Cadillac's infotainment system has been the bane of automotive writers and owners. CUE has been described as being difficult annoying to use, part of this due to the touch-sensitive 'buttons' which doesn't always recognized when pressed. But it seems Cadillac is going back to basics in terms of their infotainment system.

Spy photos of the upcoming XT4's interior have made their way onto various sites today. Underneath the infotainment screen, there are rows of physical buttons for the climate control and various safety functions. We can also make out a controller behind the transmission, which may provide another method of controlling the infotainment system. Other details that can be made out include stitching around the touchscreen and paddle shifters behind the wheel.

We're expecting to see Cadillac unveil the XT4 next month at the New York Auto Show.

Very Cool, I like that it has the Escalade type rear tail lights and the front, over all not bad. The dash from what is visible is exciting to see the change, hopefully it will get rolled out sooner rather than later into all products as they refresh the dash.

^ Why would Cadillac "have to"?

Can't let the XT5 have a lesser version of CuE than the XT4...I'd assume they will roll out the new version of the infotainment system with MCEs or NG refreshes across the line quickly.

Good point.  Since the article doesn't have the spy photos of the XT4 dash, I wonder is the XT4 dash has different styling cues than current models ( I assume that is the XT5 or another current model in the pic).

I thought he was referring to the physical "dash".

I was referring to both the new CUE and the physical buttons since so many people have complained about how to use CUE with just virtual buttons.  The physical dash may or may not be updated at all in the XT5.

@balthazar @Cubical-aka-Moltar So here is the hidden XT4 dash versus the current XT5 dash. Some differences. I am thinking that they might be able to make a modest change to the existing dash to fit in the new CUE system and the buttons.

This reminded me.. i was watching a couple of (the hated) Doug Demuro videos the other day while putting in some cardio at the gym and it was a new NSX and I think(not sure bout this second vehicle) a Bentley Continental SuperSports that had the slider bullsht for the volume adjustment. Buttons on other things but for volume you have to slide your finger.. hell no. That kind of "button" works much better in just a simple "touch" format like the Caddy's.

I am glad Caddy is moving away from them. i didn't find them all that difficult to use myself but between other people have issues and still preferring an actual button.. Smart more.

This is the NSX volume adjustment I was talking about. It's difficult to see here but it's on the left side of the scree and you can see the little +/- over there. That's gotta be tough to work, especially in a sportier car where the ride is stiffer and you feel more bumps.

Yeah, that is a pain, but you can at least adjust the volume from the steering wheel.... my issue with the poor design of this interface there is that we're so accustom to the big dial being the volume and in this case it is the driving mode dial.  How often does one need to change that, even in an NSX, that it needs to be a giant, centrally located dial like that?  The climate control buttons are convenient but.. here... let me get a pen out of my pocket so I can jab the heated seats that are tiny buttons down in the center console instead of next to the rest of the HVAC controls.

I sat in the ATS, CTS and CT6 at the auto show this past Saturday, and one thing I remember was one car with a center stack with a glossy black surface and a bunch of little silver tabs w/ no labeling.. I assume the labels for controls only show when lit up w/ the engine running or in accessory mode?  I think it was the CTS...
