  1. I guess I'm not in the majority then, I can't stand heavy metal.
  2. Speaking from experiance, my transmission could only handle about 320ft lbs, and 280hp, then 3rd gear started slipping and I had it rebuilt with kevlar clutches. When it went bad, all I had done to my car was a reprogrammed computer, and a smaller pulley. The engine itself can handle alot more power.
  3. Fleet? 70+ year old buyers? That's definately what Cadillac needs more of. Cadillac sells better than Rolls Royce or Bentley, but that that doesn't make them better cars. Just think, Cadillac USED to be a competitor to both of those companies. Now what does it compete with? BMW? Don't think so, not when Cadillac's similarly sized cars have to be sold at a 30% discount. Don't worry, once the DTS is gone, you can still get a Lincoln like you want.
  4. Other, I don't want a big honkin' car, but I'll take the V8. Something like a... Corvette or new GTO, and for a second car, my economy car, would be a RWD G6 if one ever gets built. If gas does get crazy expensive to where I can't afford to have a V8 or V6, I would get a car like a diesel Astra. I would also consider hydrogen, but still think it has a long way to go and some obstacles to overcome before it's feasible.
  5. Well, I wasn't serious. Gas costs aren't hurting me too bad. If anything, my habits are what cost me the most. Eating out, joyriding, and putting the occasional car that thinks it's fast in it's place :AH-HA_wink:
  6. Bunch of whiners, try driving a V8 400hp car 36 miles one way to work everyday like I do. It's actually not too bad on gas, I'm getting around 20mpg combined, and I could get about 24-25 if I set the cruise at 70-75mph. That, and gas is still around $3.07 here, or since I put premium it's $3.27. I also just started carpooling, so that dropped my gas cost to half what it was.
  7. No, your confusing what you want with what they need. Cadillac needs to be able to command higher prices for their cars, they Don't need FWD wanna-be luxury cars that can't compete with other cars it's size. If money were no object(which for most people that buy luxury cars that is true), which is a better car, 760iL or a DTS? Cadillacs goal should be to make a better car then other luxury makes, not a cheaper car. Or rename it: Cadillac, the Standard of the World, if you can't afford a BMW or Mercedes.
  8. A whole thread just because the RDX is 2 inches shorter than the Equinox? Someone must be bored today.......
  9. Why? We don't differentiate here in the US whether the parts are US or Canadian. If anything, it should say NA sourced parts.
  10. Most cars automatically unlock when you pull on the handle and the car is off.
  11. Nav in the malibu should be offered. Why are options bad? It can make the car seem more high tech, and up to the standards of the competition, and bring GM some much needed extra revenue due to higher sale prices.
  12. I happen to agree with 68, about B pillars. I can tolerate them, but only if they are done right, like the GTO. I absolutely can't stand the B pillar on the Mustang. Location of the B pillar is one of the reasons why I like coupes so much more than sedans, in a sedan the b pillar is basically right where I like to put my arm, and in coupes, its further back. But I'm also someone who puts the windows down in 100+ degree weather. Another annoying trend I have seen in newer Chevys, is that they keep making the door lock stick up, even when the doors are locked. Is it that hard to make it sit flush?
  13. Ahh, so maybe this should be advertised during the PGA tour, since people buying BMWs must play golf. I listen to rap, and bought a GTO, and cross shopped with BMWs. Here's a better question, do people who listen to rap buy cars? Yes. Who helped the Escalade get its bling bling image? It's called marketing.
  14. I'm starting to think GM might have had something to do with this. GM knows if Cerberus breaks up the union, that benefits GM as well, or, if they sell Chrysler in pieces, that also benefits GM. GM does have ties with Cerberus, since they are co-owner of GMAC. Maybe the speculation of GM buying Chrysler was really just GM pulling the strings behind this deal.
  15. I saw a DTS convertible driving around here in AZ a few weeks ago. I think it looks better with the top down than up.
