Toyota Boss Steps Down

Toyota Motor Corp. Chairman Hiroshi Okuda left the helm of the No. 1 Japanese automaker Friday after holding the posts of president and chairman for 11 years.

Vice Chairman Fujio Cho will replace Okuda as chairman and Okuda is expected to remain a director and executive adviser at the Nagoya-based automaker to continue supporting President Katsuaki Watanabe.

anyone know the reason for his leave?

maybe toyota knows even more about about its soon to be discovered future f8k ups then any of us care to wax rhetoric about.

or, his daughter is out of college now and he wanted more free time to retire and do things with her

wow, the article said NOTHING. do they always keep things this simplistic in the japan press? if this were the US press and writing about say, Rick Wagoner, they would be blistering pieces with all sorts of speculation and damnation.

Probably because he's 74 years old and has been working for Toyota for 50 years.

WAHH!

i think the toyota retirees total just doubled today :o man... look out toyota, that legacy cost gets expensive...
