  1. It doesn't need AWD. It needs to be mid-engine, as in, engine behind the driver. The fastest cars around a track, are still mid-engine-RWD cars. Mclaren F1 and Koenigsegg CCR don't have AWD, but still beat every AWD car around the track. Put more weight over the rear wheels, and you get more traction, without the weight penalty, and parasitic losses of AWD. Like anything mechanical, AWD drains power because there are more moving parts and more weight to be turned. It's the same reason you would choose a lightweight driveshaft as opposed to a heavier driveshaft.
  2. I agree with focusing on areas we can lead. But, I don't see the Japanese as the clear leader in autos, and autos being such emotional objects, unlike tvs for example, it is a market we should not give up. The Japanese offer very little I could see myself owning.
  3. That's how it was for me when I was buying. 04 Auto, $19,500 05 manual, $25,500. It was well worth it in IMO
  4. Isn't the orange on black 06 only? That's the color I wanted the most. My second choice was blue on blue. Considering it took me 3 months to find an 05 6 speed, I wasn't going to be picky about color, unless it was silver. My exhaust definitely sounds better than the 04 GTO I test drove. I drove to work with the radio off today just so I could listen to it!
  5. Current, or soon to be Pontiacs: http://www.automedia.com/NewCarBuyersGuide...rrent_ext_1.jpg Current or soon to be Holdens: I must not understand you, because all the current Pontiac designs suck, badly.
  6. Go with the 05-06 6 speed. The 6.0L feels so much more powerful than the 5.7L, and the dual exhaust is amazing.
  7. Nevermind, if he was drifting, the wheels would be turned to the right.
  8. He's drifting
  9. Do you need some more examples of Pontiac designed sheetmetal? I can google a few Azteks, and G6 GXPs if you'd like.
  10. Except, if it was turning to the left, it would be leaning the other way
  11. Which that should be the goal, not protectionism.
  12. If you flip the car over, it says Made in Australia Well not exactly. Take a wheel off however, and the brakes say it.
  13. Torana and G8 would be the perfect 1-2 punch for Pontiac. I think that those 2 cars would turn the tide regarding Pontiac's image. The tight proportions is what makes the G8 and Torana look so much more expensive.
  14. Exactly. Pontiacs American designers have been striking out lately, well, from the looks of it, it goes back 30 years. That is why I trust Holden with designing new Pontiacs. Torana, G8, GTO, Chinese Buicks > G6, G5, Grand Prix, Boneville, and pretty much any other Pontiac in the past 30 years.
  15. After reading it again, you didn't say Chevy. I just saw Cobalt and assumed you were talking about a Cobalt replacement.
  16. I completely agree. The Pontiac might not be as aggressive, but it looks so much more expensive.
  17. No, that would go to Pontiac. A Cobalt FWD/AWD, yes, RWD, No.
  18. Now there's a thought. Why should we be trying to compete on price with low wage countries? We should be pushing the high tech envelope, you know, the stuff those low wage countries either can't do, or wouldn't be cost effective for them to do? Do we really need things like the textile industry back so Americans can be making clothes again? We need to focus on education more. Economics classes also need to start much earlier than the last year of high school. There is nothing wrong with free trade, just like there is nothing wrong with competition. We are losing the free trade competition, so everyone just wants to give up and resort to protectionism?
  19. I've seen 3 new CTS's so far.
  20. One thing I don't understand, is why did GM use the 361hp 6.0L, instead of the 400hp 6.0L? I hope they at least tune the exhaust the exact same way as the LS2 GTOs.
  21. I think the Charger looks ok, but it got very stale, very fast. Now I think it only looks good in SRT-8 trim, or if it has big chrome wheels on it, and only if it is in a good color, like black. Silver/white Chargers look like plain rentals. They all still look stubby. The G8 has a more refined, more luxurious look.
  22. Hope your good friends driving around in this. Because your going to be REALLY close to each other.
  23. He's talking about the interiors. Which I have to disagree with that as well. The GTO has one of the best interiors GM has ever made, except maybe the new CTS. And the outside looks more like the current 5 series than anything. Not a 10 year old 5 series. In fact, I would say the G8 looks better than the 5 series.
  24. All I know, is that my next car will be a manual. No manual, no sale. My car has 1-4 skip shift, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Even in 4th gear the car has no problem accelerating. I don't think skip shift should be used on the V6, but on the V8 it's fine.
  25. Now here's an exciting Pontiac, nothing flat about this car at all.
