  1. Asia will not crack the fullsize truck market and here's 3 reasons. 1. Toyota Tundra 2. Nissan Titan 3. Honda Ridgeline All hailed as superior trucks that changed the way trucks are percieved, blah blah blah. Has any of them made a dent? Nissan now has bragging rights with magazine publications, but no sales to back that up. The Ridgeline is an Avalanche without balls, and the Tundra is the wimpiest truck on the market. The new Tundra wont be anything more than the current Tundra is. A guy driving to and from a construction site doesnt give two sh*ts about what his trucks interior looks like.
  2. That does bring up an interesting point. There are people who are actually on waiting lists for STS's. So GM really doesn't have a problem with what these magazines say about the car. Thing is though, they have reviewed the STS a lot. In a lot of comparison tests. Last time it came in 6th. When it went up against the BMW it beat it in almost every category, but "approached the sedan differently". Motor Trend has a nice "Why Detroit Should Be Worried Pt 1 and 2" at the beginning of their new issue. The Tundra? GM should be worried about the Tundra? I'd worry that the Mitsubishi Raider take more sales away from the Silverado than the Tundra. Also notice the graph sales of the Titan...fizzed out. The one market Japan will never conquer is the truck market. Period.
  3. Saweet! Avalanche in April! Means Ill get mine in December just in time for rebates and junk. Awesome info.
  4. Man...it'd be nice if the XLR had the supercharged Northstar standard, and the XLR-V had the V-12 northstar in it...
  5. Seems like they always have these doesnt it? I open the pages of my new Motor Trend, and see immediately: V-8 SPORT SEDAN SHOOTOUT M45 meets 545i meets E500 meets CADDY STS. I knew the result without opening the damn magazine. STS in last place. So what comments did they have on it? If I'm allowed to scan the entire article in here, I'll do so glady so you guys can see it. The idea in a nutshell is "GM's premium division continues to improve, but so do the rest." Complaints were that the Cadillac had too much interior noise and that switching from touring to performance was a nuisance. The running order were as follows; 1st Place: BMW 545i 2nd Place: Mercedes E500 3rd Place: Inifinty M45 4th Place: Caddy *sigh* Dont really know what else to say other than ugh.
  6. I do agree that Im a bit dissapointed with the lack of a different interior. I can't really ask for a completely different, but enough differentiation to give it more flare or a different feel. What we are doing right now though, is exactly what GM wants though. Differentiation. You are already picking sides. You look at the Yukon, and all of the sudden you like the Tahoe a lot better. In your mind, the Tahoe has seemingly made a jump in you conscience as a potential vehicle to buy, if your in the market for an SUV. Before it was like GMC, Chevy, whatever. But now, depending on your tastes, you like one I guess more than another by a larger margin. Which is a good thing, as GMC and Chevy's markets will now become a bit less generalized, and a bit more defined.
  7. I really dont think these pictures do it justice, especially the Denali. The grill looks odd in the pictures, as the hole-filled grill looks a bit strange. The Yukon looks like it took a step towards the Escalade. I like it though, it can at least distinguish itself from the Tahoe...the last Tahoe/Yukon were more or less wearing different grilles. I still think the front end could use a bit more definition, but Im pretty sure these pictures dont do it much justice.

    The Magazines

Hey all, still relatively new to the forums but wanted your opinions on this. It has become a chip on my shoulder to read articles in magazines that downplay the domestics (namely in the 4 door and SUV segments). Question is this, with the Tahoe coming in next year, do you guys think that the magazine editors will either A. Commend it, give it a thumbs and and realize that domestics are making a move towards the imports throats. or B. Nitpick it, talk bad about it and give it a 3rd place or worse in a comparison test behind the Toyota Sequoia, 4runner, Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder or otherwise. My concern isn't that the General wont make a strong showing with its new SUV's, but that these guys will give them bad publicity AGAIN as seems to be the trend. Go look at a Motor Trend and see what they write about the 2006 Corvette. "This Corvette may be the best yet but penny pinching is beginning to show". In the description. They placed the Cobalt in dead last in a comparison test between a Corolla, a Focus and a Civic. Saying it came to the fight with a knife instead of a gun. I understand that they have their opinions, but does it get to the point where its past reason, where its even past bias? Where it's just the fact that they don't like anything domestic? The absolute BEST example of this is the comparison between the BMW 5-Series and the Cadillac STS. They compare the two, and throughout the article the Caddy is constantly commended for not being too high-brow and being refined. The 5 series is labeled as "trying too hard" and I-Drive speaks for itself. You get to the end of the article, after what seems to be a clear win for the Caddy. Then it's like the editors said "Oh crap, if we keep going down this road we're gonna have to make the Cadillac the winner." Then go on to say how the two sedans "have different approaches" and that they can not claim a real winner. I was left dumbfounded. I can't help but wonder if the Cobalt had a damn "H" on its grill, would it get in 1st or 2nd in those comparo tests. They never nitpick the imports...
  9. Great read and great review. This should be sent to General Motors...awaiting anxiously the reviews on the new Avalanche/Tahoe/Escalade.
  10. I knew from the hard line on the rear bumper that it was a CTS...I've seen some concept drawings of what the next CTS will look like. Plans for GM are to improve the CTS and STS suspension and frame and pass it down to Saturn. At least from what I read. The new CTS should be a doozy, and if they can cram a V-8 in it (5.3 maybe? 5.7?) it'd sell like pancakes and shut Chrysler up about their 300. Plus the new Avalon seems to be having sex with every magazine editor from here to China so the new CTS should be "just better" it should be flat out fantastic. The 4 door market has gotten very tough in that segment...
  11. WHOOT! Thats music to my ears! Can't wait till they unveil them now....thanks a lot CadillacCTS!
  12. Agreed wholeheartedly. I loved the original Avalanche, 2002-2003. The body hardware and nose made it look menacing, mean, and huge. It looked like a tank. The WBH Avalanches looked soft. That pleases me greatly to hear that the Avalanche has a more agressive front, even if the side got a more passive treatment.
  13. Does the front end distinguish it from the Tahoe front end, or are they the same thing? Is it more reserved like the Tahoe, or more bold like say the Escalade? Ive been waiting forever for the new Avalanche to surface, as it will most likely be my next truck. Any ideas on when theyre going to unveil this thing to the public?
  14. Hey all, new to the site, been browsing a while until I read this and had to post... Car and Driver tested time: 3.7 seconds Motor Trend tested time: 3.5 seconds Road and Track: 4.2 seconds? What the hell happened, was this the guys first time driving a stick? That is not a good way to publicize the Z06. If you guys want me to post an image of Motor Trend's numbers on here, let me know... EDIT: I believe GM's tested time for the Z06 is 3.7 seconds as well, so the idea that Road and Track want to try belittle GM's Italian eating race horse isn't a farfetched one...
