This could very well be something I'll start doing monthly...or even bi-monthly. You see, I have over a decade of old "Car & Driver" magazines stored in a Rubbermaid bin in my closet, and I need to put them to good use.

Here's the idea I had: every month, pull one random issue out of mothballs and scan something random from the issue I select. It could be an ad, it could be an article. Every page is fair game.

To start us off, I decided to show off a bunch of random junk. Since this is the first -- or last, I'm not sure -- it's deserving of a light boom.

Which car was quicker, an Aurora 4.0L, or a Riviera Supercharged? I'm asking.

Yellowjacket: this is a great idea. Looking forward to more, over time.

Well, my father's SSEi is faster off the line than my car, but I give him a very good run at mid-RPM mid-speeds (35-75mph). I'm sure I'm not aided by my 3995lbs curb weight...well...not me...the car. Even with its iron block, the Bonneville is a good ~200lbs lighter for some reason. The 4.0l Aurora is far and away more smooth and silkier, but the s/c 3800II is alot more tire-squealing fun. I can chirp my car, but to do more would be gauche of this fine sedan.

That Olds looks like a warmed-over Lumina...the Aurora looks sooo much better.

And I remember those Plymouth Places-one came to my mall! I was 6 at the time, so I didn't understand it fully at the time...didn't know what to think of it.

Probably the Aurora powered 4.0, if you ask me.

The rear door on the blue Aurora sketch is very Lumina 2.0
