  1. uh yeah. 1978-84 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale. I would recognize those anywhere.
  2. Money CANNOT buy Class. This is the textbook antonym of class.
  3. Yes the C9 should have this powertrain, along with the current mid-engine version. See what sells and what does not. As for Hummer by GMC, GM should have done this the first time 20 years ago. A Hummer EV is a bonus to making it a GMC sub-brand like Denali. I wonder how the Eco-warriors will respond to this.
  4. I miss those first-generation Auroras. The second-generation was far more forgettable.
  5. Why is BOF worse for BEVs than unibody?
  6. Virginia can wait about a couple of more years on school buses if only for prices to fall significantly. In 2023 those buses could become a lot more price-competitive with a new diesel bus. Now if diesel bus makers were smart, they would already build diesel-electric buses to head off full-fledged EV buses and undercut those on price. But that would be too smart on the incumbents to actually compete on lowering emissions.
  7. Please read this article concerning EV ownership: https://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2020/01/evs-less-expensive-than-you-think-says-aaa/
  8. In those days, starting MSRP for that car was $97,295. The SL65 AMG retailed for about $190K. Brand new, the customer is right. Problem is is that the car was probably not worth $97K new.
  9. I would consider a 300 over the Charger for one reason: GM will not release a semi-affordable RWD large sedan. GM expects you to pay Cadillac prices for that. SAD.
  10. The business case looks weak because gas is about $2.50/gallon. No need to rush things, but GM has to keep developing tech AND release product to compete with Tesla, whether it is in the USA or China.
  11. The V8 will still survive and probably thrive here in the USA until BEVs render the entire line of ICE engines obsolete. That may not happen for another 15-20 years minimum. MB will simply sell the AMG models where the V8 is not somehow banned, like the USA or the Middle East. Now if $5/gal or higher ever returns, then AMG (and a lot of other vehicles) will have a problem finding customers.
  12. A MCE and a new trim level. Good. Gotta keep Ford and Dodge and the Japanese midsize trucks at bay.
  13. I was wondering why the Venza was discontinued. Almost every other automaker has a CUV positioned where the Venza was. I wonder how the Venza will compete in today's auto marketplace.
  14. I hate CAFE too, but Europe and China are leading the charge in raising fuel economy standards now. The entire industry is forced to comply with foreign regs and higher fuel taxes, hence the likes of the UX200 and the X1 and the GLA and the XT4 etc. SAD.
  15. How does it compare to the Cadillac XT4?
  16. Hyundai kinda had to with Genesis. Hummer by GMC does make a lot more sense.
  17. How did Cadillac do compared to other luxury marques in 2019?
  18. PSA has a lot of cleaning up to do, and they will probably be merciless on FCA. As for GM, not sure what they can do for this year at all.
  19. Apparently nobody at KIA has learned that the American market requires certain things and that switching to alphanumerics HERE once you already are currently using names is generally a bad idea. GM changed names (and dumped them from Cadillac) because some of the products associated with the names either had poor reputations or were just bad cars. Chevrolet cars went through this the most. Oldsmobile went through that about 25 years ago. Often it did not go as well as hoped. KIA's perceived problem is that they seem to only want all KIA products to be named exactly the same everywhere around the world. American consumers are far too parochial to own a world car unless it is exceptional. Now if only GM could take market share away from Hyundai/KIA for several years . . . . . .
  20. This will be interesting. Non-luxury makes have names, not alphanumeric designations. I understand that KIA already has them and wishes to import the alphanumerics used in SK to the USA. NOT SURE this will sell.
  21. An AMG Hybrid. Sounds interesting. No idea if MB will actually do that. MB should make their SUVs hybrids standard if they do not want to ditch AMG altogether.
  22. One question: who would build it in high enough quantities for it to be viable in the marketplace? Also, who would buy said vehicle with this powertrain?
  23. I doubt that PSA makes anything that could be the next 300/Charger/Challenger anytime soon. The Pacifica really does not need a platform change anytime soon. Other than that, PSA platforms will address the weaknesses of FCA small and midsize cars (and hopefully crossovers) within a couple of years and actually make all of this work. Which would you rather drive: a Dodge Dart or a Peugeot 208? A Chrysler 200 or a Peugeot 3008?
  24. Sergio's dream now is coming to fruition. After said merger, I wonder if they can really keep all those plants running.
  25. Electricity is getting cleaner at the power plant because more and more power plants are forgoing coal for other sources. Coal-fired plants are shutting down, especially compared to the GM EV1 days over 20 years ago.
