  1. I think he knows. But do you expect him to state that his companies products are not as good as the competitions? Can you expect any companies CEO to openly state their products are inferior? That will not help the company at all. I'm sure if GM were allowed a level playing field, we would be able to tell the difference in the products from before and after.
  2. I completely agree with thegriffon and turbo200. Why do we need the G6 as is, when we are going to be getting the Aura also? G6 sales will tank once that car is released, assuming they will be in the same price range. Give Pontiac the RWD G6(or Tempest and GTO), and let Chevy cover the low end, and Saturn the higher end FWD midsize segment. GM does not need all 3 competing for the same customers. If the G6 isnt intended for the GTO muscle car crowd, what is it intended for? To compete with Saturn and Chevy? I'm sure "zegma" could handle what a real GTO should be also. This is what Pontiac needs, for product, and image.
  3. I could only get 15.7 in my Grand Prix GTP, but it was about 105 degrees that night, and the Eaton SC is very inefficient, so it creates enough heat on it's own. I will take it again within the next 2 weeks while it is only about 55 at night and see how it does then.
  4. Whats the point of having 9 different brands if they are all going to be doing the same thing, and be equally as slow as each other? What next? We can all look forward to the car that replaces the G6. It will be 3800lbs, with a 175hp 4cyl as the base engine. Hey it has more power than in 2005 so who cares. The 4cyl would be fine if the car still weighed 3000lbs, but it doesnt. Even my 01 Grand Am GT only weighs I think 3070lbs. And look what a performance image did for Nissan. I thought nobody cared about performance?
  5. Then compare it to a base 97 grand am. 150hp quad 4, 0-60 in 7.8 seconds. And my window sticker says $14,000.
  6. For some reason, I dont think that will be the only dealership with markups that high. Even at that price, its 1/6th the price of cars that can keep up with it.
  7. Maybe every other car should be outlawed. Then we wont speed. Do they want to come live my life for me too?
  8. I get your arguement, but lets compare apples to apples. If the Evo was all that and more, why would there be Porsches, Corvettes, Vipers, and even NSXs?
  9. I wouldnt say Infinitis are crap, I wouldnt mind a G35 coupe, but dont ask me to take it over a GTO.
  10. HHR still has markups of $3000 here. Thats down from the $5000 it was a month ago, but a markup is still a markup.
  11. They are only fools if they expected it to stay that way forever. I think the UAW leaders have some fault, and bargaining for too much, and that is why they are steadily losing members. The companies that employ those workers cant afford to pay them anymore.
  12. But the point is, alot of people are willing to pay for it. That is why we have so many choices. Does someone really NEED a Bentley or Ferrari? I think they could live without it. GM should at least offer a higher output engine for the people who want it and will pay more for it.
  13. That was already done, I forget by who, maybe AH-HA or evok, but I'm not sure. What needs to be broken down? GMs problems go far deeper than just marketing. GMs problems are in cost, and structure. Marketing cant overcome weak product.
  14. So you can sell cars. That doesnt mean you can run a company. The top executives dont need to know how to sell cars. Thats what you are for. They are there to run the company. Dont lie, you dont like Wagoner because he wont chase your ridiculous ideas, which would be a complete waste of time. Stick to what your good at, selling cars, and leave the CEO alone so he can do his job.
  15. It provides alot less investment, for only 40,000 less sales per year. That investment could go into another brand, which could easily make up those 40,000 sales, with the lower costs from not having to market a separate brand.
  16. Well cars are so much more than just necessity now. Do I need 300hp? no, but do I want it and am I willing to pay more to get it? Yes
  17. I agree. Even my 4cyl 98 Grand Am Se did 0-60 in 7.9 seconds, and now the V6 G6 cant even match that. I'm sure Pontiac could get more sales by adding the Pontiac Wave to the lineup, but I doubt that would help the brand. How about the 2.8 as the base engine with a stick instead? Pontiac needs to bring its image up to match its prices, instead of bringing its prices down to match its image.
  18. The best marketing is having a good product. Who will people trust more, a friend or family member that says the car is great, or an ad on tv?
  19. Again, your joking right? Selling cars is all about the product. You come off as having some vendetta against GMs top management. I wonder why that could be.
  20. In what way is the 5.3 stupid?
  21. Your joking right?
  22. How you do that and still be able to make money is the problem. GM could make great products, thats easy. The hard part is making great products, and still make money on them. If it was that easy, dont you think they would have done it already?
  23. You started the immature posting and your going to try to insult someone else? If it were up to me, your original post would be deleted.
  24. GM is not Nissan, GM doesnt face the same problems Nissan faced, and GM is many many times larger than Nissan. I think fixing Nissan is a piece of cake compared to what it would take to fix GM. Nissan did not lose millions of customers in the 70s and 80s. Nissan has the Japanese quality perception. Nissan does not have over a million retirees. Nissan doesn't have to adjust to the new players in the market, they are the new players in the market. The US is all growth for them since 1970 Etc....
