  1. I don't know, I don't really see any upside in Buick. I don't see Buick catching on and taking the sales Pontiac loses. If Pontiac loses the G5, G6, Vibe, those sales will probably go to Chevy, not Buick. I think Pontiac could survive with GMC if given the right products, with or without Buick.
  2. Funny, I was looking for rental cars yesterday and all I could find was Chevys.
  3. At this point I hope Pontiac gets sold too. I even think Hyundai would manage the brand better than GM has. Actually, I'm hoping GMNA goes under, Holden buys Pontiac, ships their cars here and rebrands them as Pontiacs.
  4. I may have worded it poorly before. I fixed it so there will be less confusion.
  5. To anyone whose brand of choice is Pontiac, currently owns a Pontiac, or plans to buy a new Pontiac within 3 years, what would your brand of choice be if Pontiac were to be killed today by GM? My top brand after that would be BMW/Mini, then Nissan/Infiniti. I wouldn't buy another GM brand after that, and Ford/Chrysler don't interest me.
  6. Someone should start a poll of what current Pontiac owners, or even people who plan to own a Pontiac, would buy if Pontiac was killed like GM plans to do. I'm curious to see the results.
  7. But what investment has GM put into Pontiac lately? Saturn got everything, while Pontiac got nothing. Saturn was the brand that had a poor ROI. If that same money was invested in Pontiac, there would have been a much better ROI.
  8. So basically the same as always? Starve Pontiac, call the brand damaged, and when sales are down 1%, blame all of GM's woes on damaged brands like Pontiac, then kill Pontiac. Lose more revenue that could be used for R&D, less money to spend on the remaining brands, those cars fall further behind the competition, and GM finally goes under. Sorry I can't help save Pontiac buy buying some right now, but it doesn't seem smart to spend money in a down economy on expenses, when I could be purchasing assets at deeply discounted prices. I'm too busy buying houses and stocks right now. But when I cash in, if Pontiac is still around, I'll help then.
  9. They still wont sell, and will be gone shortly after Pontiac is. And why does everyone think being profitable means less sales? What will happen in bankruptcy court? The govt might take on GM's pensions, GM will be able to close a lot of plants and lay off workers, and bondholders will trade debt for some equity. While GM might become profitable from that, they won't become MORE profitable by losing half a million sales. All I know is that if GM did not have Pontiac's sales right now, they would be losing more money than they already are. Seems to me the issue is not number of brands, but all the non-car related stuff that GM can't ever get control of. Why do companies continually make new brands, if it is so unprofitable to do so? Because minimal investment brings in a whole lot more revenue. Think of the investment Pontiac has received lately, and compare that to the billions in revenue they receive from their sales.
  10. I would think Pontiac and GMC, have more of a chance making it on their own, than Buick and GMC would. But that's just me. Car(Pontiac) and truck(GMC)
  11. Well technically, all of GM could be placed in the bad asset group. I doubt any brand is making money right now.
  12. That just shows you how little I care about that car. I see SMART and I look the other way. But now that you mention it, I remember reading about that when they first started selling them here.
  13. That, and the SMART, remind me of those little toys I had as a kid, where you put a penny in the slot in the back, and wind it up, then when it goes forward it does a wheelie. I'm sure if someone converted a SMART to RWD and had someone stand on the rear bumper they could get it to do a wheelie too.
  14. Even a Prius seems to aggressive for him.
  15. I will do my part by moving 3 miles away from work. I won't do my part by driving a Yaris or Prius.
  16. I couldn't finish reading it. It sounds like it was written by a guy who has been neutered, and rides a segway to work everyday. Or he lives in his moms basement and he's mad because he had to drive a Yugo to high school.
  17. Just think if Pontiac were only the Solstice, G8, and maybe a coupe based of Zeta and/or the ST. How long would Pontiac's image take to turn around? My guess would be 3-5 years max. Perfect time to add Alpha to the mix. Once their image is where is should be, these cars will sell at full sticker price.
  18. Fixed. Seems more accurate now.
  19. Even though the G8 alone most likely sold more cars to retail customers than Buick sold cars to retail customers? Maybe that's what Pontiac represents to you, but to me it represents cars like the GTO like I own, and the G8 and Solstice. That it can sell in better volumes than every other GM brand besides GMC and Chevy shows it deserves a chance to succeed like every other brand has been given. Why are you even on a GM website if you don't like bland jellybean rental cars? I'm pretty sure that's what 95% of all GM cars have been for the past 20 years. So why would you single out Pontiac when Buick, Chevy, and Saturn have been mostly the same?
  20. Corsa and Astra should have been Pontiacs. They would be even better if they found a way to fit AWD in them. Imagine the turbo 4cyl from the Solstice in an AWD Astra or Corsa. Sadly, there are no small Pontiacs I would recommend right now.
  21. Hey we finally agree on something. I think volume only matters when those vehicles being sold are at a profitable price. I'm sure GM could sell a million Aveos if they sold each for $10, but that wouldn't make them profitable, so obviously volume isn't everything.
  22. I wonder if fleet sales have any correlation with having the oldest lineup of GM's brands. Either way, even with 70% of Pontiacs car sales going to fleets, it still would have outsold Buick cars even if they had 0 going to fleets. In fact, even if Buick had 30% of their cars going to fleets, the G8 would have outsold it by itself for retail sales. We get it, you hate Pontiac. Yet Buick is ok in your mind? You don't go on these tirades about Buick.
  23. Which is irrelevant because I'm sure the rest of GM has similar fleet percentages. The Aveo, Cobalt and Impala don't go to fleets? Pontiac was still down 30% while the rest of GM was down at least 40%, and even Toyota was down 39%.
  24. So if people buy inferior Pontiacs, imagine what Pontiac could do if GM actually put some money in the brand for once. Aura is newer than the G6 yet sells 1/5 of what it does. Even if the G6 fleet sales are 60% which I doubt, it would still be selling double the Auras total sales.
  25. As long as it comes over here as a Pontiac I'm all for it. Call it Torana, Tempest, G8, or G6, I don't really care. I'll take one with a turbo V6 if they can't fit a V8.
