Press Release is on Page 2 All-New CTS Sedan Ascends into Midsize Luxury Segment More than 20 new features come standard with all-new model launching this fall DETROIT – When the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan arrives in dealerships this fall, it will offer more interior space, power and technology with more than 20 new standard features compared with the current model. Inside and out, the third-generation CTS sedan grows, ascending into the heart of the midsize luxury market, with an all-new design that is longer, lower and leaner. The new CTS is five inches longer, expanding interior space, but also 244 pounds lighter than the previous model. It is expected to be the lightest car in its segment. “CTS has always been Cadillac’s centerpiece, and as our brand expands and elevates the car properly grows to its true place” said David Leone, CTS executive chief engineer. “With last year’s addition of the award-winning ATS compact luxury sedan, CTS will directly challenge the luxury midsize competition with uncompromised performance, luxury and technology.” The 2014 CTS standard model will start at $46,025, including $925 destination. Three Collections of option packages – Luxury, Performance and Premium – will be offered with either the 2.0T turbocharged four cylinder or 3.6L naturally aspirated V6 engine in either rear- or all-wheel drive. CTS will be offered with a choice of three powertrains, including a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 272 horsepower and goes from zero to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds – 1.5 seconds faster than the outgoing model. Standard front Brembo brakes with ferritic-nitro carburizing, or FNC, anti-corrosion rotors give CTS braking performance that Cadillac expects to be best in the segment. Magnetic Ride Control, the world’s fastest-reacting suspension and a hallmark of V-Series models, is now standard on base models with 18-inch wheels. Selectable drive modes will allow drivers to adjust the vehicle’s performance dynamics for touring, ice and snow, or sport driving. The CTS Vsport model features the new Cadillac Twin-Turbo 3.6L V6 engine with an SAE-certified 420 horsepower and a “track” drive mode with specific Magnetic Ride Control calibration and enhanced throttle progression for greater track performance. The Vsport model contains the highest-performing components, led by the all-new Twin Turbo V6. The CTS Vsport model starts at $59,995, including $925 destination, and comes equipped with an electronic limited slip differential and eight-speed automatic transmission in RWD only. Inside, all CTS models are equipped with CUE, Cadillac’s breakthrough system for connectivity and control featuring an eight-inch fully reconfigurable touch screen. CUE brings tablet-like functionality into the CTS with functions such as haptic feedback to confirm selections, proximity sensing to reveal hidden icons, gesture recognition and capacitive touch. A 5.7-inch display in the instrument cluster allows the driver to control radio, phone and navigation functions through steering wheel controls without having to take his eyes off the road. CTS will come with an 11-speaker Bose premium audio system with HD radio capability. Users will have several options for streaming portable media devices with three USB ports and one auxiliary and SD card port. View full article

  3. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 13, 2013 Buick has a small crossover in the form of the Encore and large crossover with the Enclave. However someone who is looking for something in the middle with a Buick badge will be sorely disappointed. That looks to be changing as new spy shots show a new midsize Buick crossover. Supposedly called the Anthem, this new Buick crossover will be the sister vehicle to the next-generation Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. The trio will use utlize GM's Delta platform. We can't tell much from the shots aside the Buick waterfall grille and the driver giving the ole one finger salute. We'll be keeping an eye on this new Buick crossover. 5. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 13, 2013 At one time, the term 'luxury pickup truck' was an oxymoron. But now, automakers are churning them out like they're not going out of style. Ford has three different luxury versions of the F-150 (King Ranch, Platinum, Limited), General Motors has the GMC Sierra Denali and Chevrolet Silverado High Country, and Ram has the Laramie Longhorn and Laramie Limted. However, Ram CEO Reid Bigland believes there is more room for a more posh truck. “I don’t even know where the ceiling is on the premium pickup truck,” Bigland said to reporters this week. For those wondering, the Ram Laramie Longhorn models start at $44,585 for the 1500 and goes upward from there. “We don’t even know if that’s the ceiling or if we should go above that,” Bigland said. Bigland didn't go into details of what a super-premium pickup would look like, but noted Ram would have to be careful the add-ons weren’t “frivolous.” Source: Automobile Magazine William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gears. 7. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 12, 2013 The next Ford F-150 has been caught playing around in the rain this week. Judging from the amount of camouflage on this mule, we're guessing Ford has decided on a final design. The overall shape seems similar to the Atlas concept shown at this year's Detroit Auto Show. We can tell the three-bar grille will remain and there is a set of distinctive headlights. Other than that, what we know about the F-150 can be filed under speculation. We hear that the next F-150 could be using more aluminum, have a hybrid powertrain thanks to partnership with Toyota, and a number of other rumors. 9. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 12, 2013 A U.S. District court judge has dismissed the $3 billion lawsuit filed by Spyker on behalf of Saab against General Motors last August. The suit alleged GM blocked the sale of Saab's assets to Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile Co and eliminate a potential rival in the growing Chinese market. "General Motors had a contractual right to approve or disapprove the proposed transaction. The court is going to grant the motion to dismiss the matter," said U.S. District Court Judge Gershwin Drain during a hearing in Detroit. Judge Drain said GM acted legally in order to protect its intellectual property and that it did not stop the deal to intentionally drive Saab into bankruptcy. "We are pleased with the court's decision to dismiss the case, which we believe was the appropriate result," said GM spokesman Dave Roman to Reuters. Spyker CEO Victor Muller who was at the hearing declined to comment on whether or not they would file an appeal. "We will be awaiting the written order and then we will assess," Muller said.
