  1. I like it, other than the vents on the fenders.
  2. A more fair comparison would be comparing 2.5 Priuses to a Suburban.
  3. But there are people out there who will say American car companies cant make ANY quality cars, then go get in their Toyota, which in reality probably cost as much as a comparable Buick. I would also like to know why the negativity is always directed at American cars. I never hear or read anywhere that Germany cant build quality cars, so I bought Japanese. It's always American sucks, Japanese good.
  4. Well it makes sense to me. And its not just about what C&D or Motortrend write about them either. It's about what I hear people saying about them. I know a Ford family that wants to go out and buy either a GTO, or a Solstice. I hear people talking about the CTS, and obviously people are buying them because their sales have gone up since the first year, even with the mags complaining about them. The Solstice has been put down for trunk space mostly, but better than reviews of say.... a Lacrosse or the new Impala. I dont think I need to defend the GMT-900s, or the Corvette at all. They are just the best in their classes right now. The FWD midsizers are all propped up by fleets. I swear I think every Grand Prix I have seen in the past 2 weeks(no joke) have been rentals. However, that doesn't mean I think every RWD car GM made is great, and every FWD GM makes sucks.
  5. Because we need cars to back up the buzz. I can tell everyone a Cavalier is great, that doesn't mean they will think so. But if GM starting making great cars, and I told someone about it, it might be a different story. And RWD sales can grow in CA(maybe if some affordable ones were offered?) and they dont get the snow and ice the northern states get. Of course they buy FWD cars in CA, because if they didn't no one would own cars outside of BMWs and Mercedes. What other choices are there?
  6. Not to start a RWD/FWD debate again, I'm just making an observation. I think its funny that GM gets good press on their new RWD cars, but are still behind on their FWD cars. Maybe GM should have stuck with what its good at? GM can do the Solstice, CTS, STS, GMT-900s, and Corvette right, but still cant get the rest of the lineup right. Why has GM been so hellbent on not building RWD cars, when its obviously what they know and are good at?
  7. California alone probably(not 100% sure, too lazy to look it up) has a bigger market than Australia, but look at the cars they get. Why should they have cars made specifically for their market, when CA, AZ, FL, TX, and all the other states listed, cant? Maybe if GM does it right, they could even export some to other countries.
  8. I think GM should have been thinking about it in the 90s, instead of waiting 5 years after Chrysler has a big hit. GM needs to start being more aggressive, because obviously their playing it safe isnt making them money. GM needs to just go ahead with a 2+2 compact/midsize RWD coupe and sedan, before everyone else gets to it first. We already know Hyundai is getting into it with the next Tiburon. Maybe if thats a hit GM will finally get their own 5 years later?
  9. Your really getting too worked up about this. I was simply explaining my point, not attacking your views, nor attacking FWD cars. The GTO is 10 times the car my Grand Prix is, its as simple as that. If your getting annoyed by my posts, dont read them.
  10. Thats one grocery getter I'd love to own. I wanted my dads 67 but he said it was too fast for me. The engine was from a different car, probably a Camaro, but I believe it was a 327/375hp. That was the best sounding car I have ever heard in my life. I've owned a 2000 Malibu, but it wasnt as good at getting groceries with only 170hp.
  11. I dont know, I dont follow Camaros very closely, all I remember is that I had a friend who bought a 92 Z28 conv with under 100,000 miles for $4500. I've also seen a few 93 and up z28s go for under $5000 with under 100k also. But like I said I dont follow them, so it could be a good deal, I dont know.
  12. Seems kind of expensive for an auto with over 100,000 miles.
  13. Well my point is, how can someone be loyal to a car? The Malibu used to be a Chevelle Malibu, with big V8s and RWD, now, it is a bland FWD V6 fleet sedan. I'm sure there are no loyal followers of the Grand Prix that will only buy one specific Grand Prix, and no other car. I'm sure many who seem loyal, would not turn down a GTO given the chance to own one. I was thinking by loyal followers you meant, the people who own one, search all the websites for mods for them, and like to talk on forums with other people who have them, which I do. Loyal doesnt necessarily mean you think the cars perfect, and nothing should ever be changed about it, at least to me it doesnt.
  14. I agree. They dont work as hardtops, especially with the top extending all the way back. They should give up with the hardtops unless they can get it right like on the Corvette.
  15. Yes, it is very annoying. Usually thats what older people here use. I rarely see anyone under 60 use checks. I dont even use them to pay my bills. If it cant be paid online, I dont need it. I never carry cash, unless someone gives it to me because they owed me.
  16. I was just at the Sahara last weekend. I'll have to go back once thats open.
  17. So if GM turned the Grand Am into an echo you would still be loyal?
  18. Would only having 2 valves per cylinder be the cause of that? 3 valve heads might solve that. You could also just go switch to a high lift cam, that will help the engine keep breathing. And I bet those DOHC engines wouldnt even fit under the low hood of the Vette.
  19. Me too. But sadly alot of them have a little green e on them. I think I see more 300s with hemis than I see of new Impalas. I have yet to see an SS other than at the dealership. The 300 is more of a competitor to the Bonneville than the Impala. The Camry outsells the 3 series, but that doesn't make it a better car.

    .....

I'm very skeptical that Toyota will hit their sales targets. The Trailblazer has one of the ugliest interiors for a midsize SUV, but no SUV could touch its sales other than the Explorer. The Colorado interior is ugly, and only has an I5, but still at the top in sales. The Ranger is almost older than I am, but is still at the top. And now that GM will be putting world class interiors, more powerful, and more efficient engines, and 10x the refinement previously in any GM vehicle into the new trucks, Toyota is going to hit 250,000? I doubt it.
  21. Oh dont worry, there will be thousands lining up to take your place. The other 15.8 million cars sold in the US dont have dent resistant plastic body panels. People dont seem to care. I'm waiting for a Sky redline, and could care less about plastic panels.
  22. When my parents were buying a car they were all marked up to $25,000. The stripper model was $23,000. So yes, they are, or at least were. They couldn't keep them on the lot.
  23. If a V8 fits, I want it. I dont like big cars, midsize and smaller for me. But I like big engines. I like how V8s sound. I want a 3,000lb small-midsize RWD coupe, with a V8.
  24. Astros have loyal followings in Japan, even the Aztek has a loyal following. What does that mean? I wanted a Grand Prix ever since the restyle in 97. I could never afford one. I went through 3 Grand Ams. Then I could afford a Grand Prix so I bought one. I love the car, and it is almost perfect. I love the style. But it should be RWD with a V8. The GTO fixes that, and almost has the same looks. The GTO is not perfect either, it's too big, and a few hundred lbs too heavy. And about the Impala vs. 300, the 300 is doing better in the market. The 300s avg transaction price was around $29,000. I'm sure people aren't even buying full loaded Impala's for that price. The Impala is not bringing in new buyers. The 300 is. People who never considered a Chrysler before are buying 300s. If you wouldn't consider a Chevy, then the Impala would not change that. Also Chrysler is not Chevy. They could have identical cars, and Chevy would still sell more.
  25. I love my Grand Prix, but I'd dump it in a heartbeat for a GTO, or Pontiac 3 series, or Sky redline or.....the list goes on
