  1. i understand that argument. and after vishera(piledriver FX) amd won't have highend only CPUs for the consumer. most of programs right now use 2 threads, some do use 3-4, and that's where gamers/highER end would go with an i5, true quadcore. when intel can actually get ahead of amd in graphics, and not just because of a manufacturing node advantage, then AMD will be sunk on the C(entral)PU, and consumers will cry. (except intel fanbois) the "APU" evolution does seem to have caused intel to slowly turn their boat. is maxwell(?) does indeed 2x the performance of IB, then intel wil have something to combat their weakness to amd with... for the time being. you do know "bulldozer" can keep up with SB, almost (i think), in video rendering, right? as programs are coded to the design, it will shine... sometimes trying to jump ahead does make one falter, on purpose, or accidentally.
  2. bulldozer was slow in single threaded performance, a comparison at toms hardware(i think) showed that trinity, at least in converting music to aac/mp3, was ~15% faster than BD, at the same speed, and w/o L3 cache. so yes, S.T. performance should be pretty good. trinity's platform should have an upgrade path for next year, while "vishera"(FX83xx) will be the last of the am3+ platform. unless you're playing games at U.H.rezs or video encoding and such, the highest end chips aren't that much more useful for 90+% of the consumers, right? ..unless the NG consoles change something..... don't forget that "BD+" has a fuller instruction set, in some ways than, intel has, at least on I.B.
  3. the chevy faced vue x-over... captiva? idk. drove past it too quickly to remember to check the license plate...
  4. anyone excited for this? think the laptop models are selling well, it'd be great for a htpc. hopefully the 4/6/8 models do well against sandy bridge spec intels, at least for similar price points. anyone else keeping up with this? release for desktop trinity is supposed to be oct 2nd, and "vishera", like a week or 2 after that.
  5. can't disagree one bit.
  6. can't disagree with the EPA numbers if they hold up. congrats honda. 30 hp deficit from the gm 3.6... but that's not even 10% . is this the work of ivtec?
  7. this is the engine that has more than 1 injector/port, right? it is at least interesting and a step forward for tryign different things actualyl in the market in a mainstream car.
  8. Happy birthday, a few days late.
  9. it could be that expensive, but only in the US Venezuela's gas is what, like 0.50/gallon?
  10. land grants, meaning from the gov? why does the federal gov have land inside states(or out)? the louisiana purchase was made w/o legality, it was just "in the best interest". so i say, where's the law that allows the US gov to own land outside of the states in the union?

  12. maybe the oil embargo was one of the "big hits" of why we are where we are.... brenton woods failing,, viet nam sky lab failing, challenger, we have lost that invincible spirit, hopefulyl for the better, though it hasn't changed in our military policy, though i wish reality would catch up there.
  13. those ballsy cars are the ones that were powered by leaded gasoline, back when we landed on the moon, back when the civil rights movement was still looked down upon by many in this country, where you couldn't go to any restaurant you wanted. when being old world christian(catholic) didn't keep someone from being the first president to be one. when you could pollute rivers with trash on the city level and not raise many eyebrows(polluting federal property). ...of a time of brenton woods monetary policy (partial gold standard). You are complaining about the culture now, and wishing for products/culture of the past, right? so where's the source of this difference? is it grassroots based, or is it top down differences? you are more free than your son's friend in some ways, you can't get in trouble for buying beer or cigarettes. because you agreed to certain contracts you have a job, you have a house, you have the payments for those (house and car). your son's friend prolly doesn't have the capabilities to take on such debt and responsibilities like you can. you speak of jefferson, he knew how much trade with other nations was productive for each, like the tobacco trade that France had a stranglehold on(inside the country) through their trade policy that was still very mercantilistic. 200 years of legal precedent... that's a very dangerous simple explanation. that only gives reason to not change it, like slavery... or the death penalty, or many other controversial subjects. but for rail development, the huge push early in our history was for war, so in someways we are keeping alive that memory, not just in history books, not just in reenactments, but in policy. i can find out a name of a rail company that succeeded w/o gov help, not sure of it's status now(w/o research) but saying that only gov can succeed(or subsidize) in these ventures, is just childish.
  14. Only if you think the gov is supposed to be an investor, ....and where is that clause for that power in the Law? general welfare doesn't cover it cause it's not in the powers of any branch. the preamble only provides direction, not any powers.
  15. Horse, it's not really the funding part, it's how they get the money, and if they have the authority to do that. if the feds had the authority to build the interstate, why didn't that happen during the depression instead of after ww2? if interstates are such a good idea for gov to build, why did the first part of what became the autobahn get built by private funding? what's the car that was on top gear that they replaced w/ a BMW when it's supposed to run on a dirt road inside of an animal race track, and the driver gets beat to hell, because of how it's designed to drive on pavement. but you're dragging us away from talking about if fisker can/should get $150M to continue their venture in producing sexy, expensive, niche cars.................... to extend our reliance on ... what, mostly coal by % of electricity produced nation wide currently
  16. are you commenting on my post, or the OP? isn't gov intervention GREAT?! i mean, chry co wouldn't "exist" because of the 80's, and now GM wouldn't "exist" cause of a few years ago, the automotive world would be pushed back to the days of no crash testing, parts would fall of cars willy nilly, Leaded gasoline would foul our air, water, and food.... ../s
  17. of all the the subsidies the gov has paid.... why not this, but yes to solyndra...and this is CHEAPER!!! ugh.
  18. i checked the battery with a multi. resting V was ~10.5. think we found the culprit.. with starting V dropping ALOT. but still intermittently starting. just very weird.
  19. good tip, i'll check that out. the pump is accessible under the back seat is what i've found on the net... i should check for the sound of it running while in "run" too by listening for it in the back, right?
  20. 05 model a friend's car.. she called me said it took ~3 times for it to start, seemed like low battery at first... i didn't have a multi meter with me so i don't know about the battery, yet. a quick internet search gave me this http://www.justanswer.com/car/3a6od-2005-mazda-6-turn-no-start-3-4-tank-fuel.html fuel pump problems are common on the 6...?
  21. Happy birthday Guys!!!

  23. about the tC - a niche car getting out of it's niche requires something...."un-scion" and more "toyota". before the subaru-scion the tc was the best looking one, though i've ridden in an xB... comfortable for me being 6'2.. any seat you have plenty of leg room. be interesting how sporty the forte will be., looks decent.
  24. Bugati's 4 cyl. nothing, it didn't have moar power!
