  2. Honestly, it makes little difference whether trims are there or not. They choose packages now instead of trims. If you wanted a LaCrosse with leather, rather than choosing a CXL to get it, you simply choose a LaCrosse with a certain package that includes leather. It's really not difficult. That thought did not occur to me. Then again, in general I would probably want the best in a certain model anyway if I bought a new car. I do hope that this works better for Buick.

    A baby Enclave

    According to Automotive News, Encore: The "Baby Enclave" compact crossover, tentatively called the Encore, will arrive in the 2013 model year. The five-seater is built on the Delta compact-car platform. Why use the Delta platform (which is on the Chevy Cruze) rather than Theta-Epsilon (which is a second-generation SRX)? I thought Buick would be a premium marque, not a Chevy clone. I could understand if the next-gen Equinox and Terrain go to Delta 2, but why a Buick?
  4. That is exactly what I want and Buick needs: a Commodore with a Buick package, inside and out.
  5. I personally have seen a few members post that Cadillac needs a Lambda vehicle to replace the Escalade (currently a GMT-900). Given that Buick already has the Enclave, why would Cadillac need to do that? Vote and discuss.

  7. Why get rid of the trim designations? How is any buyer supposed to know what equipment package has what? It does not seem to make any sense to the average customer (or me, for that matter).

  10. Really. Other than the Mustang and the trucks, where is the RWD? Lincoln right now is trying to be Acura . . . . 5-10 years ago, before SH-AWD. Performance FWD is ultimately a non-starter.

  13. The Impala will not be RWD in 3 years or ever. It will move to the Epsilon II platform in about 3 years. GM may import the Holden Commodore here again as a Chevrolet in a few years, but even that program is iffy. That is rather lame. If GM does import that Commodore as a Caprice available for civilian as well as police duty, that should suffice.
  14. I suspect a lot of people would agree. No Cadillac deserved that 4100. At least the 3800 would have had better MPG, which was the concern back then.
  15. QFT. +1. GM needs to ditch about 1000 pounds in their trucks, and that will solve just about everything.
  16. A good turbo v6. Ummm, where? AFAIK, since GM loves putting in pushrod v8s into trucks, where is that v6 equivalent if there is a need for them? Certainly the 3.6L v6 is too refined for a truck (not to mention trucks NEED torque). Also, when is GM going to release their new Ranger fighter anyways? Not everyone needs a Silverado.
  17. He is right about the Nissan Leaf. A better question is whether such a pure EV could survive winters in Detroit or Minneapolis, since it is such an urban vehicle.
  18. Dwightlooi, has GM ever made a GOOD pushrod 4cyl? I know that the Buick 231 (nowadays the 3800 Series I,II,III) was a fabulous v6. I should know: both my former Intrigue, 1st gen LaCrosse and my Park Avenue Ultra have that engine.

  20. No character. There are buyers who buy reliable, no character cars. Mind you, they tend to buy Hondas and Toyotas more often than not. Then again, the Impy could use the new powertrain. I just wish the RWD, character driven Impala was here now rather than in three years, if only to compete with the Dodge Charger. C'mon GM! You can do it!
  21. The IBC (i.e. pushrod) V8 seems better, but is it noisier than the DOHC V8? It seems that almost everyone else with a V8 went DOHC years ago since that is all they build.
  22. I heard from the local dealer that 2011 is the last of the Lucerne and Cadillac DTS. A FWD not-quite large sedan is not a worthy flagship for Buick. I do like the second-generation LaCrosse, a LOT more than the first-gen. Maybe I am a bit of a traditionalist, especially since the death of dear Oldsmobile seven years ago. Buick still deserves a RWD flagship: if Chrysler and Hyundai can do it, why won't GM?
