Nissan Delays Next Titan Till 2014

Development of the next generation Nissan Titan has been rough. Back in 2008, Nissan wanted to partner with Chrysler on developing the next Titan. That would have meant the next Titan and Ram would share many parts. However, when Chrysler went into bankruptcy in 2009, the plan was shelved and left Nissan to fend for itself.

Since then, Nissan has been hard at work on the next Titan, due out next year. But now, Nissan is saying it will be another year before we see it.

"We will come out a little later now. I made the decision," said Andy Palmer, Nissan Motor Co.'s executive vice president for vehicle planning and program management.

The reason is due to March’s earthquake that rocked Japan and caused Nissan's supply chain and production to be hindered. To get lines back up and running, Nissan sent out teams of engineers and resources which caused development of Titan to be pushed back.

They can delay it indefinitely if you ask me... I think they need a Li'l Hustler revival below the Frontier first, esp with these crazed, foaming CAFE standards looming, but also because the Titan has been a POS.

    • We'll see if Toyota is first, Mercedes already has solid state on the road in prototype form.  I would imagine they want that ready for the next generation S-class EV that replaces the EQS.  And usually the S-class gets the technology first.  E-class EV is due out in 2027, I don't know if they would be ready that fast, and even if so, is this expensive tech that starts on S-class and 10 years later ends up on a regular car. From their media release: Safer, lighter, more efficient and 25 percent longer range in the first vehicle: solid-state cell chemistry delivers higher energy density and weight reduction, with improved driving efficiency and cell safety  Mercedes-Benz, together with Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) based in Brixworth UK, developed and patented new innovative solid-state battery pack  Mercedes-Benz integrated solid-state battery, with cells from U.S.-based solid-state battery leader Factorial Energy, into slightly modified EQS Sedan  Road tests with new solid-state battery in "621 mile" EQS development car started in February 2025
