Very bad. Just when it seems GM was coming out of the hole.

The end is looming too for the UAW. I work in a UAW repped facility. Kinda' reminds me of the 1999 movie thriller "The Sixth Sense". To paraphrase the film's young star, Haley Joel Osmont, every day when i'm at work, i think to myself "I See Irrelevant People" when i see a union rep.

This'll stop just short of the yawning abyss that is a strike. :duh:

Too soon to tell. Everybody is posturing at this point. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail. GM and others have already anticipated this move. We are living in interesting times.

Interesting that 95% authorized. Not sure I trust this number.

In the end we all know it's wasted effort. The golden goose is dead and they're all scrambling around the corpse pecking at the remaining flesh. If the UAW was worth anything at all they'd be spending their energy at the Toyota and Hyundai plants, but they won't.

The Golden Goose is Dead! Long Live the Golden Goose! Yeah, to be sure, there's alot of pecking, posturing going on. I wonder if the upper echelon of the UAW is getting paid some sort of commission on each "sale" (i.e. every one who signs on to the "Special Attrition Plan") I feel that they're not interested in supporting the workers who've buoyed them up all these years. Just interested in continuing the featherbedding and protecting their cozy little sinecures.

I'd feel easier about it all, perhaps even amused. except that it all comes down to selling out one's integrity. To Quote Faust, and even more recently, Hugo Weaving the actor, as the title character "V" in the film "V for Vendetta"; "Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici" from latin to english "I Through the Power of Truth While Living Have Conquered the Universe" ...I think we can bend that concept to fit this situation as well as others. thank you. :scratchchin:

What the hell is their problem? Did they not notice the bankrupcy? Do they actually think striking will help them? The government should nuke the UAW...

Anyway this is stupid. If they strike it will cripple GM...GM could very welll end up bankcrupt from it, and the everyone in the UAW woulld be jobless. <_< Ford would then follow suit and ditch the UAW.

Of course, the executives at Delphi getting bonuses should be fired and/or shot.

Well, if the UAW strikes then they better go after Toyota and Hyuindai plants, because it is a LONG boat ride to China!

This is only going to hurt everyone in the industry not only GM. You will see a huge ripple effect go through every supplier not just Delphi. If they do this it will be close to game over and we might as well hand over most of the industry to Toyota or any other Asian manufactuer. A lot of selfishness on both sides at Delphi, not just the UAW but the white collar executives too. It was mentioned in this thread about the executive bonuses...are they insane?!! This is not the time to be shooting holes in the bottom of the boat when you are in a hurricane!!
