  1. Yeah, but the whole point is that Caliber is being criticized for maxing out at $29K......and that's with a diesel or hybrid option, AWD, and a CVT. The other cars that were mentioned get close to maxing out at $29K, and don't have these options. I'm guessing most Calibers will sell for around $20K. The pretty much loaded R/T(2.4L) that I priced with leather, mp3 radio/premium sound, moonroof, and extra priced orange paint was $22K. Seems very reasonable to me.
  2. [/b] That's what a guy at work said too. Like I said, I did not confirm the numbers. But now I just did, and I got $26,355. That was with every option.....which seems to include a bunch of, what other manufacturers consider "accessories". Man, you Mazda guys get very defensive.
  3. The SE has always been the base Charger with the 3.5L. The 2.7L is only available on "fleet" SE's.
  4. I had the pleasure of driving a Liberty Renegade for the last three days while my car was getting fixed (some jackass keyed it, and I cought him, and he paid for the repairs  ). Enterprise tried to give me a Focus, and I told them that the collision shop said I would get a "good" vehicle.....so they let me have the Liberty. I was going to buy one right when they came out, but I would have had to wait like 3 months for what I wanted. Now I kind of wished that I would have gotton one! That thing was fun as hell. It helped that it snowed like 5 inches when I had it. The 3.7L was alot torqueier than I expected, and it seemed pretty fast 0-60. It did seem to waste gas pretty quickly.....but I was doing 4WD donuts, some mild offroading, and puching it quite often. The engine seemd really loud when accelerating, but I liked it. A Jeep doesn't need to be dead silent, well except for maybe a GC or Commander.
  5. The only identical interiors are in the Magnum and Charger.......and if you think about it, they should be commended for making the exterior if the two vehicles different......because you could argue that the Charger is the sedan version of the Magnum wagon. How many other sedans, with a wagon counterpart, have different EXTERIORS? (little to none) Now how many have the same INTERIOR?......most likely all of them!
  6. I'm sure the look of the windshield has something to do with structural rigidity, due to the vehicle being a convertible. That's a heavy car, and probably needs reinforcement just to handle it's own weight in case of a roll over.
  7. I saw a guy drving a jacked up F250, and he had a sticker on the back window that said: "Sucks Gass & Hauls Ass"
  8. Is Toyota still claiming that centrally located gauges are more natural to look at.......or are they finally admitting that they are located there because it's cheaper to sell this car in Japan and the US?? <_<
  9. The Liberty is supposed to get a little bigger, the Patriot will be entry level, and the Compass will be an AWD soft roader.
  10. So taking "advantage of people's misunderstandings about hybrids" is just fine for one of the world's top companies to do?? And you support this? That quote from the author is completely true. If we were to use outrageously more oil......ie. all drive Hummer H1's...... then oil prices on Middle Eastern oil would go up significantly due to demand. The reason we don't use Canada's "oil sands", is because it costs a great deal more to extract usable oil from, and is not competative with just pumping oil out of the ground....like in the Middle East. If Middle Eastern prices were to go up significantly, then Canada's oil sands would become a comparable alternative, and we (the US) would buy all of our expensive oil from them.
  11. Notice it still has the fold-down front windshield! B) I wasn't sure if it was going to, because my company makes the current flat windshield, and we aren't making it for the next gen, bcause it's going to be bent.
  12. :word:
  13. The only thing I don't like is how the the angle of the hood blends into the rake of the windshield. It makes it look "Asian". A flatter hood would have looked better. The rest looks O.K. to me.
  14. Don't know how final these numbers are, but: Here's a quote from Allpar.com regarding the $29K price: I did not confirm those numbers.

  16. After looking at the thread on Allpar.com, it looks like the Caliber will be available with quite a few powertrian options: -1.8L DOHC 16-Valve I4 -2.0L DOHC 16-Valve I4 -2.4L DOHC 16-Valve I4 -2.0L DOHC 16-Valve I4 Turbo Diesel -Gas-Electric Hybrid -FWD -AWD -4-Speed Automatic Transaxle -5-Speed Manual Transaxle -Continuously Variable Transaxle (CVT) Like Burger King......you can have it your way!
  17. The latest from Allpar.com:
  18. Tell me where I can get one of these then:
  19. What's the big deal. I didn't learn anything new from this article. Toyota uses currency maniulation to gain market share. We knew this for a long time. What else.....they have a bunch of new vehicles coming up. Well yeah, alot of them are old and outdated. Trucks? They will be class leading just like the Titan, and it will be the end of domestics trucks as we know it. Riiiight.
  20. These guys need a new photographer. The lighting sucks in every picture. Lincoln makes the Executive L for the livery market, which is an extended wheel base version of the Town Car with six inches added to the back seat area. Just because a vehicle is a limousine......doesn't always mean it's a stretched limousine.
  21. Cheaper. One is a crossover with carlike handling.
  22. Mercedes has 3 SUV's if you count the old G-wagon (which I think is still in production), and one crossover (not a truck). They have a ton of cars if you count the little cars in Europe. I doubt people are going to cross shop this GL with the Escalade. The GL is a status symbol, and the people who would buy one wouldn't be caught dead driving an Escalade. I would compare the GL to a Range Rover before the Escalade.
  23. Well, that makes alot more sense now.
  24. You're talking about the Mustang GT, and not the Ford GT......right??
  25. I worked at a dealership that had one of these Datsuns: Yep, that's right.....it'a 1971 240Z kitted up to look like a 1962 Ferrari GTO. Man that thing drove great. The original Datsun 240Z transmission shifted like butter. Here's a real Ferrari GTO to compare. They are almost identical. I got so many stares when I drove that kit car. It had a sweet exhaust note too!
