Q: "Would You Like to Purchase a 'Bunny'?"

Okay, listen up. I want all of you nose-heavy, bland-as-vanilla front-drivers outta here. Stat. And that means now. I don't need to list who you are.

And this thread? Fuggheddaboutit! You ain't seen noddin', cowboy!

...

Are all of them gone? Good. If you're still here, it means you are driving at least one or seriously considering a rear-drive vehicle and you are qualified as a possible member of Cheers & Gears "Rear-Drive Mafia." (That is a working name. Members will decide on if that stays or not.)

This is not a car club. This is not some smarchy-fartsy get-together. This is an organization.

There will be no candy and cake every Sunday. There will be no meetings. Hell, you don't have to even mention this if you want. If you're a member, you know who you are and what you must do: keep the simple religion of rear-drive afloat. Defend it. And keep Toyota off your shopping lists.

To sign up is simple: leave your name and what rear-drive car you drive in this thread. You'll be in. And after twenty-three members, that's it. We're not taking anymore members.

Capiche?

I think the Signature says it all! 8)

Rear-Drive Mafia sounds good to me.

I'd love to have the domain www.RWD.com for a blog, but it's taken.

I'm Stephen, aka DetroitNut

Toyota has never been on my family's shopping list and never will be

I drive a GMC Sonoma, sometimes an '81 Jaguar XJ6 w/a Chevy 350 V8

hope to own a RWD Impala some day

My name is Igor

I do drive a FWD, but well - can't afford a RWD at this point

I drive Mazda3 - the best FWD car under $30k

I despise Toyota

My RWD of choice - right now the 3-series (D'oh) but would much more prefer to give my bussiness to the Blue Oval if they finally get their act together - and the SWB Zetas are shaping up to be hot as well...

I'll admit, I'm confused. I like the 3. I'll let the boys decide on this one.

Whadda think, boys?

It says that i need to be "at least seriously considering" RWD....

and truth to be said, I am

First, Igor is a sweet name. Second, you want to keep the RWD tradition up and going. Third, he drives a nice car that is semi-American and has faith in GM's rear-drive Zeta.

Let him be one of us.

We do need someone to keep suspicion low.

Tell me what rear-drive car you're considering, and, well...you know the drill.

Let him be one of us.

Frank gave ya' the nod. You're concrete.

Igor2, does this look like fun?

LOL .. I would not do it in a truck (those things scare) but I would drift to no end if I could 8)

Actually - I did drive Expedition for 4 years - that should count :AH-HA_wink:

EDIT And I mean the real kind of drift, not the "handrake" one..

My name is Nick, and while I don't actually own a RWD vehicle, I am an avid RWD enthusiast and plan on my next car being RWD. My dad owns two Corvettes (a '68 and a '78), my grandpa owns a 2000 Crown Victoria LX and a 2005 Grand Marquis Premier, and my mom drives a 2004 Explorer XLT. I was probably on course to be driving a 1986 Cutlass Supreme, but alas...it was caught in the Flood of '93 and replaced with a 1990 Lumina, which was my first car. I now drive a 1994 Lumina and long for the days of no torque steer, burnt rubber, and obnoxious squealing tires to wake the neighbors at 3 AM. In my desperation (and after plenty of painkillers), I made this photoshop of my car doing a RWD burnout.

Posted Image

It's sad. I know.

I'm a poor college student stuck with a FWD unibody V6 car. Please help me.

Oh, and can I join your club? :scratchchin:

Economics should not play into this... if a C&G member is driving

a FWD car becasue they're in College and or bought a commuter

car or economy car that's FWD but they really WANT a RWD car

much more than any FWD one then they're in.

I was once in College driving my parent's FWD cars dreaming of

1968 Firebirds & 1971 Monte Carlos.

Dude, that's awsome. Why didn't you mention you drive an oil

burner GMC? Is it a 5-speed? That would eb the ULTIMATE.

1972 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible

1987 Camaro IROC-Z (actually the wife's car)

1995 Camaro Z/28 (the Z/Hawk)

1999 Silverado K1500 Stepside

am I qualified?

oh yeah, just bought 2 ATVs for the kids (do they count? )

Please don't hold my 96 Metro against me.

The only Toyota product I ever owned (and the only one I would consider getting again) was a 90s MR2, midengine, RWD

Allright, this one oughta cause some controversy:

Frank

Currently driving a 2005 Cobalt and loving it

Have driven a 1985 S10 Blazer

Actively looking for a vintage or late model Corvette or 67-73 Camaro to call my own

Toyota will forever be banned from my shopping lists

I'll let the powers that be in the RWD Mafia decide if I'm worthy.

Controversy?!

1. We have the same first name.

2. You're a faithful GM and RWD guy.. you've been part of C&G longer than I.

3. You bought a Cobalt Coupe, a great car, but would own a 4th Gen Camaro if you were a wee bit taller.

4. You have a Camaro in your signature.

You're obviously in. Along with AAS and Iroczlover. However, Iroczmember and zhawk will hold the same, partnered membership.. so count both members as only one. Therefore, we currently have 16 members and are looking for 7 more.

Name's XP715, but "Ross" is what they put on the birth certificate. I currently have two rear-drive cars in my ever-changing fleet: a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme sedan, and a 1971 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. I also used to own a 1979 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, to finish off the list of rear-drive vehicles I've owned. I think big body on frame rear wheel drive land barges are where it's at and Toyota can eat $h!. Think I qualify?

Alright, I'm back. Thanks for taking over everyone. :)

Ok I don't why I hate FWD $h!boxes.....

I just know that I do.

I am Paul, and the rubber on the bottom of my rocker panels

is always behind my rear wheels.

like this.

Currently have an 06 Envoy, 79 Malibu, 77 GMC shortie P/U, & an 04 Grand am

(for my wife to drive)

My Malibu's rear tires make loud sqealing noises often....Is this a problem?

What should I do...

Posted

I reluctantly drive a Civic. If I had the money, I'd buy a Solstice.

The only thing about the Civic (which was basically given to me) is the gas mileage. My old leBaron (damn, more FWD) was way more fun on Mulholland. I feel like I'm driving a toaster. With horrible balance.

I miss my mom's '70 Ninety-Eight. That was a car....

So count me as an aspiring member...........

Posted (edited)

FWD rules biotchhhhhhhhhh, lmao. My names Martin and sadly I no longer have my 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis. My intrest include: loud pipes that sound like hell is coming and leaving long thick strips of black rubber along the asphalt. Oh yeah...Toyota can blow a rod. My next car could be a used Caprice or Crown Vic cop car, god willing.

EDIT: We need a emoticon holding a sign that reads RWD on it.

C.H.U.D.

Real Name: Jon

Ride: '96 Cavalier (Stupid Home Depot not giving me full time)

Aspire to own: Some sort of RWD V8 Chevy. Hopefully a new Camaro one day...

I'm tired of the mere chirps while accelerating from a stop at WOT around corners. Burning rubber smells sweet to me, and I DON'T find dudes in sombreros attractive at all.

Posted

Well...

You can call me Tony.

I drive a Cobalt LT, but have spent my last 600 driving miles in an AWD Astro. Have also driven and loved a 1994 Firebird Formula and a 2003 Cadillac CTS.

I would seriously consider a RWD Pontiac Solstice as a second vehicle... And when it comes out, the new Camaro as my first.

And to add to the anti-Toyota sentiment... F--- Toyota in the a------ with a jagged stick.

Posted (edited)

My name is Mike.. and while I have not owned a RWD vehicle yet in my lifetime, all of my dream vehicles, possibly the top 50, are RWD.

The top on my list.

1. 98-2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6

2. 1970 Plymoth Hemi Cuda

3. All remaining 4th Gen F-bodies

4. 1st Gen F-bodies

5. 80s G-bodies (possible El Camino Choo Choo custom in my future)

6. Any corvette

Before I recently bought my Alero after my Achieva was totaled.. I was looking out for a reasonably priced 4th Gen f-body but after finding out the insurance rates would put me in the gutter, it's not a realistic option for me until I can get a higher paying job. I did attempt to check out a Cadillac Catera but by the time I called in, it was already sold.

Edit: And reguarding Toyota.. not even the Supra sparks my interest.
