“You have to shoot me first.” That was the response of Ferrari Chairman (and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO) Sergio Marchionne last year when asked if Ferrari would ever do an SUV. But it seems Ferrari is working on one according to a report from Car. The model - codenamed F16X is expected to be paired up with the replacement for the GT4C, due out in 2020. That means it will feature aluminum architecture and all-wheel drive. F16X will set itself apart from the GT4C by having a higher ride height, feature a four-door coupe body with rear suicide doors, and utilize V8 and hybrid powertrains. The mule caught in Spain may look like your standard Bentayga, but it features fuel doors on both rear fenders. Land Rover is considering building a halo model for their Range Rover lineup to give the Bentley Bentayga some competition. "Why not? We've realized that the Range Rover has got this big expanse across its price range, so it's not a very big step to get into Bentayga country," said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover's design chief to Automotive News Europe. McGovern said that a Range Rover competitor to the Bentayga would have the edge as they have been doing the luxury SUV for much longer. "Bentley doesn't have the pedigree and authenticity in that particular sector. We've got unquestionable pedigree." McGovern went on to say that he would like to see the Range Rover family expand. Currently, there are four models in the lineup - Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque, and the upcoming Velar. The plans for expansion could cause some overlap, but McGovern doesn't see a problem with this. Rolls-Royce isn't planning to do a hybrid powertrain for any of their models anytime soon. Speaking with Autocar, CEO Torsten Müller-Otvös said customers would not accept the “compromise” of hybrid technology. “The Rolls-Royce brand is not, in a way, a game-changer when it comes to revolutionary technology. Our customers are doing so for reasons of utmost luxury, so there can be no imperfections. Compromises when it comes to technology, or operating our products, are unacceptable. People are more interested in highly reliably substance than to be a test field for new technology.” Instead, Rolls will focus on electric powertrains. “Electrification is the way forward – and there will be no in between steps for us like hybridisation. It is the propulsion system for the future, make no error. There is a time - nobody can predict when - when there will be no combustion engines. That will take a long, long time, but it will happen,” said Müller-Otvös. But don't expect it to come anytime soon. The Honda Civic Type R is only available with a six-speed manual which limits the possible group of buyers. But according to CarAdvice, Honda was considering an automatic option of some sort for the Type R. Yuji Matsumochi, assistant large project leader for the 10th-generation Civic's powertrain told the Australian outlet that the Japanese automaker was looking at offering either a conventional automatic or a dual-clutch transmission to broaden the appeal for buyers. But the decision was made to only offer a manual due to weight concerns. “The Type R needs a lightweight powertrain because it is front-wheel-drive, and needs lightweight powertrain systems. So, the engine is a little bit heavy, so the transmission side needs to be more lightweight,” said Matsumochi. “If we applied an automatic transmission, or dual-clutch transmission, for a 400Nm engine, it would be very heavy weight, and very big. Volvo made a stunning announcement this morning as it plans to equip all of their vehicles with an electric motor beginning in 2019. “This announcement marks the end of the solely combustion engine-powered car. Volvo Cars has stated that it plans to have sold a total of 1 million electrified cars by 2025. When we said it we meant it. This is how we are going to do it,” said Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson in a statement. Volvo is planning to launch five EVs between 2019 and 2021 - two of those coming from Polestar . They'll be complemented by a range of mild-hybrid with 48-volt electric systems and plug-in hybrid models. “This is about the customer. People increasingly demand electrified cars and we want to respond to our customers’ current and future needs. You can now pick and choose whichever electrified Volvo you wish,” said Samuelsson. Full details of these models will be announced at a later date. Volvo made a stunning announcement this morning as it plans to equip all of their vehicles with an electric motor beginning in 2019. “This announcement marks the end of the solely combustion engine-powered car. Volvo Cars has stated that it plans to have sold a total of 1 million electrified cars by 2025. When we said it we meant it. This is how we are going to do it,” said Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson in a statement. Volvo is planning to launch five EVs between 2019 and 2021 - two of those coming from Polestar . They'll be complemented by a range of mild-hybrid with 48-volt electric systems and plug-in hybrid models. “This is about the customer. People increasingly demand electrified cars and we want to respond to our customers’ current and future needs. You can now pick and choose whichever electrified Volvo you wish,” said Samuelsson. Full details of these models will be announced at a later date. These five cars will be supplemented by a range of petrol and diesel plug in hybrid and mild hybrid 48 volt options on all models, representing one of the broadest electrified car offerings of any car maker. MITSUBISHI MOTORS REPORTS JUNE 2017 SALES Outlander continues its strong sales with June up 16.2 percent Mirage reported its best June sales month since 2001 Calendar year-to-date sales of 54,576 are up 5.1 percent Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) reported June 2017 sales of 7,625, down 5.0 percent over June 2016. The Outlander CUV led the way for the brand with its best June sales month since 2007. Total Outlander sales were 2,313 an increase of 16.2 percent over last June. Mirage sales were up 12.8 percent with total sales of 1,739, its best June since 2001. Mercedes-Benz USA Reports Best-Ever June Sales Of 28,994 Jul 3, 2017 – ATLANTA Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported best-ever June sales of 28,994 units, an increase of 1.8%, closing out the second-quarter at 161,960 year-to-date. Mercedes-Benz Vans also reported best-ever June sales with 3,108 units and smart reported 226 units, bringing the MBUSA grand total to 32,328 vehicles for the month, up 1.1% from last year. "June was a great month for both passenger cars and Vans," said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. "We are in a good position for a strong second half of the year, particularly with exciting products that will fill the pipeline like the E-Class Coupe, E-Class Cabriolet, S-Class Sedan and new AMG models." Mercedes-Benz volume leaders in June included the C-Class, GLE and E-Class (including the CLS) model lines. The C-Class took the lead at 7,116, followed by GLE sales of 4,824. The E- Class rounded out the top three with 4,316 units sold. Mercedes-AMG high-performance models sold 2,711 units in June, with a total 17,030 sold year-to-date (up 55.6%). Separately, Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) models recorded sales of 8,954 vehicles in June, a decrease of 7.2% when compared to the same month last year (9,646). On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 60,193 vehicles, a decrease of 0.3% over 2016 (60,346).

BMW Group U.S. Reports June 2017 Sales BMW brand sales increase 0.4 percent MINI brand sales decrease 10.3 percent Woodcliff Lake, NJ – July 3, 2017… Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 0.4 percent in June for a total of 28,962 compared to 28,855 vehicles sold in June 2016. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is down 2.8 percent in the U.S. on sales of 149,086 vehicles compared to 153,436 sold in the first six months of 2016. Mazda Reports June Sales Mazda CX-5 Posts Record Sales Month for Third Month in a Row IRVINE, Calif., July 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported June U.S. sales of 22,342 vehicles, representing a decrease of 14.7 percent versus June of last year. Year-to-date sales through June are down 2.6 percent versus last year, with 141,624 vehicles sold.
