Mitsubishi News: What Mitsubishi Dealers Want
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Mitsubishi
Americans do not want a small truck. Other people worldwide might, but a small truck will not sell here to make it profitable.- 24 replies

Mitsubishi News: What Mitsubishi Dealers Want
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Mitsubishi
Oh really? Now why would anyone BUY a unibody pickup truck from Nissan or Mitsubishi or Renault? Have they not learned from the failure that is the Honda Ridgeline?- 24 replies

Computer and hardware purchase question - help
riviera74 replied to trinacriabob's topic in Electronics and Technology
The iPhone led the industry in NOT having removable phones. Many Android models have since followed suit, especially in the last five years. Holding down the power button until it allows you to switch it off or turns off by itself is the best way to deal with a stuck phone these days. -
It is certainly possible that Cadillac may become a lot more China-centric because that is already what has happened to Buick. Almost all Buick product these days (Enclave aside) currently selling have its roots in the China marketplace. It does make a lot of sense when a carmaker appeases its largest market just to get higher sales.

Ford Invests $500M in Rivian to Gain Platform Access
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Rivian
So Ford is investing in Rivian. Good. Maybe Ford can finally tame the silliness that is the F-Series Super Duty with that HUGE Diesel engine and replace it with a superior platform. I am sick and tired of some truck owners insisting on all this "rolling coal" crap on any of our roads.-

If you had an EV the size of an Equinox or Traverse, sales would be much better. That eventually will come.
-
The only reason EVs are poor selling is because they can be better but they are obviously not cheap enough for anyone to take a risk on a true BEV yet. When a Crossover BEV is less than a base model Civic/Corolla, then the sales will come. People will not change unless there is a giant incentive for them to do so. Right now a true BEV is simply too expensive for most people to experiment. Charging stations are already here or are forthcoming but the price must be low enough to effectively replace large chunks of the used car market in order for BEVs to completely win the marketplace.
-
But the 4.3 may well be the better TRUCK engine. The 2.7T is for those who want better fuel economy. Same with Ford's EcoBoost engines in all of its cars and trucks. Also, GM can get more $$$$ for those who want better fuel economy, just like Ford does. One Question: why does GM insist on getting the smallest wheels they can get away with rather than put on some size-appropriate wheels on this truck?
-
One day, once Lithium Ion batteries are replaced with much better ones, the question will be, "Who wants a ICE car when a BEV is so much better and more convenient?"

Every time I go to my local Cadillac dealer's website, I see VINs on all the cars and trucks and crossovers they sell. See for yourself: www.valwardautos.com

German study finds EVs are dirtier than diesel vehicles
riviera74 replied to ykX's topic in Industry News
The real issue here is that Coal cannot compete, so this IFO study is really Big Coal's way of saying, "Turn back the clock to 1980". Batteries are fairly efficient now; just wait unit Lithium-Ion is replaced by a much better battery type. What will Big Coal say when it is far cheaper to power everything electrically via renewables? Eventually (I hope sooner than later) all of transport will no longer need oil or natural gas. Coal is already too expensive for power generation as it is because of natural gas and renewable energy sources. -
Is it just me, or is that Hyundai look like an overgrown Mini Cooper Clubman?

Good. I am glad that the Traverse is ditching the 2.0T; it belongs in an Equinox thank you!

This is Mary Barra's GM. I doubt the CT5 will start much lower than $39,995. The CT5 competes with the E Class and the 5 Series, so pricing will matter but Cadillac does not quite have the brand equity of the E and the 5 to price above those two. Now a Lexus GS should be the main price target of the CT5.
-
In my Lucerne, not much change. Then again, in FL, A/C is almost mandatory.
-
CAFE is also based on sales volume, so I am not surprised that Cadillac might detune the engine for fuel economy. This is NOT a Corvette with so few sales that it would affect CAFE number.
-
There is only one question that matters: will the CT5 outsell the E-series and the 5 series? In 2020-2025? Cadillac has a chance, especially with this car, but I want to see sales numbers before declaring defeat at the hands of the Germans.

Is there any website that can give recommendations based on feature set of new and used vehicles?

A Hard Cheap Tupperware plastic interior is part of how KIA sells so many of its cars (Stinger and K900 aside). Of course, if Ford had its way, no one ever buy a three-box sedan for the next decade or three. Since the Escape is (relatively) cheap, Tupperware plastic interior comes with the package. A Lincoln Navigator it is NOT.

A lot of people are going to have to NOT remember the 70s for GM to come close to former glories. Perhaps the 80s too.

Until Toyota sales begin to fall precipitously, the Toyota faithful will get more like this new Highlander. Too bad there are few if any compelling competitive products that will pull loyal Toyota buyers away.
