  1. Hey I found a car that meets that description. Click Wait, here's another
  2. But Pontiac needs to offer it. That's the market they need to go after. They can't claim they build excitement, then not offer a stick. That's like saying, only X% of the buying public are enthusiasts. Does that mean you should stop offering cars for enthusiasts? And why would the gas guzzler thing be a problem with manuals? Manuals almost always get better gas mileage than their automatic counterparts. The GTO for example. Get an auto, pay the gas guzzler tax, it was rated 16/21. The option to get a manual was around $1500, but no more gas guzzler tax. it was rated at 17/25. The V6 and the V8 needs to have the stick available.
  3. That's not necessarily true. Just because it can achieve it's ratings while cruising, doesn't mean there nothing is wrong. Computers continuously adjust based on a number of factors. The car can be running lean while cruising, then running rich when accelerating. Supercharged Grand Prixs were usually tuned to run rich under heavy acceleration, to curb detonation, because the richer fuel mixture was cooler.
  4. How is that true? My car gets it's best mileage in 6th gear, staying at steady speeds. I have found that my car gets better mileage when I shift from 1st, to 4th, to 6th. Manuals are more efficient, because they put more power to the wheels when compared to automatics.
  5. But he was comparing price, not sales. I believe his point was that you can get a G8 for not much more than the average V6 family sedan, not that it will outsell them.
  6. You need to have service done on your car then. I use my AC 90% of the time, and I averaged almost 24mpg on my last tank of gas. Even pure city driving, I don't get 17mpg. My car almost has 3 times the power, and weighs about 800lbs more than a Cobalt.
  7. I think it has more to do with where it was designed. It is Pontiac's best design currently, IMO better than the Solstice. But to some people, it is disqualified because it is designed by Australians instead of Americans. All I have to say to those people, is keep your G6s, G5s, Grand Prixs, Torrents, and Vibes and all the other horrible American designs to come from Pontiac in the past few years. I'll take a black G8 GT.
  8. I would take the CTS over the Charger SRT-8, even with less horsepower. I would take the G8 GT over both the Charger and CTS. The base chargers don't even look that special anymore. I see them everywhere, in rental car silver or white. Though they do look good in SRT-8 trim, in black or orange.
  9. The G8 is a whole lot more car than the Grand Prix. The G8 replaces both the Grand Prix and Bonneville. It is being sold in limited numbers. The Grand Prix, is also way too cheap, because it is old and outdated. That should not dictate the price of the G8.
  10. What are you doing to that poor Cobalt? My GTO doesn't even do that bad.
  11. I see them all the time here. I drove to Scottsdale last week, and I saw 3 of them within 20 minutes. I usually see one every couple of days, besides mine.
  12. I disagree. :AH-HA_wink: It is the second. GTO being the first. This just follows in the GTO's footsteps.
  13. And the V6 only makes 15 hp less than the Bonneville GXP did.
  14. And, why all this complaining, in a thread about GM's next gen engines, where power figures aren't even released? Toyota will be chasing GM with their trucks, yet again.
  15. Doesn't it also have twin turbos? Or is it a supercharger? Let's compare once the Blue Devil is for sale, shall we? Have you ever driven a GTO with a 6.0L? You understand that peak torque tells you nothing right? It could have 399 at 2800rpm and 400 at 4400rpm, but guess what, that would make the peak torque at 4400rpm. I drive a GTO every day, it is certainly not lacking any torque. Wait, don't you also praise BMW's M engines? Hows the torque on those?
  16. GM has plenty of V8s, that make big power, and get good gas mileage, and that's even before DI and the rest of the technology GM is working on. Toyota is merely catching up. Toyota has had their 5.7 out less than a year, and already you think they are the standard for trucks? GM has been on top for years and years. If the Toyota's are so great, why does it need to much cash on the hood to move compared the GM's trucks? Isn't the take rate for the 5.7 low compared to the 4.7? Maybe, just maybe, truck buyers care about more than drag racing.
  17. I would've liked to see $26,500 for the V6, but still not bad. The V8 price seems just right. GM just needs to hurry up with the manual transmission option. That's a deal breaker for me, and it really goes against the image Pontiac needs to build.
  18. Your missing the point. GM has been ahead with their V8s as long as I can remember. In 99, GM offered a 285 hp 5.3L. Whenever the Titan came out (04?), they finally made more power than GM, with 305 hp. GM already has the 6.2 in the Escalade, 403hp. How much power does a truck need? GM already gets the best gas mileage out of any full size truck. GM is already working on a diesel to fit in the 1/2 tons, which is more of an acheivement than Toyota offering 380hp. GM will be offering a 330hp hybrid truck with over 20mpg in the city. The target is moving, that target is GM.
  19. To be fair, the Chevelle is almost 1000lbs lighter than the Mercedes
  20. It happens to me just about every other day.
  21. Which makes it even more amazing that the Taurus has just a good ratings. Though, I don't remember what they were exactly.
  22. The sludging issues affecting Toyota V6s, which affected all vehicles with that engine, which included the Camry. Wasn't it something like 3.3 Million engines potentially affected?
  23. While I support Cadillac becoming more European in some ways(smaller size, stiffer handling, no more DTS's), I don't want Cadillac to become European. Meaning, the engine is perfect for this car. American V8 rumble, supercharger whine.... this is a luxury car with attitude. The way a Cadillac should be.
  24. Doesn't bother me, I'm set on the orange convertible anyway, which doesn't have a b pillar
  25. So, does Alpha mean a true 3 series fighter for Cadillac, and a version for Pontiac? Will it be coupe and sedan? Please make it look exactly like the Torana with a Pontiac grill!!
