  1. I wonder what the answers would be today....
  2. You think he affected Ford and Chrysler too?
  3. Look at it as if one of these would have trickled over into every other issue and made most of what Detroit sold us back then desirable to this day and kept the reputation at a higher level. ETN: Look at the "not building Euro/AUS models for N. America" option to also reflect North American models being so extremely different from Europe and Australian-market GM, Fords, and Chryslers.
  4. Sounds like the best preventative option. Heard a lot of revenge options. But only one catch-them-in-the-act option, and it sounds like some real detective work.
  5. Looks like G8 is the popular choice. Because that's my new car also. '69 GP for the oldie-but-goodie.
  6. Maybe they should have more Goya commercials.
  7. That was kind of my point. That more than right-leaning white males post here. People seem to have forgotten that.
  8. Well, I said it, time to show and prove... Jaguar XJ-S: BMW 750iL:
  9. Price and gas no object-G8 GXP (or any G8, because it's a Pontiac), with a CTS of any kind a close second. More practical choices are Malibu and HHR (either with a stick!!).
  10. From stories I've heard, all of the above have been knicked. I find that sort of thing disrespectful. No matter what it was, I'd ask around the job to make sure it open game, and that's IF I really wanted it. Some chips or bagels or a 2-liter or gallon of drink is one thing....but a sandwich? Someone's home cooking? Even a TV dinner? That's just not right.
  11. Once upon a time...people felt the same way about cars many of you would sacrifice a newborn child to have back. But I'm not gonna argue anymore. You guys are set in how you feel.
  12. Nice class assessment there, pal. It's because there's TV ratings to fish for and newspapers to sell. Foul things have been happening forever. Those "simpler times" of lore, for instance, weren't simple for everyone. One crime has simply been traded for another. Oh wow. That's good that you're telling us how you really feel. And it's only gettin' better in this thread.... Of course the fire-and-brimstone, gung-ho righties would come out to play and draw the line in the sand on this one. Because the so-called conservatives know best. Disclaimer: Should murderers, rapists, pedophiles, white-collar criminals, and such get their just desserts? Absolutely. My point is....is anybody reading the same thing I'm reading here? You guys are waaaaaay too comfortable spitting this kinda of stuff. All of those views are related, subsets of the same family of mentalities. I would think I was reading stormfront.org if I didn't know any better. I've held my tongue on a whole lot as long as I've been here because I didn't want to make trouble and end up getting treated differently or banned. This might be why not many people post. Real talk, something has to give around here.
  13. Because that is one foul thing to do, one is busy working, and another thinks that lunch that person brought is fair game to take from the fridge and eat or take home. What kind of people think this is cool? What is their motivation? This disgusts me big time, since those types never own up to it. What are your stories, and what have you or another person done about it?
  14. Ford Granada: Now here's a car I find irredeemable. Rear-drive and sometimes a V-8 be damned, it just has brutal styling that isn't brought out by much of anything, possibly not even lowering....
  15. Nissan Cedric/Gloria (basically just like how American standards had numerous names):
  16. Well, the general point of the thread was that one man's junk is the next man's treasure. That there is a world of cars one can see value in beyond musclecars, exotics, and 50s finmobiles. There's a lot of there there in plenty of cars from the 70s to today. It's not the end of the world if you don't have the V-8 or turbo model nor should you feel bad that you drive a Celebrity instead of a Chevelle or Caprice. There's room for creative challenges out there. Keeps the planet interesting. Also, I don't think any car, no matter how much one likes or dislikes it should disappear from the face of the earth completely. It's part of our history.
  17. The mighty 3.8 twin screw gets around...even to Berettas!:
  18. We talk about the 88 Fiero GT all the time....now to make a case for other models: The best case of all: 4.9 Caddy V-8 swapped in to an old crummy Tech-IV car!: Anyway, a few others: Blown 3.8 in this one: As well as this one: But what the hell, here's a couple of 88 GTs for good measure: I almost forgot how beautiful Fieros really were.
  19. While I agree, I thought the issue with premium Euros was more the parts being expensive than the labor.
  20. Actually, it was based on the Senator, rear-drive and much larger (E-segment, executive car class, our premium mid-size): You're thinking of the Ascona: In the size case of that car (which WAS a J-car) and general style, we were well catered to by Cavalier, Sunbird and co. However, in Brazil, there was a J-car Chevy Monza (this one with a Camira-style front end): And in South Africa, the Monza name was on an Astra/Kadett:
  21. Honda Ascot:
  22. Well, yeah, the point is to reflect the public at large, who really hasn't seen or heard much of what came beyond North America. And the Diamante did not have THAT greenhouse (later Magnas do look like what was imported here) Moving right along....we know of the Chevy Monza, but how about the Opel Monza?: ^^^This could have been federalized as a game changing Pontiac or Buick T-Type IMO. Sure would have beaten the 6000 or Century. More to come, this is a developing thread....
  23. Cadillac Seville:
  24. Brazil's Opala-based sports "exotic," the Santa Matilde:
  25. Maybe because it can be more than a crummy Tech-IV powered commuter car. I've always found the Celeb and Ciera to have nice lines (guess I can add the 6000 wagon), plus I've seen some folks put rims on them and set the car off. Anyway, moving on, how about some Cadillac Eldorado?: ^^^A Northstar swap into that body would be quite effective^^^
