I agree with you on fullsize pickup trucks and their ridiculous 2 or 4 year "refresh" now that are basically a new grille design or a change to the headlight tech and/or design. It's funny because it used to be 7-10 years before the domestics would change much of anything on their fullsize trucks until about the '14 or '15 MY, now the other guy has the "All New" truck and Corp. top brass saying "we can't have that" it's all a sales tactic obviously. I also agree that pretty soon these fullsize trucks are going to haul way more than they need to or more than the driver is even licensed for (CDL) and the turbo diesel power output is now 450-500hp and 850-1000 ft. lbs of torque and a max GVWR of 35K+ lbs. and again anything over 26,001 lbs. you need a CDL, so yep 18 wheeler territory in that respect ? Now with the Corvette you were a little off. From the C4 production that ran from 1984 - 1996 to the C5 that ran from 1997 - 2004 they were totally different platforms. The C5 with much improved stability and performance was a totally new car from the ground up, with maybe a couple of suspension components that were similar to the C4. It had a totally new "hydroformed" ladder style space frame and the transmission went from being bolted directly to the engine to the back axle in a very stout transaxle form, all connected with a "torque tube" which in the C5's case is a very strong forged aluminum tunnel that carries the driveshaft and attaches the front of the powertrain to the back. It was really nice to see the bell housing bulge in the driver and passenger footwell from the C4 go away with this new design. This all new design with the transmission in the back also gave the C5 Corvette a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. When the C5 came out the body had the lowest Cd (Coefficient of drag) at .29 Cd that was lower than Ferrari at the time. Speaking of powertrain this was also the first year of the all new GM LS motor with the LS1. With this new C5 chassis design being so good and so far ahead of it's time in the late 90's it lasted surprisingly long, longer than even GM engineers thought, I was told this by one at the C8 reveal I went to. With basically all new bodies for the 2005 C6 and 2014 C7 and some suspension updates and upgrades like MagnaRide until the 2020 C8 it was a pretty rare circumstance. Can you think of another modern car chassis that has lasted the test of time so well like the C5 - C7 Corvette have at 23 MY's? It shows how well thought out the design was compared to previous generations to last well into the future. "Toyoter" LMAO!

Lol well I'm 43 and pretty fit but ok...? And no the cup holders haven't always been great especially in the C5, but I don't eat or drink in my Vette other than water in a bottle at times. Gettin' old ya old Canuck! -

Pretty sure they will. Barrett J always has a Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford area. Ford had the new GT there in 2017. -

Wait until you see it in person. The front isn't bulky, it's very streamlined and low slung. I'm sure GM will have it in Montreal for the auto show. Speaking of the front, they have the GPS enabled front lift system so you don't scrape the expensive front splitter pulling into driveways or high speed bumps and with the GPS system you save your house or other regularly used driveways or parking lots as a POI and it will automatically lift when approaching. -

Wait until you see it in person. The body lines flow very well front to back. I kind of wished they would have brought back nostalgic round quad taillights, but once I saw it in person without them it looks pretty sweet because they fit really well with the rest of the car. -

Have you seen a C8 in person? Can't remember reading that you have. I have and they are better in person, as with most vehicles. The base C8 Stingray is designed and offered to be affordable to more hard working Americans, but the Z cars will be as refined or more than the Italians and Brits, don't get me wrong I love the Prancing Horse 458 Italia or 488 GTB and F12 Berlinetta or 812 Superfast with the awesome Ferrari V12's, but the C8 has a place in my red blooded American heart. Exhaust pipes to the corners on the C8 are freer flowing than mandrel bending them hard to the center with the engine being mid mounted and would have taken away from the rear storage that's still pretty impressive. I asked the GM engineers several questions that were present for the C8 reveal event we had here in Arizona. The Elkhart Lake Blue one we had here was headed to the NCM in Bowling Green not to be crushed like other pre-production cars, so that was pretty neat info. too. -

Purist's will always be upset with change. The aftermarket guys are already blowing minds with C8 add on's. It will be great to see the C8 and Z06 next year as well as "Zora" in the near future rip the hater trolls to shreds and take euro exotics down at a fraction of their cost. Heck the BASE C8 Stingray is already on par with many foreign mid engine exotics. I can't wait to see what the AWD Hypercar C8 Zora 5.5L TT 850hp flat plane crank V8 mid ship and 200hp dual traction motors in front. Bring it Europe! ??? https://www.topspeed.com/cars/chevrolet/2020-chevrolet-c8-corvette-zr1-ar165292.html -

