Here's the next installment. This one opens up a lot of supercar choices, so we should see some good lists here.

Rules-

1)Maximum of 5 choices

2)Production cars only

3)Any era and market is allowed

4)These are your only cars

5)Engines MUST have displacements ranging from 3.0 liters to 3.9 liters. Nothing that rounds up.

Have fun.

Posted

1) McLaren P1 (3.8L hybrid)

2) Buick GNX (3.8L TT)

3) Cadillac CTS VSport (3.6L TT)

4) Ferrari 488 Spider (3.9L TT)

5) Ram 1500 Laramie Limited (3.0L turbodiesel)

Posted

1. 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible 3.4 DOHC  (they are labors of love, but I really miss mine)

2. Cadillac XTS V-Sport 3.6TT (My daily)

3. 2016 Mercedes GLE400 (Partner's daily)

4. 1985 Buick Riviera Convertible T-Type 3.8 Liter Turbo (the convertible part is an aftermarket conversion, sold by Buick... not sure if it is eligible, I'll just take the coupe if it doesn't count)

5. Cadillac ATS-V coupe 3.6TT

I'm not good with model names as an exact science so just think of the most hardcore version of that vehicle as the answer with the compliant engine displacement.

Inb4 someone says 2017 Raptor.

Okay. Porsche 911. I dunno which kind. Too many to chose, any year would be fine.

CT6 3.0TT Premium. I can't stand the way the Platinum grille looks.

Continental 3.0TT - with Black Label version with the Saddle brown leather. Red exterior paint as shown at the autoshow.

2017 Ford GT.

Now I know that the 2 Fords aren't quite in production just yet. But they're going to...

1.) 2014 Cadillac CTS Wagon 3.6L

3.) 1995 Toyota Supra 3.0L (all stock please)

4.) 2016 GMC Canyon 3.6L V6 (Got to have a good truck in the mix right?)

5.) 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S 3.0L (will always love the look, don't care what anyone thinks)

Look at that, 2 posts and they both follow the rules!

I could do a complete second list if I was allowed.  :hissyfit:  It would basically look like a mid-90s Chevrolet-Pontiac-Buick-Oldsmobile car lot.

Of course you are allowed, Drew.

I might actually do a second list in this one.

And Id LOVE to see a second list from you, or anybody else!

Frisky, I LOVE your list! The only one I wouldn't want on my own would be the M3. And I wouldn't even change classes I'd just jump ship to the C63 probably..(if it weren't for the rules of this). Stay with the rules and I don't think anything else will beat it for its displacement.

The color on that 911..gorgeous!

Also, the BMW and Supra pics didn't show up. I don't know if it's my end, server end, or your end.

True on the GNX but it is literally the only GM car I would have form the 80's. I remember when it first came out and the fear it put into GMs own cars (Vette anyone?). It was and still is the ultimate sleeper car (in the historical sense anyway).

Oooo; I can stick with one of my actually-owned vehicles :

• '40 Ford COE, 239 V8 (3.9L)

• '50 Merc coupe, 239 V8 (3.9L)

• Cadillac CTS-V Sport 3.6

• '62 Olds Jetfire coupe, 215 CI V8 (3.5L)

• I'd like to add a Grand National, but their interiors are NOT to my tolerance. Haven't seen a '80s Riviera in years, but I will plug one of Drew's choice in here:

'83 Buick Riviera T-Type Turbo 231 V6 (3.8L) (tho I'd like to do some major power boosts to it).

Not a lot pops to my mind in this low of a displacement….

Hey Frisky- how high up in displacement are you going to run these dream garage threads? :D

Yeah there is a lot blocked it's just weird when it's only 2 of the 5 posted pictures.  This isn't the first time by any means.

Curious, why the 83 and not the 85?

Just took a quick look at my Buick file, had an article on the '83. What's the advantage of the '85 over the '83… or why did you pick '85?

OK...I see that I cant choose a different path as the one I chose originally over at MT forums back in the day because of all you people choosing the the Buick GN/GNX.....but...Id gladly bypass the Buick for something more unique, more different, but same exact engine. And I get to keep my absolute favorite pony car name plate in my dream garage at the same time...TRANS AMs ROCK!!!

If I could go back into time and relive my teenaged years in the 1980s...this would have been my dream garage...actually, this WAS my 3.0-3.9 liter dream car garage in the 1980s...

In order of preference this time around, starting with the car that I lusted the most and ending with the car that I lusted a little less than the most.

They laugh at us, our enemies laugh at us.

We're going to pick them apart so hard...and then we're going to use water-hoarding. And I'd bring back a hell of a lot worse. I would bring back Cadillac.

And then I'd go even as far as to say....ve Lincoln.

Both '83 and '85 have 4-speed autos.... The final year of the E-bodies got some interior "fluffing" and other smaller mechanical enhancements.  Also, pretty much any GM vehicle in the '80s is best in its final year on the platform because it took GM that long to get it right.  I don't have the articles handy, but Buick was making tweaks to the Turbo 3.8 nearly every year in production in order to improve reliability.

Why does everyone always think that a CUV is what the wife/partner/better half should get?

I would bring back waterhoarding. And I'd bring back coupes only too.

I think all CUV/SUV should have a 10% tax on them.  That money should go to pay for better roads so those of us that buy performance cars have better roads to drive on.

No, water boarding wastes water.

We need to hoard it, come on people, we can't be the stupid people anymore!!!

We have a problem, a serious problem. We can't let displacement be the judge of our vehicle taxes...

So have the majority of folks pay for roads for the mere fraction of a minority of folks in this country? Not sure if you are joking or not but if so, it's just not a very good one. If you're not joking, well...

I say that because the gf doesn't like cars and would pretty much only drive a CUV/SUV.

Easy.

My Intrepid

F-Type Coupe 3.0 V6 - My love for this car is just as strong as the day the concept was unveiled.

I too am in love with the F-Type Coupe. GORGEOUS car.

Well I THINK I have my list.. Not 100% as I could see switching a few. Like my 911 Targo 4S.. I could see switching to something a little more toy-like like a 911 GT3 or RS or a Turbo S.. Tacoma TRD could switch to an F150 FX4 or Limited.. but My Daily would likely be the Rover Sport so why would I need a second large luxury vehicle? I would't..and the TRD or FX4 would be a ton of fun all off-road-like.

The first two were easy for me.

Ford GT

35532E32-F9CE-4F8F-9F3B-FF799631028E_zps

RR Sport - I'd want the Euro diesel version because it is 306hp/516tq vs the US diesel 254hp/443tq or the supercharged gaser at 340hp/332tq.

18B9E839-01D1-4B5C-B1E2-AE6D08F61CB9_zps

911 Targo - because Targas are cool and I've always thought they looked like a fun car to drive. Add some wind in the hair without ruining the looks of a car by making it a full on convertible..yup.