  16. M45 G35 coupe 350Z TL Altima NSX Legacy IS Tiburon TSX
  17. The insurance for the GTO is actually very low compared to similar cars. It's cheaper than the much less powerful 3 series, G35, 350Z, and is barely higher than my 98 Grand Prix GTP. It's equal to a 3.6L CTS with the sport suspension. Being 22, I wouldn't have bought a GTO if the insurance was high. Also, not everyone can afford a BMW 5 series. The V8 G8 will have over 100 more hp and still be $20,000 cheaper than the BMW. If you want the BMW but can't afford it, logic tells me you will buy the most similar car that you can afford. That's the G8. I like BMWs, but they seem too underpowered for me. The only one I have a real interest in is the 335i, the M3, and the M5. I was on my way to go look at a 330i when I got a call from the person I bought the GTO from. It took me 3 months to find the GTO how I wanted it. I looked at at least 10 different dealerships, and none of them could hold on to the 05-06 manual GTOs for more than a couple of days. And still, every other GTO I drive by, the driver waves to me, I guess they love their car as much as I love mine. Someone even picked up their camera, and took a picture of my car when I was pulling into a parking lot.
  18. Well they're not stand alone, so they don't have to worry about only selling 100,000 cars. There's still 500,000 GMCs and 200,000 Pontiacs. Also, why not just offer every Pontiac, with the exception to the Solstice, with RWD and AWD? AWD is easier to do on a RWD platform than it is to do on a FWD platform anyway.
  19. You just described the Saturn Astra, except for the Pontiac interior. Actually I've had 4 Pontiacs with Pontiac interiors... they're crap. The GTO interior is 1000 times better.
  20. Whos to say prelude owners don't apsire to own S2000s and Supras but can't afford them?Saturn WILL have that fun to drive compact, it's called the Astra.
  21. I love it, it looks like the Torana.
  22. Lets say Pontiac goes all RWD, and their volume is less than half of what they do now. Are those people that currently buy Pontiacs now, going to be so depressed that they never buy a new car again? Just because they can't get their Pontiac in FWD so they can drive in the snow? Probably not. They will still buy cars, just not Pontiacs. Most likely Chevy or Saturn, since they are currently at a similar price point, especially if the new Chevy and Saturns are drastically improved, as they appear to be. So the G5 and G6 buyers abandon Pontiac, and now buy Astras and Auras, why is that so bad? Then where will Pontiacs new buyers come from? My guess is Dodge, Nissan, probably some from Honda, maybe even some from BMW that don't care for the extra luxuries like IDrive, and just want a fun to drive RWD car, not to mention existing Pontiac/Chevy buyers that want more performance that isn't currently offered without spending an additional $10k for that BMW they can't afford. Basically, the less cars Pontiac sells that are similar to Chevy and Saturn, the more buyers there are available for actual Chevy and Saturns. GM can't make a Saturn for everyone, a Chevy for everyone, a Cadillac for everyone, a Pontiac for everyone etc. because then we have 80 watered down cars that excel at nothing and are mediocre at everything because they all try to be everything to everyone. Oh wait, that's what we have now. GM needs to use it's brands as an advantage so they can be more focused than the competition, instead of as a disadvantage as they currently are now.
  23. I'm 22, and I have seen many Pontiacs that were built before I was born. In fact, the 66-67 GTO/Tempest/Le Mans remains one of my favorite cars, and someday I plan on owning one. My brother even owned a 67 GTO, Tempest, and Le Mans . My dad probably has about 8 cars built before 1973 currently. So what does age have to do with anything? Or are you just mad because Holden makes better Pontiacs than Pontiac itself?
  24. Nah, your getting the GTO confused with the 04+ Grand Prix
  25. Ha.... Is that why I love it so much more than my 98 Grand Prix GTP? Must be. Is that why it has the best interior of any GM car I've been in? Must be. Not only do I find all different kinds of people staring and pointing at it (younger-older) but other people that drive GTOs wave everytime they see my car. They must also love their GTO as much as I do. Where was the public uproar when GM gave Pontiac the Montana, the Torrent, the G5, etc? IMO The GTO is the BEST Pontiac in 30 years. Personally, when the time comes, I will have a very hard time replacing my GTO. Why is there so much negativity for the GTO, when none of Pontiacs other cars even come close, including the Solstice GXP? GM finally makes a truly amazing car, and GM's own fans kill it.
