  1. I didn't say successful product cant change an image, just that some brands would be alot easier than others. Buick will take a few generations of cars before their image changes, while Cadillac should be able to do it in 2 generations.
  2. Come to think about it, GM is doing a really good job of making Pontiacs less and less appealing to me. Outside of the Solstice(which I still like the Sky more) and the GTO, there is no other Pontiac I would buy. GM needs to start giving Pontiac some better products, and the G5 is not it.
  3. I think Cadillacs image never got that bad. I think people want to see Cadillac succeed. They are sort of protected from the bad image GMs other brands have IMO. That is why the CTS was the hit it was. I dont think it would have been received as well as it was if it were a Buick.
  4. Do they support them? Or are they just afraid, or want to avoid crossing them to get in the store?
  5. Thats what I was thinking. Saturn has no negative image to fight, since it wasn't around through GM's dark years. No image is easier to fix than bad image. I'm talking about bad image, in the eyes of people buying Hondas and Toyotas, not the in the eyes GM fans on this site. Of course we all think _______(insert GM brand here) should get whatever Saturn is getting, because we are fans of those brands, so we dont see them as having a negative image.
  6. Thats what I think GM should do. How it is with the GTO now, would be like having a CTS-V, with no base CTS, or a Z06 with no base Corvette. Regardless of how great the cars are, they cant survive on their own. And if its not a true coupe, dont call it GTO. Call it anything else, even Tempest, but not GTO.
  7. And obviously not everyone wants a bad handling cruiser either, or Buick sales would be much greater, and nobody would buy BMWs.
  8. Well I have about 280hp and 310 ft/lbs of torque, and my car has 0 torque steer. It's the traction(tires spun up to almost 50mph last friday at the track) and handling balance that makes me want RWD.
  9. pepper
  10. Some of you are really taking this too far. You are not responsible for the site. It is not your responsability to run the site, or manage how it is run, so let it go. It's over. Mistake or no mistake, it's done and over with.
  11. Well there you go. I dont want a big car. I dont want a roomy car. I dont want bench seats, or column shifters either. I dont care how big the backseat is, or even if there is a backseat. Thats exactly my point.I'll trade space for performance. I'll give up a quiet cabin, for a more performance oriented suspension and tires, and to strip away the heavy sound deadening material.
  12. The whole Buick image is the complete opposite of how I like my cars. I want to hear my engine, I like to hear my supercharger whining. I like direct tight steering, not vague, mushy steering. I hate Buicks oval grill. When I think of Buick, I picture a 75 year old going 10mph under the speed limit. The last Buick I would consider was killed in 87. GM can't make Buicks appeal to me, yet still appeal to their core buyers. If Buick's were made to fit my tastes, many Buick fans on this site would not be fans anymore.
  13. Honestly, if they were Buicks I wouldn't buy them. And it would clash with Pontiacs line-up that are sold in the same dealership.
  14. Why cant they just rename it if they do that? Porsche wouldn't make a 911 SUV, Toyota wont make a 4 door FWD Supra, for good reasons. Pontiac shouldn't take their most legendary name, and apply it to a 4 door.
  15. I agree. Either make it right, or leave it dead. Or if GM is set on it being a 4 door, just rename it. GM doesn't make Corvettes with backseats, and they shouldn't make GTO's with 4 doors.
  16. No one stays on top for ever. Toyota has a reputation now, partially because of the low quality cars GM made during the 70s and 80s. The people who will never buy an American car because their pinto was crap are going to die off eventually. People growing up now will see GM cars are no longer crap, and wont be turned off American cars once they are ready to buy a car. No company is unstoppable.
  17. It's not easy for me to pick. I like alot of different breeds. I had a lab, an akita/shephard, a boxer, aust shephard/border collie, rottie/lab. They have all been great lovable dogs.
  18. Dont mix the 2, you will end up with a very lazy dog. Or my dog is just not normal. He is the laziest of my 3 dogs.
  19. and heating and a/c systems
  20. It is cold when I wake up, like 45-50. I use my seat warmer and turn on the heater on my way to work.
  21. Those payouts to the top execs are pretty ridiculous, they could at least wait until they turn the company around. Losing $5B a month will cripple GM. The only other option Delphi has is to utilize their overseas operations, but scrambling to meet demand in overseas plants I imagine would have a negative impact on quality, which is another thing GM cant afford right now. Those workers have to know that if they strike, they most likely wont have a job once its all over. I know they want to fight for what they feel they earned, but when theres nothing left there wont be anything to fight for. And if the entire US auto industry fails, who would be paying their debt, and pensions? If the auto industry goes down, there would be no union left. What a mess.
  22. No they dont, but Cadillacs pricing is more messed up than the sizing. I hope its only temporary while Cadillac builds it's image. The CTS should be priced more like the 5 series, instead of the 3 series, that would leave room for a 3 series competitor starting in the $30ks. Cadillac shouldn't be the poor mans luxury brand. They should be the brand that people pay $10k more for just to have the Caddy badge on the front.
  23. :withstupid: But I dont want sub-compact either. A small midsize would be the right size.

    .....

Well GM still wouldn't be losing a sale by not building it sooner, because your other alternative is a GM vehicle anyway.
  25. Yes, but keep in mind a new Avalanche is right around the corner. Some may be waiting for the new model.
