Holden Commodore Again Rumored to Come Here, Should it?
Croc replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in Heritage Marques
Yeah, and then when the Commodore gets here we can make jokes about how its platform used to be fat. -
I don't much care for insomnia.

Third Time's The Charm? Cadillac Returns To Europe
Croc replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
I actually think Cadillac will need more than diesels and Art & Science styling to make it here: no decontenting like the BMW's 116d model where they charge 250EUR for front foglights. Better to crush their margins and offer full content models than to decontent their cars, IMHO. And wait some 30 years for the brand perception/awareness/image to be built. Agreed. Decontenting is never the answer, especially in the luxury market. If anything, GM just needs to invest in Europe. And the thing is, with the recent bankruptcy proceedings and the issues with the factories and workers in Europe, I think it's just way too soon to start expanding there again. GM needs to regain the trust of the EU people before offering class-leading luxury cars there. -
Wow I haven't heard that Foggy song since one of my friends used to work at Abercrombie & Fitch in 2004.

No, GM is a fool for producing it as a Cadillac XTS and not a Buick Electra. K. Cadillac will just sell CTSes and SRXes for the next 3 years while it spends time granting your wish.... seeing as the STS and DTS go out of production like.... now. You have really gone off the deep end over the XTS. This is just so comical at this point I feel like it needs to become our running joke.

Third Time's The Charm? Cadillac Returns To Europe
Croc replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Oh no doubt there. The EU has ridiculously high taxes on fuel. Their collective public policies favor transit. Their cities were built around transit. -
Because no one was ever buying Civics, Corollas, Sentras, 3ers, MINI Coopers, Golfs, or anything like that at all, right? Like, who wants a Fiesta? So small and cramped, especially when you can get a truck like a Colorado, right? GM didn't give the customers what they wanted, they pandered to the market they saw the most profits in at the expense of almost every other segment, and now that consumer preferences have changed, they're kind of scrambling and having to prove themselves because of all the throwaway crap they made in those segments before. GM has no problem selling good cars, regardless of size. But if all you're making are Cavaliers and Sunfires, yea your customers aren't gonna want that. Your phaser gun cannot harm me. I traded my Colorado for various reasons, NONE OF WHICH had to do with CAFE regulations. Besides, the Fiesta has been great fun. If you study the tao of ocn, you will see a precedent for my vacillation between truck and small fun car extends back to 1992 (you were prolly still swimmin' around in dad's scrotum) when I bought my Golf II GL 2-door hatchback in light green metallic. You're proving my point. All I'm telling you is that there are plenty of people, yourself included, who buy small cars on their own volition for logical and/or emotional reasons that have nothing to do with CAFE or anything like that. GM previously ignored, neglected and abused those customers, and as a result they have a CAFE balance that doesn't allow them the freedom that other manufacturers have. They have to prove themselves in smaller segments, segments where no one questions whether or not the Honda Civic is a good vehicle because it's utterly owned that segment for 20 years.

All the mainstream bike manufacturers (Schwinn included) all make the same bikes from the same parts from the same suppliers. I don't think they're quite the no-brainer choice anymore, which I think is too bad. EDIT: Micargi is apparently based in China, so if that sways your opinion, fine...I do know people who have been very satisfied with them, though.

When models anticipated climate events years and months ago that happened, for example, yesterday, well that's validating the future predictive ability of the existing models. -
I hate CSI Miami (which this is making fun of), but enjoy the original, and don't mind occasionally watching NY. but yeah, the character these jokes are making fun of is just a giant slice of CHEESE. Even the original one was pretty cheesy. I remember when that came out and was super big back in 2003/2004 and we watched it in my high school biotechnology class. I remember it was the furries episode...and while watchable, it was cheesy. Horatio in "Miami" though is just........on a whole another level. Not watchable. And I also can't stand how "Miami" is filmed. I mean it looks NOTHING like Miami. It's clearly West LA filmed with a yellow filter...the real Miami is bright and blue and turquoise and flamingo pink with lots of deco. The original Miami Vice did a great job with this. West LA just looks nothing like the good old MIA and the yellow filter? Really? Maybe they're going for a "sunny" look but it doesn't convey the "vibrance" of the MIA. I'd almost bet the creators have never even been to Miami.

Exactly. EVERYONE knew Mitsubishi in the 90s because of the Eclipse. What do they make now? Off the top of my head, I don't know. Suzuki...all I know they make is the Kizashi, and that's only because reg shills it all over the site. Otherwise, I'd never have known about it. It actually looks good.

But were you listening to Aston Martin music??

Micargi makes some pretty good bikes. I really like their designs, especially the retro beach cruisers. They have fixies, but I saw a 7-speed on their site, too.

No, I'm not an "authority," I'm just informed. The science (notice the lack of quotation marks) also isn't contradictory in the least--there are large-scale weather changes happening across the globe with stronger, more violent, more extreme weather. And it coincides pretty well with the imbalance in atmospheric carbon resulting from the industrial revolution. And the best proof that this is correlation and not just coincidence is that the models are accurately making predictions of the future. -
They don't have any use for Maggie Daniels. Honestly? I don't really care.
