And then after three or four years, Volvo will be forced to cut at least five of those models because of low or nonexistent sales.

Chevrolet News:Officially Official: Corvette Starts at $59,995
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
They can start with the crossovers that are so popular these days, especially at Cadillac. -
Sounds like Volvo wants to directly compete against the Buick Encore, which should be outselling the Q2 and the X1 (I hope).

Chevrolet News:Officially Official: Corvette Starts at $59,995

A new C8 Corvette starting at $60K should make Porsche nervous at this point, or do they (and other mid-engine sports car makers) not seem to care? -
Chevrolet News:Officially Official: Corvette Starts at $59,995

One question: how does Chevy/GM prevent dealers from surcharging the new C8 Corvette? -
Honda News: Honda Pulling Production Out of Argentina
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Honda
Smart move by Honda. Ideally they would move all car/CUV production to the United States and drop most other plants. -
VW News: Forbidden Fruit: Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Volkswagen
Convertibles have had a hard time selling in the USA for the better part of a decade. One more will not move the sales needle anytime soon.- 42 replies

Are you sure about that? About half of all firearms are owned by about 4% of all Americans. Most gun owners only have at most two or three firearms, often just one.

OK. Why does the Wrangler have a solid front axle again?

A 10-speed is a nice addition. It should come standard on every Honda and Acura though.

Jaguar News: Jaguar Land Rover Could Share BMW Platform
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Jaguar
This platform sharing is a far superior idea to what BMW is trying to do with MINI. Ideally, BMW would simply buy JLR from its current owners and go on from there. -
Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-AMG One Delayed
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Mercedes-Benz
I suspect that the engine involved will fail because F1 is not designed to actually meet emissions standards at all. Back to the drawing board. -
CAFE itself is not pointless. I do not like CAFE because it forces automakers to put in weaker engines when a stronger engine is called for, especially given the rash of 4cyl engines in cars that merit a V6. Gas taxes are a more efficient way to reduce consumption period.

Just about all of them say the same thing: I am too broke or too cheap to repair this issue correctly. Please junk this vehicle to put it out of its misery.

Nissan News: Nissan Titan XD Loses Diesel and Single Cab
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Nissan
Infotainment systems barely existed prior to 2009, so 2012 makes a lot more sense. Besides, Nissan/Infiniti needs to borrow Audi's MMI (that is about to be replaced) in order to be competitive again. -
Nissan News: Nissan Titan XD Loses Diesel and Single Cab
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Nissan
For luxury trucks, Infiniti barely cuts the mustard. Their infotainment system belongs in 2012, not 2020. Moreover, truck buyers are far more brand loyal than car buyers ever were. This is why Nissan fails and why FORD is#1 in pickup trucks. -
All they need is the 3 5 and 7. All other sedans are superfluous.

Honda News: Honda Slowing Production, Cutting Shifts
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Honda
Can't blame them. Their biggest seller is the CR-V rather than the Accord, followed by all those crossovers that it seems almost everyone wants these days. -
Good idea to ditch those vehicles that cannot pull their own weight on the sales charts. BMW may have to cull more from their herd of cars and SAVs.

BMW cannot build an ICE engine? uh, since when? I would argue that brake wear is a much more pressing issue on a typical BMW since engines are the most tested and scrutinized part of any vehicle. As for Mini, I have my doubts that an electric Mini Cooper will actually make the car MORE desirable than it already is here in the States. Europe maybe, but not here.

Nissan News: Nissan Titan XD Loses Diesel and Single Cab
riviera74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Nissan
Nissan should but I doubt they will do just that. As for the Silverado/Sierra twins, they could stand a mid-cycle upgrade of their interiors. As for the face, I partially agree with the Silverado, the Sierra less so. However, truck buyers disagree so both issues need to be addressed sooner rather than later. -
Fair points. That just means that better (read: faster charging), more compact batteries will have to meet the packaging requirements of a tractor-trailer. We are not quite there yet.

Nissan News: Nissan Titan XD Loses Diesel and Single Cab

Again, why does Nissan build trucks nobody is willing to buy? Especially when the Silverado/Sierra twins beckon . . . . .
