  1. lol 0-60 took 4.5 seconds? Great article and review...but 4.5 seconds? That's a tenth slower than a CTS-V. Its good to hear people are so happy with the new Z06...
  2. Heh. How is it again that the Navigator's interior is better than the Escalades? Quality and textures? You've never even sat in the damn thing, you can barely see the level of finish on the plastic inside and your mouthing off on plastics and materials. Take a good look at those two pathetic Japanese entries. They PALE in comparison to the Lade interior. Not even close. If you think they are, then hand me some very high wading boots, because your kidding yourself. Stuff that doesnt set it apart: 1. Better exterior than rivals 2. Better interior than rivals 3. More power than rivals 4. Better gas mileage than rivals 5. More options than rivals Oh yeah...none of that sets a new standard for SUVs. 403 HP? Tell me what Jap SUV will touch that. NONE. So you can kid yourself all your want about how all that cheesy white plastic on the Navigator looks good, and we can just be content with a class leading effort by GM.
  3. You know...I was pissed until I saw a GM photo of the current Escalade. Go look at it. It looks droopy compared to the GMT-900 Escalade. It looks different in photos. Up close and in person, the 800 Escalade looks more aggressive and edgier. This one we are seeing in photos. Exterior owns the Nav, and the Lexus, and DEFINITELY the QX56. That SUV seems like a hiccup in Nissans otherwise great design group. The Navigator's interior is far too "filler". The Escalade IS better than the Navigator and no one can deny that. Period. The GX interior is ok with the exception of a few tacky details that no one would notice unless its on a GM vehicle. That tacky tape player looks like it came out of a Corolla. That crummy digital clock that looks pulled out of the IS. The QX56 interior looks like it was designed by a blind mand with no hands. The hell were they thinking? Its gaudy, obtrusive and does not flow well at all. Just like the rest of the truck. From what Ive read, it doesnt drive much better than it looks. So LOL at that Infiniti. Of the 4, the Escalade IS the best, interiorwise and exteriorwise. There is no question. So with that said I change my grades to B+ exterior and A interior. I like it more every time I look at it, and now that I see the competition, well...it will be class leading in every aspect. It'll also easily be the best selling of the 4.
  4. It looks a lot better in the first image than the previous images that were shown last night. The grille detail looks a lot nicer close up than far away. It doesnt look as bad as it did yesterday...when I in blind rage.
  5. Really makes you wonder what the process was for the new Escalade. A & S will no doubt still be alive in the new CTS...expectations were INSANELY high for this vehicle...it fell short. The Tahoe, which will be the best selling of the 3 and GM's biggest cash cow, did NOT fall short of expectations. It looks good, inside and out, and really blew people away. Does anyone know when the Avalanche is set to debut? Is it going to have the jelly-bean sides too? Thats one thing I loved about the previous Avalanche was how aggressive it was. How original it was. It screamed American.
  6. I just pulled up the Tahoe interior vs the Escalade interior, and no doubt the Escalades dash and center console are superior. It just looks a lot more refined and higher class. Larger screen, no wood grain "filler" around the Nav unit, and the gauges look gorgeous. The grades I give it so far: Interior: A- Exterior: B- The last Escalade was razor sharp, like the CTS. If the last one was a switch blade, this one is a butter knife. Regardless, Im completely happy with the interior...and maybe some other pictures will make it look better.
  7. "One look and there's no doubt it's an Escalade," says Taylor . "The '07 Escalade introduces the future of Cadillac design, which matches leading edge forms and styling with superior craftsmanship and attention to detail." Scary line right there. Craftsmanship? Yeah. Leading edge forms and styling? Not so sure about that...Im still praying that its the photo thats making look all jelly-beanish.
  8. I dont really know what to think of it. The interior I like. The center console is nicer than that of the Tahoe/Yukon and the blue gauges look good as well. I think its the grille that gets me...looks wierd from that angle. Doesnt look aggressive at all, not like the CTS or the old Escalade. Looks more yuppy now. Of the three, Im most impressed with the Tahoe. The old Escalade took a while to grow on me, maybe this one will too...
