  1. Has anyone seen the new Built Ford Proud ads? The sales numbers for Ford and Lincoln apparently explain why these commercials exist: falling sales.
  2. Why would KIA sales rise? They are bringing an also-ran product into a congested market. Also, they might cannibalize sales of their own Soul.
  3. Two years for Faraday Future. I will take the Under on that.
  4. Your alarm is unwarranted, especially given that Tesla is making profits now. Forget Faraday, they are done. GM simply does not want to caught off guard like they were with Toyota in the 70s and Lexus starting in 1990.
  5. Toyota might, but it will probably be a lot harder now. . . . unless they put the focus on the Tacoma rather than the Tundra.
  6. I cannot blame your brother getting the Honda. Toyota has been overhyped since the 1970s.
  7. The problem is is that car buyers have had little loyalty to the domestics since the 1980s. CA most of all have bought into buying Japanese for nearly 40 years now; the rest of the USA followed suit about 10-15 years later depending on location. It is even worse with luxury vehicles.
  8. It is possible. Although you can say that truck loyalty will tend to maintain the status quo.
  9. Just wait for the next recession to possibly knock RAM into fourth place. There is a reason that Ford is #1 and GM is #2.
  10. That sounds like an Escalade that would retail for at least $125K. Cadillac should just do it.
  11. Just an Enclave-sized XT6 is all Cadillac needs for their crossover lineup to be complete. No need to be all things to all people like Chevy (or MB) are supposed to be.
  12. Tesla turns a profit. Congratulations. Now do that every Quarter for the next three years, like GM and Ford are supposed to do.
  13. The XT4 is a young professional women's CUV. OK, explain the Buick Encore then.
  14. We could use some hybrid and/or EV Chevy crossovers long before a hybrid Camaro. A hybrid Mustang would be a mistake for Ford; they should reserve that for the next Explorer and/or Expedition. I doubt anyone looking for high MPG would consider a Camaro for a simple reason: a hybrid is simply too practical for what is supposed to be a fun and exciting car.
  15. Nothing against India. It is just that Smart cars are simply the only new cars they can afford right now.
  16. Buying a Cadillac is definitely UNfollowing the crowd. Two crowds really: German and Lexus.
  17. What's the rule: if a contractor sets a date, add six months. For this technology, add two or three years.
  18. Nobody in the USA would be stupid enough to buy a new Smart car when we have so many good used cars available. Daimler should cease selling these Smart cars in NA right now and ship them to India where they belong.
  19. I had no idea that CR is this biased towards Toyota. Lexus I can believe though. You would think that Honda/Acura would be a lot higher than where they are given the source. As for the domestics, CR has hated them for at least 40 years or so, with relatively few exceptions. Sometimes I wonder if they would have preferred that Detroit drown with all of the bad banks ten years ago.
  20. Any bets on when Faraday Future files for Chapter 11?
  21. Actually, a V6 is most appropriate in the Atlas. No reason the Atlas should be stuck with a 2L turbo four that cannot get out of its own way.
  22. Q1: How many XT4s will sell this model year? Q2: Will it outsell the XT5 this model year? btw: how well is the GLC selling compared to the GLE as of now?
  23. Only 2Q: how many will sell and will it outsell the XT5 (this year)?
  24. Is self-driving really worth it? I am not so sure about that.
  25. Only they have moved to $90K+ crossovers rather than fast sports sedans (and sports cars).
