  1. To me it looks like that Alfa Romeo. I forgot the name of it though. Looks great on the outside, but horrible interior.
  2. Yep, that one. But it won an award, so all is forgiven. How else will you be able to go around telling everyone you have an award winning car? But the G8 has a cheap plastic interior like the GTO, which both have better interiors than almost all the rest of GM's cars with the exception of some Cadillacs. Maybe if it won an award the interior would look better? And people wonder why RWD cars don't sell? Almost everyone on here who claims to love RWD, nitpicks everything on every RWD car. Too much plastic, has a B pillar, iDrive, not styled good enough etc. Personally, I take what I can get. If it has the price, the mechanicals, and they didn't mess up too badly on the rest, I'll take it.
  3. Well if GM has high fixed costs, cutting Pontiac won't make them go away will it? Nope, just less cars to spread those costs over.
  4. So then there will be more money to go around once Pontiac is killed? I think less.
  5. Here's some information on that: BB&T CEO's reasons for recession Also it was under the Clinton administration that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were expanded.
  6. More regulation is definately not the answer
  7. Because he likes world class RWD cars, unless they were sourced from Holden, because that somehow makes them second rate. Kind of like how Jaguar is seen compared to BMW/Mercedes buyers.
  8. Pontiac's sales have decreased less than any other brand including Chevy and Buick, even more so when comparing car sales only. Also, G8 sold 2700, up over 1000 compared to last month, even when other brands cars are falling compared to last months sales. Why is Pontiac the one to go again?
  9. There's one of the big problems I see coming. Our government is regulating the ability to take risks out of our economy. Not only that, but our economy is becoming so heavily regulated, that it further increases the cost to do business here, making it even cheaper to do overseas and just ship the end product back here.
  10. It's just the start of the end for GM. It will not save GM. It will reduce revenue, and therefore reduce money GM has to spend on other brands. It will increase the cost per vehicle, because GM has large fixed costs, and less vehicles sold means the same costs spread out over a lower number of vehicles. It will also turn loyal GM buyers into buyers of other brands. I'm not the first, and I wont be the last to leave GM over this decision.
  11. I didn't realize G35s were that cheap, but I'm sure $29,500 was not with a single option, while the only option available on the GTO was a 6 speed manual. It still would have made a better comparison than comparing the GTO to the Mustang though.
  12. Where was this review of the GTO a few years ago? Instead it got compared to Mustangs. The GTO is as much of a car, if not more, than the G35, for 2/3rd the price.
  13. No, the sad part is the economic mess was mostly created by government policies, and once they failed, they threw CEO's and banks in general under the bus. That caused the conditions to get worse, because the public no longer trusts our banking system, and started pulling out money, stopped borrowing, and stopped spending.
  14. Personally, I'd rather have the smaller V8 instead of a bigger V6, especially if the V8 has a higher redline.
  15. I'm thinking about getting a used SUV in the next couple of months. If I go the SUV route, I want something sportier, something still fun to drive, so I'm considering an SRX or X5. Possibly an Infiniti FX35/45.
  16. Why not a used SRX?
  17. GTO? G8? Pontiac had so much potential, and I feel it still does. But all that money went to the Saturn money pit, and now it is going to go to Buick. Before then, it went to Olds. Seems like Pontiac is the only one that was never given a fair chance, despite the higher sales than all the other brands.
  18. Sorry if I don't want to make light of Pontiac being reduced to nothing. I do own one that I am going to take a hit on the value for.
  19. Everything everyone is complaining about Pontiac for is everything all GM brands were over the 70s-90s and part of the 2000s. Amazing near luxury Buick Amazing Standard of the World Cadillac
  20. That's ok then. I'll be happy buying somewhere else. I'll never buy a Buick, and now that Pontiac is going away, I'll never buy a GM. I bought one Chevy, and only because I couldn't afford the Pontiac I wanted at the time. Goodbye GM.
  21. What if the government took over GM's pensions? That alone would cost more than it would to loan GM another $16.6B
  22. I just still can't believe Buick is a core brand. Everyone I have talked to about the situation is shocked that Buick is more important than Pontiac. This is also the primary reason GM is not finding it's way to my car shopping list. If GM were to say they were keeping Chevy GMC and Cadillac only, that's one thing. But to see Pontiac reduced to nothing, while Buick gets everything, is another.
  23. Still doesn't change the fact that more and more people are moving to warmer areas. Just look at the population growth of AZ, NV, and CA over the past 10 years. Im sure CA, TX, and FL alone make up enough population to make it worthwhile to sell RWD cars.
  24. I would buy the 535i just because I don't want a Ford.
  25. Exactly. Why should I suffer and not have any RWD cars available to me, when I live in AZ and will never see snow unless I drive up in the mountains? I'm guessing there are more people moving away from the snow to warmer areas anyway.
