  1. If it is going to be even more expensive, then why didn't Buick get a RWD sedan earlier via the Sigma platform? How much cheaper is the Zeta to build than the Sigma? The CTS is advertised locally at $27k. How do these two platforms compare in price and techical detail?
  2. While I understand your liking of the magnum, Chrysler is having a hard time with large numbers of unsold cars and the magnum leads the list. Perhaps this doesn't apply as much to the hemi. Anyone know for sure?
  3. So who is number one, not that I doubt for a moment that number two tries harder. On a realted topic, I see televison adds here and at the end say Southern California is Chevies biggest market. Did I understand this correctly?
  4. Has there been an annoucement regarding Spring Hil, Tenn yet?

My wife and I gave the baby a nice downpayment on a new ION. It has been flawless and after years of not getting the hang of driving, this car has changed her life.
  6. Thanks evok! I guess old and ill tempered it is.
  7. original here<<My '95 SW1 just hit the 400,000 mile mark. Original are all front end and suspension parts with the exception of the right front axle bearing, clutch, rear brakes and drums, air conditioning components, EGR valve, timing chain, starter, and alternator. With the exception of the famous rust problem in the right rear door sill, and some parts of the engine cradle that are starting to look a little tired, body and paint are primo. This car represents everything Saturn has espoused - relability, ease of maintenance, and enjoyable driving. It's gotten me through some horrific weather situations, and like and old friend has been always been there for me. The great people on this forum have been particularly fortunate in having Charlie maintain the high standards we associate with Saturn, and in having the likes of Wolfman, Sattech, Sscarman, and others, share tremendous depths of product knowledge. As an ex wrench, I can tell you they know their stuff - and then some. Again, here's hoping everyone on this forum enjoys his or her Saturn, or whatever your ride may be, half as much as I've loved mine. Life's too short not to.>>
  8. Evok, Hudson, OC; I understand what you are saying and do see some point in Flints article, but the following annoys me to no end: Could you explain the order of results to me. This is presented as a table and as such the order has importance. I have over 40 publications in the literature and this is not allowed. What order of presentation is he using? Reverse alphabetical order, decreasing sales volume, his personal likes? Perhaps I am just getting old and ill-tempered.
  9. click here Take a look at the sales chart that Flint presents! What is that reverse alphabetical order with mistakes?

Nelson Mandela is the former president of South Africa who shocked the world with his kindness and forgiveness to the privious administration that imprisoned him for 26 years. The reference to him was my silly way of claiming that the CEO of American Axle standing up for Wagoneer is as good a recomendation as good be expected. Sorry about the vagueness.

You were waiting for Nelson Mandela maybe?
  12. click here Seems unfair or perhaps asinine. Roadsters through the years have featured economy car engines. Not to many people/reviewers belittle the ecotec, nor is the power limited to high RPM?
  13. Good read and I approve of the feisty attidude GM is displaying. However, In MY 1963 Studebaker was feazturing the Hawk and the Avanti with supercharging. AMC had a whole new lineup of cleverly named models (220-440,550-770,880-990) many with a truly excellent new cylinder engine and clever transmission options. International Harvester was strong with the Scout and Travall, not to mention the pickups. Jeep was there too. Are Isuzu, mitsubushi, Jaguar and Land Rover really that much more a part of the automotive business?
  14. article includes engines and transmissions including DSB twin clutch sequential.

scroll down to article on France Dauch later clarified his comments saying he felt that the way the alliance was proposed was inappropriate adding that the Renault/Nissan alliance has clearly benefited both parties. That said, he's clearly in GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner's corner. "I think we need to give GM a chance to restructure," he said. "I think Rick Wagoner is one of the smartest men in this business."
  16. The Ranger and the Colorado seem to be in a class of their own. Someone posted that the ranger is cheaper. They seem to raised the price around here. Maybe to make up for decreased sales? The four cylinder (2.9 L.) seems to be in a class by ityeself. The price of gas is over $3 a gallon and rising quickly. I want a 4 cylinder Canyon when I replace my 115 hp Sonoma. I think it will sufice nicely.
  17. http://www.marlin-car.us/twin.html this one has picture and detail
  18. ] <<Also, a sporty new floor-shift overdrive transmission, featuring a center console with "Twin-Stick" shifting (one lever for the 3-speed and one for the overdrive), was introduced this year. >> It was also used on the American too I believe. click here for article
  19. click here Interesting cvomments on Mitsubushi and also other captive imports. Flint (the son) also mentions the twin stick transmission but fails to mention American Motors use of a similar idea.
  20. Here in the los Angeles area they have raised the price of the Corolla!
  21. Corolla prices as listed in the newspaper are up a lot!
  22. At first I rejected Evok's thesis that older people are more easily satisfied causing these results. I have been thinking about this for a couple of days between war reports. I have followed owner comments at saturnfans.com fopr years now. At least once a month some one lists some problems with his bottom feeder car (amazingly sometimes used cars!). These people go absolutely bizerk. I fear for the saftey of the service writer. These are not the older coustomers. We older coustomers are more likely to say that the dealer did software changes to the transmission, now the car is better, and by the way the resroom was CLEAN. Three chairs for clean restrooms at Pontiac and Saturn dealers.
  23. G-d dam conservatives. ( I know this is inappropiate, but heck I hear the opposite here all the time)
  24. No doubt that your right, but still how does Toyota do so well with the $1500 surcharge in it's California "borrowed" plant?
  25. ranch n. An extensive farm, especially in the western United States, on which large herds of cattle, sheep, or horses are raised. a place where bovine feces abound. :AH-HA_wink:
