  1. I think the glut storm is already here. China will make it worse not better.
  2. Q: What can Peugeot bring to a saturated US car market that has already reached peak sales in the last two years?
  3. Save the suicide doors for other Lincoln models. They may have a chance at survival.
  4. That is the problem with brands: it was a British choice to go Mini rather than Cooper. Makes no sense here but perfect sense in Europe. Then again, the USA is the home of BOF pickups and SUVs and the last vestiges of large sedans (soon to be replaced by large crossovers). Unless you live in NYC or SF or any compact large city, the Mini makes zero sense almost anywhere else. No wonder BMW is not investing in Mini like it used to: low gas prices will do that.
  5. Nice idea but too expensive to actually produce.
  6. Only issue I have is the tailights. I do not like them. LOVE the Cocoa seats and really like just about everything else. I wonder how soon the new CT6 interiors will spread to a new XT7 and MCE XT5. The CT6 new cruise control is a really sweet feature.
  7. It makes you wonder if the real plan was that the One Ford Plan ultimately kills Lincoln since there is no true brand creator and advocate for the nearly 100 year-old marque. Dearborn apparently has no vision for this marque, so the best thing to do I guess is to bury it like they Mercury a few years back. The moral of this story is: GO BIG (Cadillac) or go home. Stand for something or fall for anything (and eventually just fall).
  8. OK. I may not be for this idea, but I will say that MB is the best brand to try this out. Badge snobs will LOVE THIS once it is implemented in the USA. If MB leads on this, then Audi/BMW/Lexus will be sure to follow.
  9. Maybe Ford does not know what to do with Lincoln so they are giving up on the Continental now and perhaps may give up on Lincoln entirely in the future. As for the K900, it reminds me of an MB S-class a little too much. It needs to have a real unique selling point; otherwise it will perish like the Continental just did.
  10. 1) What Nissan is that? 2) Why would ANY potential Z buyer choose this hybrid over another Z? 3) That is not a Nissan Leaf. What is the case for this car over a Leaf?
  11. I honestly wonder why did they make a W12 rather than a V12. A V12 is the smoothest engine ever made and yet VW went for the W12, as if they wanted to join two VR6 engines together and see how it worked out. As for the death of the ICE, unless there are enough rare earth metals to make batteries large enough to replace ALL THE CARS on planet Earth, I think that the ICE has a few decades left. The V12/V10/W12 will probably disappear by the end of this decade. There should still be a few V8 and V6 engines until 2040 at least, and probably a 4-cylinder and 3-cylinder well past midcentury. As for 2100, by then the ICE will be as important to them as the horse buggy is for us.
  12. I think Ford is having some issues selling the MKZ as well as the Continental. Too bad neither car distinguishes themselves from the competition in any significant way. Why would anyone switch to a Lincoln from a German car or a Cadillac?
  13. No offense taken. I just simply surmised that when GM decided to spare Buick and kill Olds in 2004, China was the main reason for that decision back then. Nothing more.
  14. No thank you. Especially to the whole mobility as a service idea, regardless of whether GM or anyone else is pushing this rather awful idea that only a Millennial could love.
  15. I guess this is not a surprise. If Buick in China does not spell out BUICK on the cars and crossovers, I guess that would be brought here too. Without China, Buick would be as dead as Oldsmobile (RIP). I would like to pick up an Envision sometime in the next year or so. That CUV may keep me from buying an XT5 in a couple of years.
  16. Poor sales because of few deals on leases. Given the mad march towards CUVs over sedans, you would think that Honda would make the Accord cheap to lease. Also, the competition is no longer the sad slouches they were 15-20 years ago. The Chrysler 200 is finally dead. The Malibu does NOT SUCK and neither does the Fusion. Hyundai/KIA are adding pressure. And there has always been the Toyota Camry since 1983. Somewhere along the line, Honda forgot to compete against increasingly tougher competition. They had better figure this out sooner than later. Otherwise, there will be even more Accords staying in Marysville OH and not at the local dealership.
  17. Then you should look at a Buick Envision, since that CUV is a better value at the price you listed.
  18. #1 reason to move the auto show to October: brutal Detroit winters. What are they waiting for?
  19. Wow. At those prices for a (loaded) Terrain, why not buy a Buick Envision instead? Nicer CUV and possibly a better value.
  20. Tainted? What is this, 1980? 1990? Lack of discounts might work as a theory perhaps, but GM needs profits and cash flow NOT "move the metal" which led to BK a decade ago. The love for the German automakers is still quite irrational, even after 40 years of all their hype.
  21. Makes me almost consider the new Envision over the Cadillac XT5. . . . . . . . almost. Are they upgrading the interior on the new Envision, or is it just the powertrain?
  22. I was referring to both the new CUE and the physical buttons since so many people have complained about how to use CUE with just virtual buttons. The physical dash may or may not be updated at all in the XT5.
  23. They might have to bring that dash into the XT5; only problem is that change might come with an MCE in 2020 or so.
  24. I Hope that the diesel engine passes emissions standards without cheating.
