NSX is fine as is. Of course products such as the RDX and the MDX will have to provide the necessary cash to maintain and fund the NSX.

How are the sales numbers? Is Tesla taking market share from other automakers? Stock prices can be based on hype. Actual sales numbers (especially car registrations) are NOT.

You are right in that the Cimarron is too far away from what Cadillac was in '82. In 1989 it probably would have fit in just fine. The problem was was that Cadillac dealers were worried about potential customers wanting the 3 series and buying them instead of a Seville. What those dealers did not realize is that those who wanted a BMW then did not want a Cadillac at all and should not have pushed so hard for a BMW fighter so quickly. This video that I found a few days ago spells out what happened to the Cimarron.

Imagine if the original Cimarron had a Seville interior and the 2.8 v6 from day one. That probably would have solved most of its problems.

Moral of that story: you do NOT get a second chance to make a first impression. That is Hyundai/KIA's strength right now: new product that impresses right off the bat. Cadillac needs to learn this (and continuous improvement) NOW.

Bad driving is just that. SO is scared driving. They need to move right if they wish to drive so slowly, especially on the interstates.

While I like my current Lucerne, I probably would take a 1st generation Aurora instead. Maybe. In fact, I saw a white late-90s Aurora in the last few days while I went shopping for groceries. Sorry, no pics.

BAD cars? Please. A 1982 Cimarron was actually bad. A 1998 Catera was mediocre at best. Today's models are good, but not great. If you wish to complain about interiors compared to a Telluride/Palisade, that is fair. A mid-cycle enhancement will solve that (hopefully very soon). The XT models and the new Escalade are what Cadillac is right now, from a sales standpoint. As for Acura, they have little to worry about. . . . . except for the fact that Hyundai/KIA is bent on total world conquest of all markets worldwide.

It is rather interesting that while Nissan/Infiniti are circling the drain, Acura is struggling because of what the Koreans are doing. Oldsmobile reached its sales peak in 1986 when half of the models sold were the rear-drive G-body Cutlass Supreme models. Once that was replaced by the W-body in 1988, Olds was losing lot of sales (at least until the first Aurora). By the time the Intrigue and the Alero showed up, Olds was on its way out for good. If Acura was meant to replace Olds, it has wildly succeeded. BMW of course is a tougher nut to crack. Pontiac has been replaced by Nissan and Honda/Acura will probably replace Nissan sooner than any of us think.

Who is adding sedans in a CUV/SUV market? No One I suspect. The car sales are no longer there unlike 7-10 years ago.

From the manual of the 2005 Cadillac CTS: There is also an interior temperature sensor located to the right of the steering wheel on the instrument panel. These sensors monitor the solar radiation and the air inside your vehicle, then use the information to maintain the selected temperature by initiating needed adjustments to the temperature, the fan speed and the air delivery system. The system may also supply cooler air to the side of the vehicle facing the sun. The recirculation mode will also be activated, as necessary. Do not cover the sensors or the automatic climate control system will not work properly.

I did see a QX30 in a local parking lot almost two years ago (October 2018). It was white. I actively wondered who would buy that car.

If it is, I think that is an Infiniti QX30. Poor seller. The GLA outsold this by at least 3 to 1.

2021 Buick Envision - where has the news been on this
riviera74 replied to regfootball's topic in Buick
The Envisions down here are actually discounted by $5000 or more. And these are the 2020 models sitting on my local dealer's lot. https://www.dixiebg.com/VehicleSearchResults?model=Envision&year=2020 -
It was not that long ago that Mazda was selling the B-series which was based on a Ford Ranger. No surprise that Mazda would do this again.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
riviera74 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Marketing is an issue since GM does not advertise all that much with cars these days. There is also a product issue. If the Bolt were the size of an Equinox, sales would be triple what the Bolt has sold since inception. -

Well, if GM did not have China as a market, then Buick would have gone the way of Oldsmobile during BK (well, more like Pontiac). The Chinese market saved Buick period. Yes, the CCP (and its leaders) are very bad by any standard, especially in foreign policy. But is it rational for GM to ignore the fastest growing auto market on the planet right now? Is it rational for GM to drop the largest new auto market on the planet? While I am sympathetic to your POV when it comes to China, I am not sure you (or anyone else) would make such a decision to leave China if you were Mary Barra's current position. -
How many of then own a CR-V or a Rogue? I have one aunt who has a Rogue bought by her son.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
riviera74 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Yes, once a customer is convinced that a BEV is the way to go, they are converted to embrace not just the car but all the technology that comes with it. The vast majority of US car buyers are still on ICE because most BEVs are still expensive and current BEVs are not cheap enough to displace the USED car market at all. Small devices are one thing; a BEV is a completely different proposition. I still remember when a cellphone was expensive and did NOT have a touchscreen at all. I remember when the iPhone came out In June 2007 for $600 that you had to pay for upfront. Three years later came the iPad at $500 to start. A LOT of people embraced both technologies very quickly (even if it was a $99 Android phone and/or a $69 Android tablet). BEVs on the other hand are still a niche product because their market share is less than one percent. I would like to one a BEV one day, but the prices are simply too damn high. Most people would agree since they could not afford the monthly payments on a finance job or even a subsidized lease. Moreover, used car prices are such that a BEV looks too expensive for a lot of people right now or even two years ago. Now, create a quality BEV with the range of a top of the Tesla for $10K and a LOT of people will line up for their own BEV. -

I would have liked to see interior pics since that is where the real experience is. I do wish that the Envision came with a V6 but emissions requirements and displacement taxes in China make that almost impossible. -
Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
riviera74 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Exactly. If they really want to replace ICE with BEVs, BEVs have to be significantly cheaper than ICE vehicles since the technology is essentially unproven to the general public (i.e. NOT Tesla owners). -
The theory is sound. In general, more choices ought to bring in more buyers. But given where GM and Ford and Chrysler were in 1970 versus today seems to suggest otherwise.

The comments are making fun of her fairly accurate observation. The believers assume that all car buyers are like them. That is truly hilarious. Barra 1, believers 0.
