  1. Why? Pontiac went 30 years without a GTO. The name doesn't have to carry on.Most of us who are not insiders would be wiser to say, "I hope Pontiac will have a GTO soon after the Camaro debuts," instead of making it sound like a fact. Because it's not a fact. It's not even a fact that there will be a General Motors in North America in 2009.
  2. The Ford will probably be cheaper, and some people would prefer a normally aspirated V6 to a turbo 4 cylinder.
  3. Only because Ford can't afford to develop a modern large RWD platform.
  4. Here is a link to York's speech: http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...11/newsletter11 York wants to drop Saab and Hummer. Also, his favorite new GM cars are the Aura and the next Malibu.
  5. Evok is not being skeptical; he is being factual. And when did Lutz say that GTO is here to stay? Everything I read indicates that 2006 is the final year.
  6. Evok is not giving you his opinion; he is giving you the facts based upon the best available information. I have been following him and AH-HA for about six years now, and they deserve all of our respect.
  7. I was born when Lyndon Johnson was president, just days before the Mustang was introduced.
  8. I think that this may compete with the higher end Lucernes, priced in the $38,000 to $45,000 range, while the larger Lincoln sedan coming later will be in the $42,000 to $50,000 range.
  9. This will probably be quite a heavy vehicle; considering that the Ford Edge is almost 4,100 lbs, I bet this will be at least 4,500 lbs. I don't think it will be particularly fast with than the 3.6. I notice that the Enclave will be 4.5 inches wider than the Freestyle, 3.2 inches wider than the Edge, and 7.6 inches wider than the Equinox. It will be almost 11 inches taller than the Freestyle, 4 inches taller than the Edge, and about 1.7 inches taller than the Equinox. It's only 1.6 inches longer than the Freestyle. I hope it's successful. I wonder how non-GM fans will judge it.

    Buicks Future

I think the real flagship will be the next generation Lucerne.
  11. Compared to the Freestyle, I notice that the Edge is shorter (185.7 vs 200.7), taller (67 vs 60.1), and heavier (4098 vs. 3649). No wonder I don't see that the Edge will offer the Fusions's 4 cylinder engine. I like the Freestyle better myself, although it needs the 3.5. Compared to the Edge, the Equinox is longer (188.8 vs 185), taller (69.3 vs 67), and lighter (3668 vs 4098). The Edge appears to be a very stout little crossover.

    07 Yaris

The Yaris gets 34/40 with the manual and 34/39 with the automatic. The Corolla gets 32/41 with the manual and 30/38 with the automatic. I don't why know why Healey said that the Corolla gets better gas mileage. Except for highway mileage with the manual, the Yaris is more efficient than the Corolla.

    .....

4 cylinder engines help offset the gas guzzling Hemis a little bit for truck CAFE purposes.
  14. I think that union legacy costs are one of the major problems. GM could more easily solve a lot of other problems if it weren't for the pension and health care costs.
  15. I hope that Zeta will be as flexible as Nissan's RWD platform that is used for the 350Z, FX35/45, M35/45, and G35, so that Camaro fans won't be disappointed with a 200 inch long, 4000 lb car.
  16. Can GM afford to develop two RWD platforms that aren't too different in size? (Not to mention the Sigma.) Most of the other auto makers seem to develop a wide variety of vehicles off just one platform.
  17. I like big fast coupes, so I have no problem with size of this car. I won't be surprised if the Camaro ends up being not much smaller than this.
  18. You are absolutely correct, as you are 95 percent of the time.
  19. Until GM makes some announcements, there really is nothing more to say about the 2008 Malibu as well as any future RWD cars.
  20. All of you know that Edmunds is rarely accurate, so it is premature to get upset about Lambda engines. I personally would have no problems using the 3.9 and 5.3 in the Lambdas.
  21. I love these cars. I know they are outdated, and I doubt that they will be around for more than 5 more years, but these Panthers are my favorite cars now, since GM dropped the B body.
  22. It would be nice if Toyota put the 2.4L 4 cylinder from the Camry and Scion tC in the Vibe, but then it wouldn't get 30 mpg in the city anymore.
  23. You are correct that the Democrats can only win with a moderate like Warner, but your views towards middle America are alarming.
  24. Giuliani is pro-choice and liberal on most social issues and would never win the Republican primaries, except for perhaps in the Northeast. McCain is almost as conservative as Bush, but doesn't talk like a hick and likes the media, which is why many view him as a moderate. You are right that Hillary is leading the Democratic polls.
