  1. They need to be careful what they wish for. Their actions cant be undone, and if their lives suddenly get 10 times worse because of their own actions, the rest of the country wont want to support it. Their all or nothing mentality will leave them with nothing in the end. You strike, you lose. Simple as that.
  2. Well they will all be hit the hardest if they decide to play chicken with GM and they collide. When the dust settles, I'll still have my job.
  3. I could live with that, but dont think it will happen.
  4. But unlike gold and titanium, people need gas to live their daily lives. Why are monopies not allowed? The gas companies basically have a monopoly, because they know they dont have to compete with each other. If one raises their price, the rest raise their price too.
  5. I'm guessing both. But if GM gives Pontiac a full line of kappa II small cars(2+2 coupe/sedan/Solstice) I'll forgive them.
  6. They wont be voted in? Get out of Michigan, the rest of the country doesn't care. This arguement has been played up for the past 30 years, and it's just getting weaker every year that passes.
  7. But they at least looked good. Dont forget, tire technology was nowhere near where it is today. And the Monte Carlo should be RWD with a big powerful V8, then it would be a real Monte Carlo. Even the Honda Accord gets similar times to the current Monte Carlo, so what makes it so special? My Grand Prix got those times and its now 8 years old.
  8. Not gonna happen. The rest of the country doesnt care about the Union, we just want great cars. The only place that really matters is Michigan. The other 49 states dont care.
  9. There will always be more companies, but once the union is gone, I doubt it's coming back. Without the automakers, the union would be pretty much extinct. If the carmakers go down, I'd be planning to move away from Michigan in a hurry.
  10. Wouldn't a dual clutch 6 speed be better for that? It can have the gear preselected. And at what cost do you get a slight benefit of having basically inbetween gears? If there would only be a 500-1000rpm difference in gears then is it really worth the added weight/cost/complexity? I assume it is not a small transmission, and would have adverse effects on packaging as well.
  11. And we wonder why the transplants are increasing capacity and hiring workers while the domestics are reducing it, and getting rid of as many workers as possible.
  12. It already is a Buick, the Lucerne. The Buick looks better too.
  13. But Chevy doesn't need exposure, everyone has heard of it. If they haven't bought a Chevy yet, Nascar wont change that.
  14. I predict that is a very, very low estimate.
  15. While that may be true, Cadillac wouldn't be aiming at all. Cadillac needs an SLK and Z4 competitor, but Saab is getting it instead. Give Caddy a mini XLR with a 3.6 and TT 3.6 for the V, and it will get even higher prices than the Saab.
  16. 14.8 sec @ 95 mph and he's complaining because it feels slow? I only did the 1/4 in 14.8s at ~94 in my Grand Prix GTP, and it weighs 2000lbs less. How fast is the LX470 that I'm sure he raves about? So now that theres no more 4 speed, he needs something new to complain about, so he says it feels slow. He should stop smoking whatever he's smoking
  17. Actually it should be in the low 15s, not 14s for the 1/4mi, though you got the high 6s right for 0-60. But try taking your car to a track and getting those numbers, you wont. And to answer your question, yes, it still is. At 30 years newer, it should get better times than that.
  18. So because it can drift, that means it handles better? Drifting is a show, not the fastest way around the turn.
  19. Why would Saab get a car to compete with the Audi TT, when Cadillac needs one?
  20. And GM doesn't need another sales channel, especially one by the Daewoo name. They will sell better as a Chevy. It's not like GM can make a profitable small car here. By your definition, the entire Lexus brand, until recently, would be false advertisement. I dont think it's the name your mad about, just where it's made. If those Daewoos were made by UAW workers and sold as a Chevy, would that be ok?
  21. In very limited numbers, yes it will sell. It wont sell like the Corvette, but it should do ok. Though at that price it is competing with the Z06, I think based on performance alone, the Nissan wont stand a chance, but then again, how many sports cars have a chance anyway, at any price? Whether it is an Infiniti or a Nissan though, I dont think it really matters.
  22. So what should Vauxhall be?And GM cant sell Daewoos in the US. They are all GMs, and should be badged to fit each specific market. The rebadging I'm against, is things like the CSVs and G5. I'm for whatever brings us better cars. Bring on the Monaros and Astras and all the other good cars GM makes overseas. It's all about the product.
  23. And the GTO sells almost half the volume of the entire Saab brand. Doesn't the Monaro only sell about 3000 per year, and the GTO about 5 times that?
  24. Sounds annoying. I would find some software to remove that if it were my car.
  25. Yes, that is so annoying, when your going a little too fast for second, but too slow for 3rd, so instead of a surge of power, you get a gradual increase while you get back into the powerband. 5 and 6 speeds are an improvement over 4 speeds, but I dont think 7 or 8 is necessary, or of any benefit.
