  1. I agree. The mid-size segment is much more price sensitive. Most of them probably got a mid-size because they couldnt afford a full size suv. The people driving full-size SUVs have more money to spend, and are not effected by gas prices as much. Alot of people dont know the difference between BOF and unibody SUVs, and dont care. What they do care about is better gas mileage, and room to fit 5+ people comfortably.
  2. I have read somewhere that there is a multiplier effect of 10 on every 1 GM employee. That would make that total 13M people affected. That would be 4.4% of the total population, but roughly half of the total population are working class, which would bring up the total affected to almost 10%. You will feel the effects even in CA.
  3. Didnt GM say this technology would make it into the Corvette? It was a few years ago. I think it was Siemens who was developing it. Did GM just drop the idea, or are they just quietly developing it still?
  4. Now theres a truck I would buy
  5. I'd never spend my money on any vehicle without a floor shifter. Column shifters feel awkward.
  6. The Chevy dealer I went to had a $5000 markup on their 1 new HHR, and also their 1 used HHR. They said they sell within 3 days.
  7. Havent I explained this already? I am not talking about a persons worth, I'm talking about the value of a certain job.
  8. If all those workers are Delphi are so skilled, and worth their $30 an hour jobs, why cant they go anywhere else and get paid that? Oh right, Delphi is the only one paying that much for their skill, because they are overpaid in comparison to the rest of the companies wages. If that job is worth $30 an hour, why cant they go somewhere else and get paid $30 an hour? Accept the fact that they are overpaid, it has nothing to do with what they can live off of, it has to do with the fact that they get paid too much for the job they do. You dont get paid depending on how much you need to survive, you get paid depending on the value of the job you do. If I have 30 kids should I ask for a raise because I cant live off $50 an hour?
  9. The cars would be slower with 8 gears. It would spend more time in between gears, than actually in a gear.
  10. Now that you mention it, it does look very French-looking, and thats not a good thing.
  11. The interior is nice except the color, and guages. The exterior is just ugly.
  12. If Delphi falls, it will only accellerate the decline of our American industries, along with that, goes the decline of the union.
  13. If left to Miller Delphi will prosper. Damn those executives that know how to run a company. What happens after those pensions are paid? No more jobs. No more jobs in the future. If Delphi dies, there will be a huge shift of jobs out of Michigan. If I lived in Michigan, I would be praying Delphi pulls through this.
  14. I agree, just look at USPS compared to UPS or Fedex, and you can see the differences. I like getting whats shipped to me in one piece, so I'll use Fedex and UPS when I have a choice.
  15. My parents make about 10-15 per hr. I dont recall not having food to eat, or place to live. Sure there have been some hard times, but that was because they spent more than they could afford to spend. You cant go out buying a new car every year on 10-15 an hour, but I would hardly call that poverty.
  16. I was car shopping with my parents a few days ago, and went for a ride in the HHR, Equinox, and Malibu. They were originally going to get a new HHR, but the $5000 markup changed their mind on that. They ended up with a used 2004 Malibu LS V6. I liked the Equinox the most, I love the interior lighting on the dash. The HHR is really tall inside, but narrow. I hate the exhaust tone on the 2.2 in the HHR. I sat in the STS, and if I had the money, I would own it right now. But as for car spottings, I saw a new Maserati. Looks nice, but for the price I would just get a Ferrari instead.
  17. Yes, they would. Just look up some of the post here. The union is going to stike at Delphi, because they would rather fight and get nothing, than concede and keep the company alive. I hope Delphi pulls through, and sheds the union.
  18. I wouldnt hold my breathe waiting for the Govt to do anything. GM and Ford will be dead before they acknowledge there may have been a problem with our current system.
  19. Until GM reduces their fleet sales, and Toyota and Honda increase them, then the articles are nowhere to be found.
  20. It will send the jobs away to never return. I dont know how that can be called protecting jobs. If I lived there, I would go work for Delphi while the workers strike just to keep the company running. It is, after all, an American company. Lets just close C&G now if we support something that could force the end of GM.
  21. All while GM has a negative pricing structure, meaning GM loses more and more each year. Then GM collapses and you wont have to worry about wages, because there wont be any jobs.
  22. I'm with you on that. I believe Delphi will pull through this, and be a better company than ever. I'm going to buy some stock myself. And why would anyone want a company with 28 billion in revenue to be closed down? They contribute the Michigan economy alot, why would anyone want to close down such a huge company in their own state? They will feel the after effects for a long time if that happens.
  23. But that is true for the opposite as well. GM dropping 10% from fleet sales could be alot lower sales. So either way we are not seeing retail numbers to compare each company.
  24. So basically tax all the companies who sell products here, to cover all the employees that work here, making it a level playing field?
  25. I agree, GM is making alot more off of Daewoo than they ever could from Subaru. Isuzu is responsible for the Duramax. Subaru didnt want to share its technology.
