I rented a Spark in January for a weekend. It performed as well as and felt about as roomy as my 1985 1/2 Ford Escort.

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2013/03/chart-of-the-day-full-size-sedan-freefall/ "Speaking of the Taurus, another rumor making the rounds right now is that the Taurus won’t be back after this generation. Poor margins and difficulties during the development process meant that the Taurus has been scrapped part way through the development process, and Ford is content with the Fusion acting as its flagship sedan. If this situation holds true, that leaves Chevrolet and Chrysler as the vanguards of the large American sedan."
-
I prefer the Taurus to the Fusion because of the 290 hp standard V6 and over 20 cubic foot trunk. Also the Taurus, to my eyes, looks like a modern version of the big Fords of the 1960's. With the popularity of crossovers, I wouldn't be surprised if the next generation Taurus is the last one.

How do you feel about the VW Golf?

Chicago Auto Show: 2014 Kia Forte 5-Door: Comments

The VW Golf is my favorite small car, and this is the first Kia I would consider buying, as it resembles the Golf. -
Lincoln News: Lincoln Sets A Goal Of 18% Increase In Sales
ehaase replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
Lincoln won't develop a RWD flagship but I wish it would develop a large roomy sedan using the Flex wheelbase to replace the MKS. -
I'd prefer Buick had a Verano wagon and Chevrolet got the Trax over this. But I look forward to the next generation Equinox which will be Delta based and hopefully as roomy as the current model and less chunky.

I think GM is stuck with the Malibu until around 2018. There is a rumor that GM will replace the Lambda and Epsilon platforms with one platform just as it may replace the Delta and Theta platforms with one new platform.
-
nsap on GMI says that Sonic, Equinox, and Malibu are getting the 1.6T, and the Cruze won't. I hope that's not true, but I have read nothing of Ford putting the 1.6EB in the U.S. Focus.

For those who have driven both, which is better - the Verano or the 2013 Malibu?

This is the last Buick ever built that I really loved. -

Except for the 4100, this and the 1994 to 1996 Fleetwood are what a Cadillac should be. -

Cheers or Jeers: 501 Mile 1976 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham
ehaase replied to wildmanjoe's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
I love this generation of Bonnevilles. A family friend had a 1975 Bonneville sedan, and I was thrilled when I was 14 to get to back it up the driveway. It used the B platform but looked like a C platform. I like this car better than anything GM sells today. I would buy this if I had the mechanical skills to properly care for it. -
The Delta platform Cruze and Verano turned out so well that it would be hard for me to justify the purchase of a short wheelbase Epsilon II Malibu or Regal. The Verano is quite a substantial looking car that just needs 2 or 3 more mpg. The new Impala looks nice but to my eyes it is a modernized version of the current car. I couldn't imagine buying one with the 2.5. 31 mpg highway is barely higher than what much more powerful V6's in this class are getting.

I think things wnill improve for Fiat when the 500L debuts. I think the 500L will be a good contender for Chrysler in the B class market.

Cheers or Jeers: 802 Mile 1983 Lincoln Continental Mark VI
ehaase replied to wildmanjoe's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
I love the Mark VI, especially the sedan. I'd take this over any Lincoln built today. -
Peter DeLorenzo said on the latest Autoline After Hours that Buick needs to cut back to the LaCrosse, Enclave, and a new Riviera. Looking at the sales of the Regal and what may happen to Opel, he may be right.

Nissan should leave the full size truck market. Nissan's only good sellers are the Altima, Rogue, and Infiniti G series.