  9. Im reserving judgement for when I see it. What Im hoping happens later today as that we all swallow any doubts we had about the Caddy and just bask in its glory. Thats not to say Im not worried about what I've seen. I completely agree, there is nothing arts or science about that test mule they got there. Kind of worries me, yes. But Im still riding on hopes that the REAL Escalade has different sheet metal to distinguish it from the Tahoe. It has to. It better.
  10. Heh. Did everyone forget about the Tahoe? It looks fantastic inside and out. So the GMC looks more bland, you havent seen the Escalade yet, and are already predicting doom for GM. What exactly were you expecting from GM? Something like the pug fugly Armada? It's a damn SUV. Do you expect it to share the sheet metal with the Tahoe? Hell, the last Escalade didnt so why would this one? Your looking at a vehicle that isnt close to show room worthy, and already making predictions that there is nothing Arts and Science about it. Im kind of confused as to what people want out of GM...the interior looks fabulous, but now the problem is with the exterior? Geez. Im still waiting to see the Avalanche and how aggressive or bland it will be in comparison to the old Av. And for those who think GMT-800 was more distinct than GMT-900...your really just talking out of your ass. They had the same damn interior. Talk when the vehicles are shown. As of now, all we have are the Yukon and Tahoe. Gas prices are coincidentally going down, which will drive some people into buying these things. Im still confident in these things...all this discussion from one fuc*ing picture. Jesus.
  11. Thats my issue with Motor Trend as well...they did an article on the GMT-900s if anyone saw. Basically, in a nutshell, they said: "Will they be top of the line? Yeah. Will they look good? Yeah. But the SUV market is declining so fast, so even if they hit one out of the ballpark it wont really matter if the market is gone." I saw that too, about the HP. That was in the same issue I believe where they said GM should be worried about a new Tundra coming out. lol. It's blatant, and that's what I hate about it. Even if the Miata is lighter, its only quicker to 60 by .1. I'm not denying that the Miata is a nice car, but come on give GM a break and stop nitpicking at every little thing. It happens in Cobalt, H3, Solstice, STS, CTS, SRX, and Impala articles. GTO too...guess its an uphill battle.
  12. Dont know if anyone caught the Miata vs Solstice shoot out in the new Motor Trend. Sadly, the Solstice was labeled as the loser, and Motor Trend sends a few buyers in Mazdas direction. A few notes from the "review" -Solstice is 400 pounds heavier, thus a worse car. -Has a better interior than the MX-5, more legroom and headroom, but they kept this section as short as they possible could. -The cupholders and window controls are in awkward spots, making them hard to get to -No center storage -Less smooth engine -Is cheaper -Less room in the trunk with the top down "The MX-5 is a more athletic, lithe drive in most every respect." Also, looks were not really taken into account in this article. Funny how the "gotta have it" factor was blatantly ignored in this article...when it was very easily taken into account in the GTO vs Charger article a few pages ahead. At least we got some publicity.
  13. Whoop, didnt read those numbers right. The Xterra has been outselling the H3. Apologies. After reading the H3 "Review" over and over again, the article suffers from bias, much like the Solstice and GTO articles a few pages ahead of it. Sad. There is a paragraph that takes up 2/3 of the write-up that focuses on how much the I5 sucks. Then 1/3 on the stuff that matters. It ends on a "Its mostly a marketing exercise you wouldn't want to drive every day." Wtf? What would happen if the H3 had athe 5.3 and averaged 19/25? The Solstice article made me sick to my core, the GTO article did as well. Why did I subscribe to 2 years of Motor Trend again?
  14. Drop the C5 Z06's engine in it and call it the Camaro SS...this car needs to be damn iconic. It's #1 competitor will be the Mustang...but the problem with sales will be sadly how it appeals to female buyers. The Mustang is still a bit on the girly side. The Camaro just can't seem to do that...which I cant help but love. After all, it was a 1994 Z-28 that got me lovin GM cars in the first place....
