  1. I don't think there are very many "modders" that are going to spend $65,000 on a project vehicle. There will be a few, but no where near the numbers that would warrent the manufacture of many aftermarket parts.
  2. Could have been an awesome Nissan "halo vehicle".....now it will just be an unaffordable luxury sports car. I guess they had to justify the cost by calling it an Infinity? <_<
  3. Dodge sold 11,143 Durango's last month. Doesn't sound too bad to me. Also, for the people saying that it is the wrong time to add another large SUV due to fuel costs......see the thread I posted about the Hybrid Durango. I'm sure the Aspen will have the Hybrid system......if not debut with with it.

  6. I don't know what article you read.....but I don't see that 90% statistic anywhere in the articles in the first post of this thread. You fail to realize that if there was absolutely no Toyota that ever existed, then those auto parts clerks, and Sears mechanics would just be dependant on even more Ford, Chevy, and Chrysler vehicles. Toyota only has 38,000 employees in North America, and Chevy is going to cut an additional 30,000 on top of what they have cut in the recent past. Add in the employees that Ford and Chrysler have cut.....and the net gain of Toyota employees is like -10,000 or something.

  9. I don't think Toyota needs you lying for them, as they are doing fine on their own. Here's the link to the side crash test: http://www.iihs.org/ratings/ratingsbyseries.aspx?id=305 As I hope you can see, the 2003-2006 Corolla got a POOR SIDE IMPACT rating without side airbags, and an ACCEPTABLE SIDE IMPACT rating with the side airbags. This in no way translates to a 5 STAR "All Around" rating. Here is the HEAD RESTRAINT ratings: http://www.iihs.org/ratings/head_restraints/head_toyota.html As I hope you can see, the 2003-2004 Corolla got an overall score of ACCEPTABLE for seats with an adjustable height, and the 2005-2006 Corolla got an overall rating of POOR for all seats. This also in no way translates to 5 STARS "All Around". Forbes states clearly in their article that their ratings were based on side and rear impacts only, and they suggested that if you purchase one of those vehicles, you be best off getting the optional side air bags.

  11. O.K. There is a certain amount of market share available for selling vehicles. At one point in time, the Big 3 pretty much split all of it (with a small amount going to European brands). Then came the Japanese brands. They could build vehicles much cheaper in a culture where people actually took honor in making a quality product. So they started selling more of these cheaper vehicles in the US, which started to take away some of the Big 3's market share. Then the word caught on that these cheap cars were not that bad, and more people started buying them. Then, at some point, these vehicles were no longer cheaper than their domestic competitors, and people still continued to buy them en masse under the idea that they were some how superior in quality to their domestic competitors....which turns out to be factually untrue in many cases. Then they built a couple "final assembly locations" in the US, and BANG.....they are now "built in America". The market share for Toyota and Honda continues to rise, as the market share for the Big 3 continues to fall. How do you not feel Toyota is to blame for reduced market share for the Big 3?? What if there was no Toyota or Honda?? That market share would then be split between the Big 3 and the few European brands. So, no matter how you slice it, it is Toyota's fault (directly or indirectly) for the Big 3 laying off workers.
  12. :puke: The real answer is that it was lighter, and had better tires for driving on sand. That was evident when the tires kept poping on the rocks. The other teams were prepared for both surfaces. It's also obvious that this car has a heavily modified suspension, because it wouldn't have gotton far with the same suspension that Edmunds destroyed on an unpaved road.

I've had integrated antennas on my last two vehicles.....2002 Monte Carlo SS and current 2005 300 Touring.....and I'll say that the local stations come in fine, but the external antenna in my old 1995 Talon TSi seemed to get better reception with farter away stations. With that said, I'd rather have the looks of the integrated antenna....and my company makes glass with integrated antennas.
  15. There will be and upper/midlevel engine making at least 250 HP & 250 ft/lbs, and there will be a top level engine making what I will guess as upwards of 280 HP. Those are class leading numbers for this size vehicle.

Yeah, 200 HP and 188 ft/lbs in the older Chrysler cars in the mid 90's is really weak for a 2.7L, that get's upwards of 28 MPG. :rolleyes: It's was retuned for more torque on the heavy LX cars and now gets 190 HP/190 ft/lbs. while still getting 28 MPG. However it will be replaced very soon. Why complain about old engines that are just about to be replaced? The GM 3800 only got 205 HP out of 3.8L.

  19. I don't know what you mean by "I'm very surprised Chrysler is going through with a sebring", but the Dodge Avenger will look nothing like the Sebring. Well, maybe as much as the 300 looks like the Charger.
