I know. And the difference in perspectives here is becoming painfully more obvious by the post.

Am I the only one that thought "Richard Wright? The dude that wrote Black Boy? Ain't he already dead?"

A 68 or 69 four-door Dodge Coronet, painted candy apple green (but otherwise stock, smh)

Let's just say we see this through different eyes. And I'm gonna continue to maintain that talk of things like politics and religion is simply not a place to go on a board that should stay humorous and fun. Trust, I have very strong views on those topics, and I could go real hard, but I also know better to understand this isn't the place for them, just like this isn't the place to talk our tastes in porn. I'm not here to polarize the climate. So, please, Croc. Relax. I'm here to have my opinion just like you are.

I wanna go in DEEP on some of you right now, but you're doing an extremely good job of showing how you really are, so I'm just gonna sit back and let you fall into the trap and hang yourselves. All I'm gonna say is this: With the fear and suspicion I hear in the people's thoughts these days, America is finished.

This month, I've seen stuff like the following: -International Scout -International Travelall -78-81 Malibu 4-dr. blacked out, nice and racy looking -Ferrari Mondial on the freeway this afternoon -chopped Mercury, probably 50 or 51 -61/62ish full-size Mercury

The partisan gang-banging in here speaks volumes.

The GTO's either a pursuit or special appearance car (for stuff like going to schools or festivals) The Lambo looks like a proposal for a new Transformer.

Keep in mind they use annnnnything in England. Regardless of country of origin too. Not like America, where you generally must see something "durable" and it also better be an American brand. So you won't see Corolla patrol cars or Civic coupes for pursuit. CHP were testing a Volvo 850 Turbo in the 90s, however. Was quite cool to see those sedans painted black and white and equipped.

Current phone and the previous one were set to a regular ring that sounds like something you'd hear in an office, only twice as often. I can only remember my way back in '02 phone having a "cute" tone, the reveille (sic). I'm simply not into the RAINGTONE thing, as I'm soured by so many obnoxious songs I've had to sit thru young ones having on theirs so they can bump gums with their little friends.

Nice to see different cars in the sea of Vickys we've been subject to the past 15 years across America.

Closing out August, since it's time to move on: -55ish Buick, very cleanly done. Best-in-show quality chrome placed atop a burgundy and rust orange paint job. -last gen Supra (hey, they've been rare for quite some time!) -some Falcons and Fairlanes here and there -orange G8 Forgot all about that Marauder I saw.
-
Speaking of Alfas, saw a Milano on th freeway last night being followed by what I figured was an Alfa Giulia, but may have been a Fiat or Lancia, definitely a 70s Italian sedan (looks like a Datsun 510 with an upright rear-quarter pillar).

Its reputation (and fate) are sealed.

I'm more concerned that topics that belong elsewhere in this forum go elsewhere in this forum.

I've seen a lot that I haven't seen in a while (or was interesting) today: -one of those 89-90 2-dr. Tercels -a postwar car, looked like a choptop 49 Mercury, but bigger. -Dodge Dart 4-door, about a 74 -A5 GTI, dropped onto mesh wheels tucked under the fender, very racy. -Galaxie 500 convertible -2+2 240Z -66sh Caddy convertible -72ish Sedan deVille -64 Grand Prix

If (insert Asian brand here) did (insert wish here) I'd buy one....

Well, black folks are in high places at the the Detroit three (see Ed Welburn), that's different... I mean if African countries started up new brands... and I don't mean South Africa. Like if there was a Kenyan company that built a car called a Marathon. Probably would have major range. Or if the Nigerians built a car called a 419. Claimed it was really fast and exotic, but would have consumers afraid it was a ripoff. Anyway, tacky jokes aside, it would be nice to see African industry go in such a direction. Especially keeping in mind that a lot of extremely highly educated people call the continent home. Moving on from that rant and back to Asians... If the Indians built a very peppy and sporty Mini-competitor, and it was some kinda crazy setup like a flex-diesel twincharged hybrid* (I feel like I'm 9 typing this, but) I'd have to test drive such a torquey, miserly beast. Why aim for Mini? Well, India is a British-influenced country with a need for fairly small cars. And no disrespect to the Indians, but for a country to pride itself on education and have its student often lean towards engineering, it should be their duty to come up with the cooler things in life!! *Imagine the weird noise a car like that would make. Wouldn't know whether to be quiet, klackety klack, or whine like crazy. -

The two seem easily blurred here at times. Like brands are hated on simply because they're Asian. While many European brands that aren't exactly much better or the friend of fans of American cars seem to be cut much slack by comparison. Some people expressing WWII- and communism-based views about some cars as if the Asians can't make anything worth driving. Trust, I don't care for the current Toyota or Honda or the culture in the U.S. that feels neither can do wrong either. But some of these posts are clearly sending a message based on something completely different. I'd hate to see what kinda views would be shot off if an African car company existed. -

Sometimes I wonder if we on this site like to find backdoor ways to express anti-Asian sentiment. -

Infiniti's got it covered, except having a 4-cylinder car. To me, however, if Toyota had a Supra, and Honda had a Prelude, both built to compete head to head with Camaro and Mustang (even if Prelude didn't have a V-8 and was an SH-AWD car instead of rear-drive), both would have to be on the list. Also, If Mazda did a rotary sedan (or 5-door or wagon) about the size of the 6 or smaller, that would be automotive sexual chocolate. -
Well, if it's just one or two, up until they're 9, it's no big deal...when they turn ten or three enter the picture is what I'm thinking about. As of now, I'm at least good to go clear to 2020, lol.

Currently, I don't drive ppl around (seemed I had to drive the whole damn planet around from 93-02). I'd be just fine with a 2-door at this point. But I have no real preference as far as number of doors. All the car needs to be is a looker and performer. When I have kids, all bets are off.

I feel like I'm in the Bizarro World right now.

Caught a Vega wagon out there.