  15. I love the smell of overkill. Ironically...I'd love to have one of those little beasts. Just the feeling of a 350Z pulling up next to you...or an Evo, or a Mustang, or a Viper for that matter. Any stats on the car yet?
  16. Why doesnt the Jeep Wrangler get terrible reviews? lol. This is what's amusing to me about General Motors vehicles. They aren't praised for what they do well, and an H3 does A LOT of things well (nice roomy interior, great looks, comfy seats, insane offroading abilities) but what do people look at first? I-5 I-5 I-5. The Wrangler rides worse, looks worse, worse interior, and does anyone care? Nope. Only when GM comes out with a car like the H3 do people nitpick every little thing. I too read that review, and I just laugh. The I-5 was implimented to make the approach angle larger, thus making it able to climb over various terrain. It's selling plenty more than their so called SUV of the year, so while Motor Trend is trying desperately to get H3 buyers to get an Xterra, GM is selling more and more each day. Yeah, GM REALLY needs to fix that pathetic vehicle.
  17. Miata over Solstice is a no brainer. Its pretty much Mazda's flagship car, versus a niche car GM made. Regardless, almost all Solstices are accounted for, so the domestic buying public wont be persuaded by a biased comparison test. Im rather confused how a 4-door sedan compares to a 2-door coupe, for lack of better competition I guess. Either way, theres been enough coverage on the 300 and Magnum to fill a cruise ship with, so I dont get why they have to compare the Magnum to the GTO when it was already done in a previous issue (CTS-V vs GTO vs 300 SRT8). More bad publicity for the GTO, which was ousted by the Mustang GT based on the "gotta have it" factor alone. (The GTO beat it in most categories, had more points, but they gave it significantly more points in this category, pushing its total to 1 point above the GTO, thus winning). Did the Viper beat the Z06 to 60 or in the quarter mile?
  18. Ridgelines competition is the HHR and Solstice. Not the Colorado. Not the Avalanche. Why? The Avalanche has already established itself as an option for people considering the following: Silverado, Sierra, Escalade The Ridgeline is not an option for those considering a Titan, Tundra or Tacoma. It's a car with a bed. You can not get around that. It's a niche vehicle like the HHR and Solstice are. Its innovative? Slap an H on it and yes, its innovative. Just like the Prius was innovative. Was the Avalanche innovative? No. It was a crap load of plastic, wasted too much gas, didnt have a diesel, etc etc. So this new "Truck" from Honda comes out, and the magazine editors and Honda lovers think that it's an "option" to real trucks? Its as ugly as an Aztek. It's a niche vehicle that will not sell. Go look at Titan sales. Magazines helped it sell for the first 4 months of it in the states, and since then? Its flattened. And this is from an actual formidable threat to the big 3's trucks. But thats besides the point; does anyone here actually think the sales of this thing, in its FIRST YEAR of production, will actually rise? No. If I wanted an import truck, I'd get a Tacoma. Not this thing. Seeing people convince themselves that this thing is a success is like Baja owners doing the same thing.
  19. What Diesel would fit into an H3? Duramax is too big for an H2, let alone an H3...if they somehow managed that I'd buy an H3. Instantly.
  20. It'll probably still win about 5 comparison tests and then they'll say that its Mazda styling done right and how GM should be worried. It's boring, like everything else Toyota makes.
  21. If Chrysler can sell the Dodge Magnum, why cant the General sell an El Camino?
  22. Music to my ears.

    CTS-V Drifter

    Good Lord thats awesome.
  24. This whole damn segment is bias, which im having a tough time dealing with as of late. Funny how the 330i has problems and its a "fluke". If the Caddy had those same problems it'd be one of those "same ole GM" type of things. CTS-V vs BMW M3 for example, pound for pound dont compare, in my eyes. One's a notch above a rice rocket, the other is a notch below beast. So in that sense, the CTS and the 3-Series ARE different cars aimed at different crowds.
  25. Wow. Thats hideous. Those AC Controls remind me of the old Silverado's AC controls. Im sorry, but supportive bucket seats? Have you sat in a Tundra? Silverado/Sierra seats own Tundra seats.
