  1. They should take a page from the Road to Greatness" and award Camry owners with a trip to Flint.
  2. In all fairness to GM both the Atlas and Ecotec families of L4 engines are OHC, leaving what? Also part of the reason GM is late to the 5 speed automatic transmission is that they are early to the 6 speed automatic. Likewise Chrysler seems to be having great success with the "hemi" and Ford has lost its overwhelming predominace in the Class 3 and above truck market in PART due to their reliance on OHC engines rather than OHV engines (the other part being the failure of the Navistar engine.)
  3. For the sake of simplicity assume a chicken evolved from a turkey. The turkey laid an agg that underwent a mutation of the DNA sequence. The turkey sat on and hatched the "first" chicken egg, neither knowing or possibly caring that it would produce a chicken rather than a turkey. Hence the chicken egg came first. It's all about mutation of the sex gamates.
  4. click here Just a few quick comments from Saturn dealership employees and owners on the automatic transmission arguement.
  5. The colorado's 4 cylinder is up to 2.9 liters and makes the Mustang v8 only 58% larger.
  6. It wasn't that long ago that the Cobalt's cousins (ION) switched from an Aisin 5 speed automatic transmission to the GM 4 speed unit. No owner, serice tech, ets. doubts the superior performance of the GM unit. Some people on this site go overboard on the Japanese hatred thing. You somehow make them look well mannered and knowlegable in comparison.
  7. Super nice!!
  8. Buickman calling someone else prejudiced is so like the kettle calling the pot black. I do, however, have to give BM credit for posting an article that blames Zarilla by name rather than Wagoner. Priceless.
  9. So to whom and how much oil do we export?
  10. It is definetly the eggs that came first. I have never understood why people have trouble with that one.
  11. Mr. Goshen will probably express his endless admiratrion of Wagoner, the president of Honda did.
  12. link for forbes article The other link didn't work for me. Is this the same article you linked to?
  13. Sorry. I should have been more specific and more accurate. Chrysler corporation has introduced new SUV nameplates/models. There is the Chrylser version of the Durango and the Jeep Commander for instances. GM in the mean time is dropping SUV nameplates left and right. Envoy XL, Buick Ranier, a handful of Isuzu no starters :), maybe even the short wheelbase Chevy TB and GMC envoy, H1 Hummer, and the blazer twins come to mind. GM's entries were segment leading and they had no other choice in my opinion. Chrysler and Ford have acted much less quickly to the situation than GM.
  14. I never considered that, although around here a GM dealer is a lot nicer place to hang out than many other brands (nissan) included.
  15. LTB: I just heard a discussion of alternative fuels from the Peterson Automotive Museum. Europe has passed laws and all manufacturers have complied with particulate filters and also some urea injection. Tailpipe emissions are way down. Also the figures you posted were no doubt accomplished with dirty diesel which has been replaced this month with low sulfur diesel making all possible. If electric hybrids (non plug in) were so good, the figures for power production by regenerative braking would be made plublic.
  16. Lets not forget that this is the same on line publication that droned on and on why the Humvee shouldn't be armoured even though it was in the balkans ten years ago and even now is starting to be prepared for excellent protection. Just a sample of the Car Connection's lack luster performance. Most respindents here fear Goshen more than respect him. Time and agin Wagoner has proved himself more able than the leadership at Ford. Chrysler just came out with all sorts of new SUVs in a diminshing market. I am not sure that Wagoner hasn't done an excellent job. Since I don't drink with spiteful, aluminum foil hat wearing conspiracy trollls, what do I know?
  17. click here A bit of warning: The car Connection sometimes goes a little silly when they leave the nuts and bolts of autos.
  18. Renault owns both Volvo and Mack truck. Volvo is big in class 8 (over the road) as well as trash trucks!! Mack is big in Class 8 as well as numerous vocational applications (construction site stuff - dirt haulers -etc.) Mercedes owns Freightliner, Sterling, Thomas Bus and Western Star. The former sells over the road as well as many class 7 and 6 applications, etc. Western Star is mostly over-the -road owner operated trucks. Freighliner also owns Detroit diesel. This was formerly GM's truck diesel. GM sold out to Pensky (the same guy that is going to distribute the Smart car) who turned the operation around ito a money maker and then sold Detroit Diesel to Freightliner. Peterbuilt and Kenworth are co-owned and are American last time I heard. The French government owns 15% (not 20) of Renault. Not that that makes much difference. Peugeot/Citreon owns Michellin tire company.
  19. Please consider the authoritative Motley Fool. www.fool.com They have an investing stratergy that they sometimes discuss called the "dogs of the Dow", IIRC. Historically investing in the 5 lowest perfroming stocks of the Dow Jones index has returned handsome income.
  20. If you make 10K a month in the auto industry why are you running out and getting a real estate license and selling cheap 100K houses? Perhaps you are reality deprived!!
  21. Nice guys? You have many times said that Wagoneer is purposely running GM into the ground for the benefit of the Rothchields. If "LaNerve, Dewar, Pepper and any of that bunch" know this and don't act how are they nice guys? Perhaps they don't know of this secret cabal between Wagoneer and the Jews but you do!!!!
  22. Hey, that's a Saturn trademark of production!
  23. Perhaps GM should cozy up to Peugeot-Citreon. Peugeot has been looking at a United States return, it would provide GM with Michelin tires to replace the Firestones, and it would include this swell mini van/crossover. Happy Birthday United States! http://securingamerica.com/ccn/
  24. One word of negativity here. When the acquisition/joint venture craze was popular in the 70's-90's (?), three companies that I can think of staid mostly independant. They were Toyota, Honda, and BMW. These also appear to be the healthiest auto manufacturers. Perhaps it isn't coincidene. Comments? note: of course BMW bought Rover and it was a dissaster. BMW, however, was large enough and rover small enough that they were eventually able to salvage a little (mini), sell some to Ford (Land Rover), and give the majority away. Also Toyota does have its subsidaries and purchased brands (Hino and daihtsu) but again it wa a giant buying a flee.
  25. Do yu have any inside information on the Suzuki court case against Conumer Reports. I love that story. My suzuki bike was flawless and my friends 110,00 Chevy metro three cylinder suzuki with still tight as a drum when I drove it. Pretty impressive cars. My #1 Son in law drives many vehicles for work. The Suzuki aerio was his choice as most underated and the 350Z as most overated.
