  1. GM - Corvette, Suburban/Yukon XL, Impala SS Ford - Mustang, any of the Panthers, 500/Montego Chrysler - 300C European - VW Passat Asia - Toyota Avalon
  2. I only see Zeta going to Spring Hill, if (1) GM decides to close Detroit-Hamtramck and (2) the next generation Impala is Epsilon 2, not Zeta, and stays at Oshawa.
  3. I oppose eliminating any divisions. I support eliminating the overlap between Buick and Pontiac, which GM is already doing. Mostly the Wall Street and CNBC crowd, who wants GM to declare Chapter 11, eliminate the pension plan, slash the health care plan, and push the UAW out of business, is pushing for GM to cut brands.
  4. I posted this exact article yesterday here, but no one responded to it. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...870&#entry47870

    Buick's Popularity

The plant that builds the Lucerne is staying open - for now.
  6. That's a good idea. For most of the 1960's, all Lincoln had was the Continental sedan and convertible. The Town Car is what Lincoln is all about. There will always be 50,000 to 100,000 people who just want a big, luxurious comfortable sedan. Back to GM's bankruptcy. I don't think that Wagoner has it in him just to give up and do what Wall Street wants - which is go through Chapter 11, eliminate the pension plan, slash even more workers, plants, and the health care plan and cut everything except Chevrolet and Cadillac. An honorable man like him wants to keep pushing and fighting until there is no other option.
  7. Why would Toyota want GM? Why would Toyota want to deal with the UAW? If GM ever liquidates, I could see Toyota getting a factory or two, as long as the UAW wasn't part of the deal.
  8. Many consider Lincoln and Mercury just as weak as Pontiac and Buick, if not weaker.
  9. Even today, while having lunch at work, another employee told me that she was going to replace her 1992 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight with a Honda or Toyota truck or minivan. She said that the American cars just don't have the quality. She told me she goes by the ratings in Consumer Reports. She said that her neighbors had problem after problem with their new Avalanche. Nothing I told her could convince her the GM (and Ford) build good quality vehicles.
  10. I would like it less. The Solstice is the best looking Pontiac since the 1970 GTO. The big Pontiac grille is the best thing about it.
  11. Lucernes with 3800's are built for 80 year old Aunt Mildred. Everyone posting here should only be interested in Northstar Lucernes.
  12. You should just do a search on this site regarding all of the platforms. All have been discussed extensively.
  13. GMI is GM Inside News, a board similar, but inferior, to C&G. GMI doesn't have the good insiders or the good ideas and relatively calm discussions as there are here.
  14. I wish that the moderators would clean this thread up. How you go from discussing GM's plant closing to comparing Ford 500's to Asian mid size cars is beyond me. I hope that this site isn't going to end up like GMI.
  15. The Mustang is only 9 inches shorter than a Chrysler 300, and it is just about as wide. I don't think that a Camaro that is smaller than a Mustang would be very popular. Especially when most buyers would be overweight baby boomers.
  16. Hogans_Heroes, whom I consider the most accurate insider, even though he rarely posts, gave some good information that Buick will replace the LaCrosse. So there will at least be 2 cars. However, Buick will have to bring back a traditional big sedan like the Roadmaster to get my business.
  17. Hogans Heroes, who is even slightly better, says probably not.
  18. At my age, I do not sleep as long or as well as I did when I was your age.
  19. Edmunds is not a reliable source of information, but this would be a nice product for Buick. Making Buick the "junior Cadillac" division would be a good idea, in my opinion.
  20. In the 2010 - 2012 time frame, the W and G bodies will be dropped, and something will need to be produced at Oshawa and Detroit-Hamtramck, and new RWD cars (Zeta or Sigma-lite) are a possibility.
  21. No more redundant that Ford selling both the Freestyle and Explorer or Toyota selling both the Highlander and 4Runner. No credible person has said that GM has any plans to discontinue the regular wheelbase TrailBlazer and Envoy.
  22. Only the stretch versions are being dropped. They were almost as big as the Tahoe/Yukon, so they probably were redundant.
  23. Approximately four people here know. The rest of us will have to wait two or three years.
  24. I would assume it's going to the Cobalt plant or will be on hiatus, making the Aura and Sky the only cars for the 2007 model year. I did not think that the new small car would be ready by 2007. I did think about it, but I am trying to stop speculating so much.
  25. All of us, except for the insiders, will just have to wait two or three years for the answers to those questions.
