  1. Cadillac needs it more, especially since the Lexus LS went V6 a few years back (see LS500 vs. LS460).
  2. Impressive. Too bad Cadillac prematurely killed off the CT6 after only three years. Also, too bad the G90 (fka Equus) did not come out about 15 years ago. Probably would have given a lot of luxury makes a run for their money. Now the GV80 (and presumably a GV90 and GV70) will have to do just that.
  3. If GM really wants to sell these EVs in numbers that make Toyota blush, GM vehicles will probably have to undersell just about everyone for at least three years. GM could use the extra market share.

  5. OK. Why did GM put in the 3.6 V6 again? Also, is that engine less reliable than the turbo 4cyl GM keeps putting in almost every FWD CUV these days?

  8. That may be true right now, but how many EVs will age out before the batteries in them die when they become a lot more commonplace?
  9. Of course that did not work for GM. Market share shrank by one percentage point for four decades from 1968 to 2008. "Make it cheaper, make it common" arguably ruined GM and all the brands underneath. That is why Oldsmobile and Pontiac are dead. If it wasn't for China, Buick would have died too. There simply is no way that Stellantis can pull this off without ending half their brands within three years. The question is simply: which brands will wither and die?
  10. A proper review will end all the chaff in Stellantis. This new firm makes GM look a whole lot like Honda. My only question: what will be sacrificed for maximum profits and cash flow?
  11. GM does; clearly Tesla does NOT warranty their batteries on their EVs. Elon Musk needs to fix that oversight.
  12. NEW EVs need to start at $15K. All of your examples have older battery technology that may not survive and charge fully in five years.
  13. The sad part is that Olds needed the Intrigue back in 1995, along with the first-gen Aurora.
  14. The auto show is dying because it is simply outmoded. Malls (and several specialty and department stores) have the same issues and will either be dead (Sears & K-Mart) or wither and die (a lot of others). As for the electronics shows, I hold no hope that those will survive for very long either.
  15. Personally, I think that Stellantis should (at least for a while) keep the 300/Charger/Challenger triplets. As for CUVs and minivans, they can do what they like with the brands that exist. Stellantis could easily rebagde SOME of their CUVs and FWD cars as Chryslers with probably little or no negative feedback. Bring them as Cintroens: automatic fail. Nobody here misses Renault since they left in 1988. Tavares has a lot of work ahead of him in order to succeed here in the most competitive automotive marketplace on Earth. NO one here will miss FIAT because their cars are terrible.
  16. I do agree with what you said, ban or not. There need to be BEVs that start at about $15K, not $30K, for the EV market to be truly viable. EVs have to get consumers to ditch the used car market for new EVs first. Too bad they are not available right now. 2030 is certainly much more viable than right now for all of this to happen. I do not think bans are really necessary.

  20. Sounds like good news. . . . . except for the oil companies buying up battery companies bit. Reminds me a little too much of GM NOT releasing the V8-6-4 prototype in 1968 because their shareholders (read: oil companies) did not want a reduction of their business.
  21. Daimler will probably survive this. The hatred for MB is nowhere nearly as broad or as deep as it is/was for GM from 1980 to 2010.
  22. Even though Buick sells 4 units in China to just 1 here, It is still here. Sure, Buick CUVs are generally quieter than Chevy and GMC. Buick could use something else to differentiate it from GMC especially; or GM could simply allow Buick to be China only.
  23. The simple question is this: Why should a luxury car/CUV buyer switch to Cadillac over Lexus and the Germans? If I knew what Cadillac's unique selling point was, then I would push that and somehow get luxury buyers to ditch German iron in a heartbeat. Why are all of Cadillac CUVs FWD? Simple: the original SRX was not the great seller Cadillac needed it to be so they switched it to FWD and sales soared. That is why all of the XTs are FWD appliances. Emulating the Germans was a failure where it matters most: the sales charts. What Cadillac REALLY needs is a USP that will crush the Germans. Only problem: half of US car buyers will not even consider buying or leasing GM product whatsoever. As for the Lyriq, Cadillac really needs a plan to take back market share right now. Especially before the Lyriq and other Cadillac EVs are released to the public.

  25. Well, in South Korea, they do not buy non-Korean products if they can help it. Here in the USA, Ioniq MAY have a chance. I hope Elon Musk is ready to see a lot of Tesla orders disappear over there.