We can thank Mr. Jim Perkins, who is now no longer with us, for saving the Corvette from the bean counters at GM in the late 90's. Neat write up at C&D. https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a21052428/how-the-chevrolet-corvette-was-saved-from-extinction-twice-feature/ -

Several heads at UAW upper mgmt. that need to roll, too corrupt anymore. C8 is gorgeous inside and out seen in person and sat in one of three that GM had touring the country and it was very impressive. Porsche and Ferrari guys showed up and were mighty impressed. There will be loyal Corvette owners that will be very happy with the C8 like myself and the Italian and Brit exotic guys will jump in too so it should do very well for the next 5 or 6 decades. I do think GM should still offer a C7 style front engine variant as a base or less expensive model though. Good point! Get the data for us chief! ??? -

Subaru News: Subaru and Toyota Teaming Up for Next WRX
USA-1 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Subaru
I remember when GM owned 20% of Subaru and sold about 10% to Toyota back in 2005 because they were losing more than gaining from it. What's Toyota bringing to the mix the new BMW Z4 platform they use for the Supra? ? They obviously want the "AWD Oracle" Subaru to build a platform for them to use. -

LONG overdue. Definitely see some major Cadillac Escala design cues in front end and hood and the new CT cars design cues with front end and hood, as well as some Jaguar F Type in front and down the side. Are we sure Johan D. didn't really go back to Infiniti? ? -

Who said I'm trying to convince everyone that I'm not a GM fanboy? I do prefer GM vehicles and I explained it to you in another post, but you had no reply because it was logical that which you have zero of with most of your definite "triggered" posts yesterday and today or it just went in one ear and out the other like usual. Exactly right because Ford was in trouble in 2006 and put up the farm for approx. $25B in credit loans when you could still get credit way before the crash in 2008 or they would have been there with their hands out too and they know it. GM has always had several eggs in the EV basket though so it's not new. There were a lot of Volt loyal buyers when they came out in 2011 and it was a good car, but not the full BEV that the Model S brought everyone in 2012. Tesla's biggest problem is delivery vehicles or delivering when promised. GM has the employees and plant capacity that Tesla doesn't and that's the truth. GM is pretty good about delivering when they say (minus the C8 had to perfect that girl and they did) so BEV's will roll out easily for Chevrolet and eventually the whole Cadillac line which I'm not ready for, can't wait for the Blackwing V8 to start showing up at dealers ??? Silverado will be fine and will easily regain sales well into the 2nd spot when the full range of Silvy submodels and all trims are available for 2020. Big ones were you weren't able to get the 6.2L in the Trail Boss which is now available for 2020 and having either low trims or fully loaded trims available in the 2019 MY so many held off on purchasing while they ramped up production. The only old K2 they were building was the Double Cab which doesn't sell as well as the Crew Cab where Ram offered both with new and old Ram's. I hear it's because GM didn't want to cannibalize sales of the new Silvy. They're doing something right making good money, so on to 2020 we go! -

GM and Chevrolet are fine, great balance sheet of cash on hand and record profit and regular all new or updated trucks, SUV's and Caddy's out for next several months and years. All over for FCA once the new Ram buyers figure out that all they bought was an unreliable Chrysler wearing lipstick. New GM truck interiors coming 2021 because GM does listen to their customers. Only trim that needed some additional high end trim are the high end models High Country and Denali, lower models are fine. Worry more about FCA needing a merger to stay afloat and Ford for that matter with majorly botched new launches of important SUV's like Explorer/Aviator. -

LMAO! Other way around genius. Loyalty is the customer base like with all long time manufacturers. It makes sense that you wouldn't understand. -

I know you are pretty F'ing confused. Yet you've called me a GM fanboy, but I've stated that I like the look of or build quality of other makes and models and have owned other makes and models so you might want to figure it out yourself Nelly. ? Only thing the Asian brands have taken over are cheap throw away cars. GM knows there's no money in them so letting most of the cars die is a good idea. Silverado/Sierra, Tahoe/Yukon, Corvette, Camaro, Malibu and full Cadillac lineup, yeah no problems for the future. Plenty of loyal buyers, always will be.
