Cleaning up bookmarks as some are no longer valid ... 10+ years of accumulating and tentatively archiving them ...

0332989.jpg?v=v20

Thought I'd share this beautiful photo I found in my bookmarks of an Iberia 747, which they no longer operate, taking flight.  I'm almost sure it's a home base departure from Madrid, but don't know where it's headed ... could be New York, Miami, Buenos Aires, etc.

There isn't much in the way of mixed fleets when it comes to airlines.  I'm referring to Boeing and Airbus.  Some do it out of loyalty (Alaska goes with Boeing, being in Seattle).  Some do it out of efficiency.

In Europe, the bigger airlines buy from both manufacturers (British, Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, Turkish ...) as they have both the Airbus 350 and the Boeing 787 in their fleets.  Lufthansa amazingly uses both superjumbos - the Airbus 380 and the Boeing 747-8.

Slightly smaller but still international airlines are now going with one vendor.  In Europe, this would now be TAP Portugal, Finnair, and ITA (the successor to Alitalia).  They have all Airbus fleets.

Got it, like many, myself included you do not like trump. Sadly, many women and minorities voted allowing him to get back into office. The big LIE is on with him daily since taking office lying to the public, we have 4 years of the idiot47, but please let's temper the language as ya never know when some young person will visit our site. Thank you for your support.

At my PT on Friday, I cracked up laughing talking to a retired marine who was wearing this shirt.

Thank you for allowing me to express my sadness and anger towards DJT.   Its not easy listening to Trump's hurtfull speeches towards Canada. Hence these posts.

Agreed. But...that does not mean because some women and visible minorites voted for him that Trump needs to take away their rights...  DEI is such a bad thing that the Tuskagee Airmen actually were never a force to be reckoned with in the US airforce back in Double U Double U Two.   (sarcasm)

Regarding women, yeah, I suppose DEI is a bad thing as women belong in the kitchen and bedroom.

Its my duty as a human being  to defend anything and everything shytty that comes out of Trump's shytty mouth.  And it dont matter if uneducated and brainwashed idiots voted for Trump, it is still my duty to defend these people from the tyranny of this man named Trump.

I understand.  I will comply with the language thing.  No need for vulgarity. I agree.

I'm sick and tired of 47's reign and it's only been a week.  Going to be a long 4 years.  For my mental health and sanity I'm trying to avoid any media involving him and his administration.  Just burnt out on politics and the stupidity and uselessness of many Americans....a nation of imbeciles.

Im trying sooooo hard to ignore myself.  I cant.  Its impossible to do as he mocks Canada. Threatens Canada.  We Canadians are taking his insults and threats very seriously and its impossible just to let it go.  Our relationship with our American brothers and sisters are put to a test and we do not like it one bit.

I havent been so proud to be Canadian like this in a very long while.   Enough that I have started cheering for the Montreal Canadiens in hockey.  Havent done so since 1984.

I havent started loathing the US quite yet, but Im awfully close in doing so.

This was the ride across the pond.  I took a funkier combo of flights on a miles redemption to get onto this A340-600, actually the longest commercial aircraft in existence for at least a decade.  I figured as much just looking at it. Here it is pulling up to the gate in Boston.

Only took about 6:30 across, which went fast.  It's obviously a stretched A340-300 with bigger engines.  This thing barreled down the runway and it was "wheels up" in no time at all.  I like the 2-4-2 seating in economy.  There is not much of an economy cabin in terms of length.  A lot of the interior space was surprisingly first and business class.  With the fog and clouds, the view over Boston, which could have been spectacular, was nonexistent.

I love quadjets.  They look so regal, for lack of a better word.  I miss them as there are fewer of them.

I have been tuned out to politics for at least half of my life.  I'm sort of apolitical.  I sometimes get treated to a neener-neener on how it's one's civic duty.  I have never liked or trusted most politicians  ... and that's since I took civics in high school.

The shocking things of the last 10 years have caused me to take note.  However, for my sanity, I try to remain checked out as much as I possibly can.

I prefer to dwell on reading, photography, archiving, health, budgeting, travel, dogs and cats, staying in touch with my friends, and, of course, CARS!

Back to planes:

As if AA colliding with a helicopter at DCA wasn't enough, there was the Delta crash landing at Toronto.  I don't know if there is footage, but I saw a YouTube simulation.  That looked scary.  It also looked potentially more lethal than it turned out to be.  They were successful in getting the passengers out of an upside-down CRJ aircraft.  There was snow and 40 mph winds at YYZ.  I want to know how this could have happened.

This is freaky and Idiot47 and Musk just fired hundreds of FAA saying there is too many people in the FAA and control towers.

Good information on what happened.

Ok, it's a lot clearer.  The issue is now why that wing dipped.  Some articles mentioned wind gusts.

CRJs are quiet and nimble, for the most part.  I don't like their wing swept back and I don't like the engines at the rear hugging the fuselage.  It's noisy in the back.  When it comes to this more commuter-like size, I now much prefer the Embraer 190/185 product.

This tells me to keep that safety belt fastened tight.  We've seen people get out quickly when the plane was right side up ... AF's Paris-Toronto A340 and the JAL A350 in Tokyo that collided with a commuter plane on the runway.  Getting out when you're upside down must have been much worse.  I'm thinking some of these folks will have PTSD from this.  I feel for them.
