in 12 years. Why should Cadillac just be competitive? Cadillac should be GMs best. I think they either need to give the Northstar more hp, or make a V10 or V12 Northstar.
  23. Does the STS have a sport suspension package? I dont remember ever reading/hearing anything about it. If it doesn't it should. I think they made the the STS too soft for handling, but I love how it looks. I think whats hurting its sales the most is the CTS, being so similar in size, but costing much less. Anybody know when a new Northstar will be out? I think its a good time for the Northstar to be updated to about 350+hp. Even the 5.3 will be making more hp/torque than the Northstar.
  24. I'm just amazed that the union believed they could continue on like they have forever. Did they not see all of this coming?

Actually the the W-body cars do get better fuel economy. Are you comparing the V6s to I4s? Because no W-bodies come with 4 cyl engines. The 303hp Impala gets 19/28. What does the 225hp Camry get?
