  1. A 25% increase in gas prices will cost me $120 more per month....
  2. It $3.29 for 87 here
  3. After reading everyone's reviews of the G8, it makes me want one more. I'm happy they did not soften the suspension. All it needs now is a 430hp 6.3L, 6 speed manual, and 2 less doors, and I'd be at the dealership.
  4. I don't think the GT will get the manual because it has AFM.
  5. The G8 GT is going to be slower to rev than even a Corvette or a GTO, since it has AFM, which adds extra weight to the drivetrain. If I get a G8, it would have to be the GXP manual version, because I don't want AFM. I'm guessing only the V6 and GXP are going to get manuals as an option for the same reason. When I drive the GTO, it can appear to be in "slumber mode" when just driving the car around and not getting on it. I think it is necessary to be able to drive the car in any sort of a docile manner.
  6. Now back to the topic, GM should build the coupe 60, and I would even like them to call it a GTO again. If they build one and give it around 420-430hp, I'll be buying it.
  7. Also, cars like the GTO and G8 are improving Pontiac's image. Just because Pontiac's image has been dragged through the mud with cars like the Aztek, Montana, and other cars that have no performance to back up what a Pontiac should be, doesn't mean real cars that improve Pontiac's image should be cancelled. Toyota should have just packed up and gone home for good when their first car here was a flop. Then they should have given up on full size trucks, for the first, second, and now the third try too, right?
  8. Like I said, obviously you haven't tried shopping for one. I own one, so I have tried shopping for one, and it took me 3 months to find it too. Also, I did a search on Autotrader for GTOs within 200 miles of my zip code, it came up with 11. Average price: $24,946. Price I paid for mine a year ago: $25,200. I think for a 3 year old car that would be very good.
  9. Obviously you haven't tried shopping for a used GTO, or even looked up their current value, have you? They hold their value better than pretty much any other GM car including Cadillacs. Please come back to reality and stop spreading lies to make your opinions seem right.
  10. This almost makes me want to sell my GTO and get a G8 GXP... almost. Sell the Coupe 60, and almost, would turn into definately. Though, why only 402hp? The 6.0L in my GTO makes 400. Hopefully final numbers are edged up to 415-420 range.
  11. well maybe its not too many brands that is causing gm to not succeed, as you keep suggesting. maybe gm is simply using the brands wrong? obviously toyota can make so many brands work, so it can't be too many brands that is the factor bringing gm down.
  12. Toyota also owns nearly 50% of the Japanese market? toyota had 1.6 million sales in japan in 06 compared to over 4 million sales in the us for gm in 06. why does toyota get a free pass for having so many channels, brands, and models in japan, with only 1/3 the sales gm has in the us?
  13. There's also a ton of oil in the shale around CO, UT, and WY in the mountains (reported to be higher than the amount of oil that Saudi Arabia has). So if your concern is about buying our from foreign counties, then that would actually be a good thing. Once they run out of oil, the US will have the largest known deposits of oil, though it is more expensive and more difficult to extract. They are testing super heaters which cause the oil to come out of the shale.
  14. Why isn't an Audi or BMW as quiet as a Lexus? Why isn't a Lexus as powerful or as fast as a Mercedes or BMW? Why doesn't Lexus make an SUV that gets 20mpg and goes 0-60 in 5.5 seconds? Why is BMW going to be using a shared hybrid design with GM, which neither will do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds? Why can't the X5 outhandle the SRX? Anyone can come up with the lame comparisons that you do. There are more to cars than just a spec sheet, which seems to be your only knowledge about any of the cars you like to compare. Oh, and if there's a new GTO, I'll be buying one. Especially if it looks exactly like the Coupe 60.
  15. Maybe, just maybe, the roof caved in on the suburban because it weighs 3 tons? The Camaro is already going to be 4000lbs. Who is going to buy a 4400lb Camaro? I like hardtops too, but to say a car is crap because it has a B pillar is just crazy. My family has had all kinds of cars from a 63 Impala hardtop to a 67 GTO, 67 Chevelle, and Olds 442, all hardtops. People do not want stripped down cars. I know I don't. How fun would a hardtop be if you couldn't even reach the other side of the car to put the window down?
  16. You're the winner. It's a 5 speed manual. I picked it up for $3500. It's nicely equipped, with heated leather seats, power windows, and a power moonroof. The passenger front window seems to have fallen off the track, so most likely I will be taking the door panel off this weekend to fix it. It has $140k miles, but it drives like it has 50k. I needed a second car so I don't put so many miles on my GTO (already has 37k on it, compared to 14k when I bought it a year ago). With the GTO, I get about 20mpg. From the readout on the dash in the Passat, I am getting about 32mpg. Here is the ad from the Autotrader: Passat 1.8T
  17. RBB (the beetle, though I would never own a beetle)and smallchevy are the closest.
  18. I drove one of those. I didn't like it because the steering wheel would not go high enough. I could barely fit my legs underneath it.
  19. It's a turbo 4 cyl, and it's an import, and is less than 10 years old. Any guesses? I got it so I don't have to drive the GTO as much, since I live 35 miles from my work. I'll take some pictures soon.
  20. Because it's fun to just go out for target practice? Just like I own a jet ski because I like to go jet skiing. Whats wrong with owning a gun as a hobby?
  21. Sir, I know you were looking for a Corvette ZR1, but since we don't have the color you want, we have a nice Silverado that fits your needs. Nope, don't think that works. I'm sure the Tribute is cannibalizing MX5 sales as we speak.
  22. Not only do they want to be paid more, but they demand products at a lower price. How many on this board would complain if the Cobalt was repriced at $18,000, the Malibu at $26,000, and Impala was $35,000? What if the G8 was $40,000 for the GT? Shouldn't that be a good thing, because the money goes to a US company, and helps the US company make money? On one hand, you have GM fans complaining the price is too high, on the other hand, you have union workers complaining they want to get paid more.
  23. Gun Control is part of the reason I don't want to leave AZ to move closer to my parents in CA.
  24. Those banks are partially owned by foreign investors because of their own doing. They were underwriting risky loans. You could also blame US consumers as well. Those interest only mortgages is what is causing the huge losses for banks. Everyone got the interest only loans at the same time, then at the end of the 3 years when the payment would be adjusted, they all went to sell because they couldn't afford the P&I payment. Houses values tanked because of it, no one could sell their houses, then the mass foreclosures started. Was that Japans fault?
  25. I think they would be more screwed than we would. About planes and guns, many, many countries buy their planes and guns from us. Should they stop, since they should not be outsourcing them? I believe even Japan has a trade deficit with the US when it comes to planes. Why is it so hard to believe that other countries buying stuff from us, and us buying from them, benefits both sides? The more advanced China gets, the more they will buy from us. They could not buy anything from us until recently, because they couldn't afford to. Now that some can, just look at the impact it has on one of our American companies already- GM. GM has double digit growth in both sales and profits. If that helps GM become a healthy company again, how is that bad for our economy? If it helps GM make the money it needs to do the R&D for better engines, or to support RWD platforms like Zeta, how is that hurting us?
