Ok here is the deal. The wife and I are in the market for an 07 Burb.... I'd LOVE to wait for the 6-speed, but we both REALLY want to get a new truck. Our Grand Cherokee is NOT CUTTING IT ANY MORE LOL.

I'm looking to see if any one knows "when" it's (the 6-speed) gonna hit the Chevys and not just the "up scale" Denali and slade!!! You'd think they'd put them into the LTZ also. I can't see them not being able to get trannies for some of the suburbans and Tahoes.

I've heard 08 (as in Jan 08), but I can't believe it's gonna take that long to get them into the trucks.

Get the Denali. The 6 speed is worth it. I had a 02 and an 03 Avalanche with the 5.3 and the 4 speed. The 6.2L 6-speed is so much better, with the same mileage.

I love mine.

I bet you can get the loaded Denali for just a couple grand more than the loaded LTZ Burb.

Sorry, I will not get the Denali. A. It's more than I want to spend. B. I CAN NOT stand the front of the GMC LOL sorry.

I wouldn't spend more than $20,000 on a new car that didn't have at least a 5 speed auto.

Might I suggest Hemi powered Commander or even an Expedition if GM doesn't get their act together?

The Commander is small but at least its still a real SUV. I have seen V6 4x4 Commanders on sale for $25995.

We are in a Grand Cherokee right now. We were looking at the Commander, but over all it's too small. With two kids (working on a third;) ) and two BIG dogs the Burb is about it. (I know about GMC but nither the wife or I like the exterior). Ford WILL NOT be mentioned for us.

I'm sure the Denali is nice but like I just replied neither the wife or I can stand the GMC's exterior. It's a love or hate one to us.

I agree on being sorry if I go for the 4-speed, but we may be able to get a GREAT deal on one. Hence the reason I'm REALLY trying to nail down when the Burb will get the 6 speed. Hell, I'd take the 6.0 or 6.2, if I could get them in the Chevy body.

I need Dates LOL :)

aren't the 6.2's supposed to get AFM for '08 too? thought that was confirmed sometime ago... not sure what you want to do, but just throwing that in here if you can wait at all.

I am sorry why do people keep calling it AFM whel they ofically call if DOD??? seems silly!!!

because it has a name change...

it was called DOD... but when the tahoe was released they realize there was a little misconception, so they decided to change the name to AFM...

so no longer will you see DOD in future documentation...

anything printed prior, sure will still refer to it as DOD...

i havent driven the 6speed but the 5.3 w/ the 4speed is a fun vehicle to drive!

i know my alyson 5 speed is an awesome tranny, and i'm quite certain the new 6E80 shares a lot in common with those alysons...

but i'd say just go for the suburban with the 4speed...

its my understanding that by around 2008 all the GMT900 should offer the 6 speed...

i know GM wants like 90% of their vehilces to be 6 speeds by 2010...

from what i understand the suburban 2500 will receive a 6.0 V8 that will not have AFM... the 6.2 does not currently have AFM either...

i'm unaware of any future plans, but i will certainly ask...

I just can't believe that Chevy will wait till 08 to get the 6 speeds into the SUV's. Even if it's only avalible in on one or two trims (LTZ & possibly LT3. I'd go for the LTZ with the goofy 20"rims if it had the 6 speed.)

I know the 6.0 is suposed to be "availible" in CY07 but with the 4 speed :( right there they should do a package with the 6 speed (better or same milage as the 5.3 and 4 speed)

Any idea on the Z71 package while we're on the "future" LOL

Just a heads up. I found this on my banks "build a car" link. Getting closer to what we're looking for :) I just do not want the auto ride LOL

This is an option in building an LT3/LTZ. It's not on the Chevy site, but I have been hering you can S.O. the 6.0. I also do NOT have any "pricing" sorry. Notice the 6.0 "should" have the AFM on it.

ENGINE, VORTEC 6.0L V8 SFI with Active Fuel Management (366 hp [272.9 kW] @ 5500 rpm, 380 lb-ft of torque [513.0 N-m] @ 4300 rpm, aluminum block (Requires (M70) 4-speed automatic transmission, (GT5) 4.10 rear axle ratio and (Z55) Autoride Suspension Package.)(Requires 3LT Preferred Equipment Group) Code: L76

as another note on the LTZ you can do the assist steps too

invoice MSRP

ASSIST STEPS, POWER-RETRACTABLE Code: BRS $825.85 $995.00

There will be 2 different 6.0 engines...

one Aluminum 6.0 approximately 354 hp and 375 tq (preliminary results may have changed since i got my information in january) it has AFM (Avalible on 1/2 ton)

one Iron 6.0 Approximately 350 hp and 370 tq standard on 3/4 ton, this will not have AFM

i know the weight differences are somewhat significant between iron and aluminum, but isnt iron an overall better engine. esp in a people mover/hauler big truck.

at least as far as durability goes?

yes... Iron can withstand higher temperatures...

Aluminum helps with fuel ecconomy tho...

as far as longevity i'd go with the iron engine... expecially if you are going to put a load behind it...

"suburban 6 speed" this makes me think of something

I'd love to put togeather mad-scientist style.

Totalled Z06 + 1990 Subrban 2500 = 6-speed rear mounted trans. + 505 HP.

Then I'd weld up the Corvette together redneck style and put the Suburban's

scummy old 350-700R4 into it an I'd be off to the demolition derby. :D

So it looks like the 6.0 will have 380 Ft/LB (cross fingers) All I was trying to get at is, the info is starting to show up outside of the dealers ordering computer (not on chevy's site though :( )
